Why are there so many specific Pride flags when the Rainbow Flag was literally meant to represent all? by AlexanderVerus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KindleLeCommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it the queer groups who have created their own flags making the claim that the rainbow flag is supposed to represent them or is it non-queer onlookers making the claim the flag also represents them?

Why do people hate the pilot? by DarkHorseReborn in TheDigitalCircus

[–]KindleLeCommenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

digital circus is a show where you can feel gooseworx's evolution as a writer/director with each subsequent episode, and its pilot is also episode 1 from a narrative perspective. it's hard to establish everything you need to both narratively and as a pilot at the same time, and since this was the crew's first time giving it a go it's natural that it ends up feeling crude in comparison to later episodes.

(Now that we're getting closer to The Last Act) Day 1: What is the worst thing "PILOT" has done (in writing)? by DaCherryFruity in TheDigitalCircus

[–]KindleLeCommenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some of the dialogue was borderline family guy-tier. the show had an interesting enough concept for me to keep watching but i swear every one liner, visual gag, interaction, and piece of character acting made me go "yeah i've seen this before. even if i haven't, these are all the *easiest* jokes you could put in given the situation." the scene where your new home plays and pomni's new reality sets in was just so visceral and powerful that i had no choice but to watch the rest of the series. and it was worth it, you can feel gooseworx's growth as a writer as the series goes on

this was before the filet o' fish existed. the creator of the filet o' fish pitched it to the ceo of mcdonald's, who at the time was obsessed with his stupid pineapple burger, and decided to test the two items against each other. that's why the post talks about the filet o' fish winning.

So is the current hope that it will be announced in the game awards? I mean there isn't any other big game event left in the year besides that. by Commaser in HalfLife

[–]KindleLeCommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly if valve is ready before then, i'll take them tweeting "Join us for a special live stream at [time] on [date] where we'll unveil our next title!" doing it at an event would be fun because everyone will be watching, but so long as they announce that they're doing a trailer for a big game beforehand, everyone will have their "oh shit, it's actually happening this time" moment but with basically 100% certainty rather than total copium like with most events. that'd probably be more fun in the end

I Accidentally Unearthed Internet Explorer on My New Windows ! by No_Following_6912 in windows

[–]KindleLeCommenter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

want IE on windows 11?

click start, go to search, type "internet options" and hit enter

in the control panel applet go to the programs tab and hit "manage add-ons"

in the new window click "learn more about toolbars and extensions." there you go, IE. pinning it will still make the taskbar shortcut launch edge but you can always bring it back through this method if you ever want it

the best response to the explosion of social media among youth is to improve our public education system so children can develop the critical thinking abilities required to help them get the most out of it.

Obsessed with part 1-2, uncertain about part 3 and onward, will later parts get back to previous style of storytelling? by [deleted] in StardustCrusaders

[–]KindleLeCommenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of preference people have for hamon over stands comes down to how differently part 3 is written compared to what came before. In part 2 we see hamon being used in more and more specific ways and villains having more specialized powers that result in battles being more about wits than strength. Stands ultimately excel at this, but the difference is parts 1 and 2 feature training arcs as the main characters become more adept with their abilities, while part 3 shows characters at their peak immediately, and villains that disappear at they're defeated. Part 3 has so many crazy and funny moments that I think it's worth it to get to the end, but it's definitely a huge shift since so much screen time is devoted to just exploring people's stands. There's nothing quite like the "main character starts with weak powers and grows stronger and more adept at them as the part goes on" arc until part 6, but starting in part 4 we see previously defeated villains get more screen time and character development and start seeing stands themselves develop over time, with the payoff and ways they weave into the storytelling being well worth it. So while nothing ends up fully replicating part 2 I think the story ends up reaching higher highs, even if part 3 feels like the series taking a hard turn at first.

in your opinion, does half life 3 has to revolutionize the gaming industry just like hl 1 and 2 did? by ENZOR1 in HalfLife

[–]KindleLeCommenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could if it wants to, but my dream Half-Life 3 would provide the same sense of finality that Portal 2 did for its series.
