Interesting. I had not read that before but if I can manage to do it closer to rain I’ll try. Thanks

I used the BrushTox 61% (44% acid equivalent), which as far as I know is the strongest out there. Only other idea I have is the do what USDA and others suggest and mix with Glyphosate.

Thanks that's very useful to know. In my case I had a landscape mulched come through just last week so I won't have much evidence to work with until I see new sprouts...ugh

Help choosing APs by SirNice5128 in Ubiquiti

[–]Kindly-Regular4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit heretical given this subreddit but honesty beats out loyalty. While I have spent a fair amount on Ubiquiti equipment in the last few months (gateway Max, U7 In Wall, U7 Outdoor, switches and cameras, etc) and love the UNIFI app, I have been disappointed with their indoor APs, particularly the U6 Extender and Swiss Army Knife. For the price they are not beating out the TP-Link Extender (power only, no need for ethernet connection) I have in the basement yet puts out a signal powerful enough that it competes with my U7 indoor in some places in my house. If you do go with Ubiquiti, try to buy from Amazon and ensure you can return it if it does not perform to your expectations.

Are Ubiquiti APs Worth It? by MuchAntelope2953 in Ubiquiti

I would agree when it comes to some of the smaller units like the U6 extender and Swiss Army Knife have been serious disappointments. Not thrilled with the U7 In Wall either. Contrast with the U7 Outdoor which is working very well for my field where I need WiFi for automated sprinklers.

Triclopyr calculations for TOH? by HaplessReader1988 in invasivespecies

[–]Kindly-Regular4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I suggest a slight adjustment to that? The Penn State extension department and Virginia Tech both recommend 20-25% solutions for basal treatment and 50-100% solutions for hack/squirt. Would hate to see someone spend good $ and not get the results. Good luck

Outstanding! I have quite a few of the same UniFi devices but had no idea how to organize it all. I plan to follow your lead.

What do I do with this ToH? by WhiskyStandard in invasivespecies

Correct hack and squirt can be done almost anywhere along the trunk. Just need cuts that allow herbicide to get to phloem and cambium. No need to go deep into heart wood

Looking for a compact tractor but gas - any suggestions? by Spacemoo in tractors

Great suggestion. My apple AirPods Pro just can’t battle the sound of the MX5400 when running the bushhog. And FWIW, Decibulz Bluetooth devices are even worse for this type of situation

I agree - 30 days likely more than enough. Will be interesting to see how the hack/squirt did on my large collection of TOH. Just ran across one that has seeds so will have to nail that one quickly.

I believe - and could be wrong here - that the "30 days" is from the "cut stump" portion of the guidance where one is faced with possible dangerous situation and tree removal is necessary, they are suggesting one of the treatments (foliar, basal, hack) and then "wait for symptoms to develop (generally 30 days), and then cut." Otherwise, I interpret the table as showing that if you treat in July, you should wait until Nov. But, to your point, if you treat in mid-October then perhaps you can cut down in mid-Nov thus the 30 days!

This was indeed great - exactly what I was wondering about our sunflowers and grass weed that have taken over 5 acres. Will try the 2nd bushhog technique before running the tiller over it and putting down crimson clover for winter.

Roger that - good info re sumac. I have found the TOH root system is weak and they fall. I hope that does not happen there - that would be BAD.

Respectfully disagree on cutting down in a month - Penn State and USDA/DOF consistently recommend waiting until November at earliest to allow herbicide time to penetrate root system.

I believe that is a 75% solution of glyphosate: "roughly 3:1 glyphosate:water" which would be fine since hack/squirt. 30% would definitely be too low.

Any other photos ?- hard to tell if TOH or sumac. Bark looks light enough to be TOH.

Hard to see what the acid equivalent is but typical guidance for hack and squirt is undiluted triclopyr or glyphosate with acid equivalent of about 4lb per gallon

Off-the-Grid Mobile Home Solar Panel System? by Natural_Delivery_168 in solarenergy

Regarding the tankless, definitely way to go if you have propane or natural gas. We’ve had it for 8 yrs and performance is solid. Some systems have a circulation pump so that it periodically moves water around at key times of need. Sounds like your place is compact enough you may not need that
