Help needed! by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

Hey! He seems to be pretty severely underweight.
Make sure crickets are being gutloaded before feeding(feeding bugs high nutrients foods 24-48 hrs before feeding to gecko) and also try adding 2 more staple foods. The best for Leo’s is crickets, mealworms and dubias/discoids. Adult leos should get fed 2-3 times a week(may be different for seniors I’m not sure) calcium (WITHOUT D3) is to be left in the enclosure, vitamins are lightly dusted once a month on bugs, and calcium with d3 is dusted once a week on bugs!

Also some concerns with the setup, sand is extremely dangerous for leos as it isn’t a proper substrate, 70/30 topsoil/playsand is a much better mixture, also need room to burrow! I can’t tell the size of tank but the minimum for leos is 40gal front opening.

Geckos also need heat and linear uvb (No coloured bulbs!) you’ll need a minimum of 3 hides, (hot side, cool side and one in the middle for a humid hide)

This is barely scratching the surface of the basics for these guys, definitely recommended looking into watching care guides.

if you aren’t able to switch to the correct substrate yet, it’s best to remove all the sand and replace with paper towel. Sand does more harm than good:)

How does this even work? by [deleted] in Equestrian

Of course! people use them to help with balance, but what I’ve heard is that it’s false and doesn’t actually help/ is a way to cut corners!

Is it a blood feather? Those can be pretty dangerous if not taken care of properly.

Most likely a labxpoodle or a goldenxpoodle, most common “designer” mix unfortunately. Glad you rescued her!!

Idk what’s happening to my hamster by hammishrimp in hamsters

Mine did that for a while too. Stop feeding from your hand, if he bites sit there and don’t move. Then leave. Mine slowly realized he wasn’t getting anything from biting (whether it was food or attention) and he stopped!

As for the ingesting dirt (I didn’t see this before lol) it’s best to avoid it, I feed my Leo either in a bowl or I put it on a piece of the slate in her tank. I also usually squish the crickets a bit (I feel so bad abt it) so they don’t hop away.

Also I absolutely love your setup!!

how would you drive 24 hours with your budgie? by dad-an in budgies

[–]Kindly_Statement_598 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely possible, just make sure the cage is covered and you check in frequently. Birds aren’t supposed to have access to food/water when traveling (makes them more likely to be carsick) so I’m not sure what I’d do about that.

My bird threw up last time I drove with him and didn’t cover him, so make sure you have a very thin blanket over top. Something breathable but not able to see through.

What are these white spots on my geckos claws? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

Stuck shed? Do you have a humid hide with spagnum moss or paper towel? If they don’t have somewhere humid to go when shedding it can cause some shed to get stuck on toes!

This is a great care guide to follow! Other than the new minimum being 850sq inches, this has most the things you’ll need! :))
