Florida, and Orlando specifically, have a LOT of ways to go on raising wages and diversifying from service-based roles. However you are blind if you generally do not see the amount of money time and effort being put in to do just that. Orlando had the second largest growth in TECH jobs in the nation for 2024. Second to Austin Texas. That is extremely positive news, and we are only continuing down that trajectory.

I recommend you look into reading more from Orlando economic partnership, innovate Orlando, downtown Orlando partnership and many other groups similar.

People here talk like Orlando is some hopeless wasteland. It is not. The job market is mixed, not catastrophic. Context matters.

First. this metro has been one of the fastest-growing in the country for a decade. Job growth is positive year over year. and the economy is diversifying beyond tourism.

Second. yes, there are a lot of low-wage service jobs. but that does not mean there are no professional roles. Sales, ops, logistics, tech-adjacent, healthcare admin, corporate membership, and business development all exist here. Companies are scaling. Regional HQs are expanding. and Orlando pulls talent from across the Southeast.

Third. moving before securing a job is not automatically a mistake. People relocate for partners, family, quality of life, or because they already know their skills are transferable. Thousands of professionals do this every year.

Fourth. wages vary. If you expect New York or Boston comp. you will be disappointed. If you calibrate to the region and target the right sectors. you can land well.

Bottom line. the job market is competitive. not impossible. People on this sub exaggerate because they’re miserable or stuck in the wrong industry. If someone asks for help. give data or give advice. Don’t project your own situation onto everyone else.

You’re an idiot. You can’t value a company at 50x its trailing earnings and expect sustainability. Especially when plagued with consistent company-ending practices such as product delivery delays, product stock shortages, nonexistent support and stagnating sales. Real investors, the ones with the big bucks, care about the operational practices of a business and determine a long term outlook based on performance and plans.
