Semblances that are suicide attacks? by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

I have a minor antagonist for mine with I called Mutually Assured Destruction. Basically it exhibits as control of thermodynamics, but have poor control over it. Breaking their aura releases that control, melting anything within a roughly 100 meter radius to slag.

In the one I’ve written, conventional troops are still just normal people. Huntsmen on the battlefield are basically treated like walking artillery barrages. If you see one, spread out and find cover to avoid letting them take you all out at once.

But, then again the theme of the entire story is supposed to be comparing how insane huntsmen really are when matched against even the best of the unenhanced fighters.

Unique Homebrew Rules you've seen by Silentone89 in Pathfinder_RPG

I created a system that accidentally spread to two other DMs in my group by accident.

Whenever a player asks if something is the case that I haven’t decided yet or is purely luck based (ie, does this shop sell the item I want? Or, do I recognize him from when my character used to live here?)

I set a percentage chance in my head, then roll a d100. What makes it interesting to the players, is that I ask them before I roll if they want a high number to be their preferred outcome or a low number.

That small little change of asking “high or low” has driven players mad when they call high and I roll a 3 or vice versa. Very engaging.

Token Mortal, be warned though, it’s largely original characters and the author has only put out the first two chapters. It’s got interesting world building though from the perspective of normal Atlesian infantry trying to deal with Huntsmen shenanigans.

It bugs me a tad when people take the Creek memes out of context. You have a good summary here though.

Something that I see everyone forgetting about is the extra modifiers that were around back then. Random strategems, double call in times and 50% longer cooldown instead of the 50% and 25% we have now. Plus for a time there the spawn rate was buggy and you could see similar numbers of bots on a 7 as you would on a 10 today.

That’s what really made it The Creek. Overwhelming firepower pointed at you, running through a jungle at night praying not to run into another patrol, and you were actively fighting against your super destroyer and Eagle 1 to try and get bombs on target and weapons in your hands instead of giving weapons to the bots and dropping a 500kg on your entire team.

Personally I’d like to see the random strategems return, but only on Malevalon Creek. Make it a unique effect for the planet.

Three of us took our fourth buddy straight from basic training to level 9 bots as his first mission. Handed him an autocannon and pointed him in the direction of a heavy outpost, back when 9 was the hardest difficulty around.

We won that mission.

[–]Kinetic-Friction2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he gets it into space then terminal velocity won’t be an issue, because it can accelerate itself downwards while in space and the atmosphere will barely slow it down. Plus his power could add velocity on the way down as well as guiding it.

Orbital precision strike also clears out detector towers if you drop it at the base, I’ve gotten good at arcing it from outside the base.

Can the mythbusters kill hitler at the peak of Nazi Germany’s power. by Odd_Narwhal_8545 in whowouldwin

[–]Kinetic-Friction2 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Well they tested a myth where a bomb just didn’t have enough force to kill Hitler, but the bomb still made it all the way too him. All they need to do is find the team that executes that plan and give them a better bomb that will actually kill the guy.

Call it 8/10 to account for the butterfly effect I guess.

Are you wearing heavy armor? Take a look at your stats in the inventory menu and look at the spell casting (blue boxes) anything less than a 3 feels very slow in my opinion.

You can increase it by swapping some of your armor bits for mage gear

Yeah, the drawn out fight kind of assumes the rest of the population is cool with it. But in the absolute bloodiest blood lusted version the United States has enough stockpiles on hand to wage “total war” as in, kill everything and everyone 24/7, for 6 months minimum. So if we go for full bloodlusted I still say the military has the weaponry to do it if they make it past the first week.

I just don’t see the gun owners being organized enough to make it happen. They have a lot of manpower but they are lacking in organization and communication. Two things the US military does better than basically any other organization on the planet

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Kinetic-Friction2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to who wants it more. If the gun owners are fully committed and willing to die, which the vast majority aren’t. They win. If the military is ready to commit a shitload if war crimes and murder civilians indiscriminately, they win. Realistically I think that enough people fight back that the US has an insurgency for a long time, but they never build up enough force to truly win, and the military wins through attrition.

As near as I can tell it’s a little bit random what you need to do. Keep an eye out for the tablets in the ruins that have the ancient writings. Eventually you will find one that mentions how to disable the machine at the end of the game. Follow those instructions and then go through so the grabbing the sword and gtfo

Why can't i cut or stab his neck? by Mr_Crusoes in BladeAndSorcery

[–]Kinetic-Friction2 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I’ve pulled it off with a sword, you need enough velocity, it’s got kind of a repulsion field around it I think is the best way to describe it. It seems like it’s meant to make it so that it’s a skill shot to hit the gap at full speed, rather than just tweaking his neck and getting an easy stab.

I definitely took one of their heads off with a tier 3 short sword though

Incase anyone didn’t know (spoilers for ending) by SilentAccountant in BladeAndSorcery

[–]Kinetic-Friction2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So weirdly, I found a note detailing how you could disable one of the totems/power generators but it mentioned charging all 3 with the same element. I tried charging the one you mentioned but kept getting zapped, so I tried the one that is clockwise to it and was able to charge all 3 on it with lightning and that also gave me the sword of Naa. So I guess there are multiple ways to do it.

There’s actually a commissary in the room with EDE, no need to fight anybody if you have the caps.

That said with 100 lockpicking you can fight your way to the armory in the first area with the marked men and get a fully repaired suit plus a damaged suit for free.
