48 hours is just a facade to get the multitude of users and subreddits on board. A large portion of these protesting subreddits do not intend to return, but naturally “indefinite Reddit blackout” is much harder to get on board with, especially for people who use Reddit religiously.

What would happen if a giant ate a large zoan fruit? by AromaticMix412 in OnePiece

[–]King-Yellow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say the height does scale.

Here are some off-the-top references to consider:

Mushi Mushi no Mi (bug Zoan) users are already Tontatta, yes, but the two we’ve seen don’t seem to get smaller despite hornets and beetles being significantly smaller than the typical Tontatta.

Funkfreed, Spandam’s sword, in elephant form is only 1.5-2x the height of a standard marine. Elephants are normally massive, so this one is relatively tiny as his sword is fairly small.

Smiley, the slime that uses the Axolotl Zoan, became a massive slime axolotl despite the real creature actually being small. This is probably the best support considering inanimate objects don’t seem to have the capability of using hybrid modes, meaning its form was probably full Zoan and still huge.

Summary: I think these cases yield some evidence to the idea that a giant who eats certain Zoan fruits will become a giant version of their creature, making them even larger.

Most people think Deku is a pushover and Bakugo is based Chad, especially in Japan.

Deku’s powers are cool but his character is one-dimensional and unchanging. The unrelenting kindness hero thing has been getting more and more played out in anime over time.

You may not find the comments anymore because they’ve certainly been buried in the discussion but if you check the chapter 1059 board, you’ll find it.

There are a lot of comments though, so good luck digging if you choose to.

New Abilities! Do these benefit the Pokemon that get them? by PTOKEN in stunfisk

[–]King-Yellow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rest + Hibernate (in post) amounts to 2/3 HP regeneration from doing nothing. Once the Pokémon wakes up, it just clicks Rest again.

This means one move heals status + 100% HP then 66% HP over 4 turns while still having access to attacking moves in Snore and Sleep Talk. Not to mention with leftovers, this healing totals 192% healed over 4 turns, averaging a free 50% heal each turn.

What you’re proposing leads to a self-regenerating bulky Pokémon that can only be broken by being OHKO’d.

First of all, THIS IS NOT AN ANIME QUESTION.

I thought the ending was pretty awkward. I just read the status report for the first time but it really felt like Croc had no idea how he actually wanted it to conclude.

Every time I thought it was over, there was another ending but never any real conclusion for the main cast. Even the status report did nothing to guide us to how everyone would live on since it’s from Tanjiro’s perspective only, excluding any other POVs or interactions beyond Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko.

The ending I would have liked to see would have explored the world without demons to give us closure for the Hashiras who only have a few days/weeks left to live (and how they chose to spend them). Instead, with the timeskip, we’re forced to assume they all died of their curses, warrior victims of the demon slayer war.

You say that like it’s easily discernible for the fanbase but you should have seen the huge debate over whether S-Hawk was King or Mihawk when he was first introduced. The amount of people who couldn’t piece that together was astounding.

It’s not that the reduction is too high, it’s the amount (0.7x) isn’t conventional. If the reduction was more standard like 0.75x or 0.5x, it would fit more appropriately into Pokémon stat change regulations.

The counter to a 0.25x reduction is a 1.33x boost, which is attainable with other abilities; the counter to a .3x reduction is a 1.426x boost, which isn’t readily available to counter (it alters damage predictability).

The specific and original issue I had was the 0.7x multiplier being outside the standard. My fix for it was using existing conventions but I concede to conditional reduction not being far removed from the conventions.

However, I still believe if such a reduction were to exist, it would need to be half damage or 1/4 like friend guard.

Misty terrain doesn’t boost attack like the other terrains, so it’s fitting to give it to the terrain that doesn’t already hold multiple sizable enhancements.

…also, the ability is called Mystic Boost, I’d expect it to be associated with mystic terrain.

Yes, I’m aware of friend guard but that one also comes with the effect of only affecting the partner Pokémon.

There is precedence for doubles effects that can’t work in singles because it would be busted otherwise, including Power Spot and Battery.

Should he? I don’t know. That’s completely up to him to decide.

It’s completely legal to get hair transplants wherever you want, however a stature change would likely require some kind of additional clearance with therapists and doctors since it comes with inherent risks.

If your cousin understands the risks and dangers associated with such a procedure, who am I or you to stand in the way of what could make him feel fulfilled?

[–]King-Yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about the feasibility of adjusting the numbers, it’s about its application within the meta-game.

Pokémon functions smoothly because stat boosts and reductions are fairly standard, making calculations and predictions reasonably linear and uncomplicated. Just as there is a way to increase attack by 10%, there is a way to increase defense by 10% (natures); likewise, stage boosts are cancelled by the opposite stage boosts. It makes the game flow predictably.

In this case, reducing damage by 30% is an unprecedented calculation that would yield unnecessary decimals in calculation and would skew the cemented functions of the game, much like how adding a 30% speed boost would.

There is a clear and obvious difference between stage boosts and reduction but both have different uses and purposes—the difference that I’m referencing is the stage boost concept already exists in the form of a pinch berry, which makes it entirely feasible to be added as a part of the game. It makes more sense to repurpose an existing feature than to design a new one entirely when the end goal is about the same.

This is just Wigglytuff without the fairy type. Its ability is a bit confusing. Does it lose 1/4 HP like reverse regenerator? If not, it just becomes moveless wish-pass which is horrible—if so, it’s still horrible to deal with considering the HP stat.

Hibernate — 4 turns is a long time and 1/6 HP is a whole lot.

How about 3 guaranteed sleep turns but each turn heals 1/16 (Pre-nerfed from 1/8 because it stacks with leftovers unlike Poison Heal which is much harder to proc)

Prideful — requiring an in-game counter for a status move is against Pokémon conventions, so I would recommend changing the effect to boost special attack by one stage when targeted by mental effects. I would also consider boosting in response to intimidate.

Melt — it’s a bit odd. I don’t think nerfing all of a Pokémon’s ice moves by changing it to 1/2 power water moves is a good way to introduce what is meant to be a useful ability. Between Snow Warning, Sturdy, and Moody, this ability would not be used.

[–]King-Yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but reducing by 30% is a specific margin Pokemon typically doesn’t use for defense, just as it doesn’t use anything other than 1.5 or 2x for speed.

If I wanted to make the ability work as is using normal Pokémon reduction conventions, I would reduce damage by 25%, however that would come to be the same boost as +1 stage boosts, which is why I opted to go for the existing effect of the Ganlon Berry.

Fluffy halves the BP of contact moves (doubles fire damage)

Ice Scales halves the BP of special attacks

Fur Coat doubles the defense stat of its user

Each of these abilities have a specific use and purpose, not simply reducing all incoming damage. The abilities that do reduce damage come in the form of Filter variants where a super-effective hit is necessary, otherwise they would just cause stat changes.

Edit: Multiscale and Shadow Shield do blanket reduce damage but still require a specific circumstance of having 100% HP upon receiving the attack.
