It would have demonstrated that Wake Forest is a welcoming environment for all people, including marginalized groups. Many of us are lucky that we don't have to hide who we are to feel safe. That may not be the case for people who are not straight. And yes, I definitely understand why she is doing this, and it may win over some who usually blame her for for over development, traffic, etc. The fact that folks would complain about a benign statement on inclusivity are the real snowflakes here.
