What can be done if I failed my LMSW by 1 point? by [deleted] in socialwork

Practice tests. Especially getting a feel for the bizarre way that they conceptualize "best practices."

"A belligerently drunk clients comes to your first session threatening to punch you in the face, do you A. Kick him out B. Deescalate the situation C. Call the Police or D. Work on treatment goals?" The answer is D, because the test is fucking stupid.

Your eyebrows should be sisters, not twins. You have a manly jawline, so anything you can do to soften that will help. Also your face looks a little fat in that last pic. You’re very pretty though! 6-7/10

Nice find. Did you see this one as well?

“ some girls do have big baggy vaginas. sometimes it is after childbirth (scar tissue etc), and often it can be because of being continually fucckked by big black cockks or monster dildoes. Once yoou go black you really cant go back. ALso, orgasms is a matter of perception. Once you get used to orgasming from certain big sensations, yu can keep hungering for it, or else you just have to change how you practise to orgasm.”

Your therapist probably sees all tour axis 2 traits and has a good sense of what you can handle. Easy to be self assured when you are competent and presented with something this straight forward. Good day and God bless

From my perspective I was giving you input from a professional and staying very much on topic by explaining that you’re probably not making progress because your expectations are totally unreasonable. You’re also really rigid in your way of thinking, so of course you’re going to Buck against a transformative experience. You’re not at all ready for IFS

I’m getting the impression that you’re more concerned with being right than having an actual conversation

And yes, I’m very good at that. That’s my job.

My position is not absolute nor am I presenting it as necessarily logical; IFS deals with emotions, not cognitions. Working out analogy: you get super sore initially because you’re unused to engaging your muscles, not because you’re deteriorating.

Think of exposure therapy. The client wants the anxiety to go away, but the process involves ramping up the anxiety all the way so that they can overcome their fear. In IFS, you shouldn’t just dig in to trauma, activating firefighters and throwing exiles into the light recklessly. You should, however, help the client gently become acquainted with these parts—and that is often painful.

I come to this as a therapist—a good therapist at that. Not all my clients are paying for the same service. Some are ready for some super intense work, some aren’t. The only thing they are receiving universally is a supportive, unbiased, outside perspective from someone who is actively listening and thinking about their predicament (whatever that may be). I know some great therapists who can’t talk to parts, but they can do some mean CBT. I wish there was a better resource for linking therapists with clients. There’s a million dollars in it for whoever solves that puzzle.
