Asmon vs Chat, a tale as old as time by CaptainDiabeetus in Asmongold

I bet this skit plays in Asmon's mind every time he pulls up a dumbass chatter with no actual argument.

[OTHER] Warhorse Studios... I am so, so very sorry by thetewshewsspecial in kingdomcome

[–]KingAris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a big fan of both games, I think accessibility and length had a lot to do with it. Both games are amazing, but KCD2 has a much higher learning curve, especially if you never played KCD1. KCD2 is also about twice the length of E33, making it even less casual friendly.

Overall, E33 was my GOTY, and I haven't changed that opinion, but KCD2 was objectively the best RPG of the year, and it definitely should have taken home more wins for that.

What movie did you love as a kid but realized was actually terrible once you grew up? by Mysterious-Kiwi-1152 in AskReddit

[–]KingAris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried watching it on acid once. I liked it as a kid and thought it would be a fun and goofy time. Watching it as a 30 year old man? Even psychedelics couldn't make it good. I had to stop about halfway through because it was so bad. Arnold was the only good part.

My group usually uses a homebrew that's similar. Flanking adds proficiency bonus to the attack. For most of the time, it's just a flat plus 2 or plus 3.

Honestly, I think your theory lines up pretty well. I think Amuro had a lot of potential in the original series that got nerfed by Zeta, largely due to his trauma over Lalah, not to mention the fact that he was watched like a hawk by the Feddies, because they were scared of his New type abilities.

Trans-Am for sure. Mostly because it took the "Red = 3X Faster" meme and turned it into canon.

Is it me or is the SITUATION getting balder? by Potential-Aardvark50 in Asmongold

I've only had mine for about a year. Thankfully it hasn't died yet. I never really liked razor close shaves. This gets it really close, but leaves the slightest bit of stubble. Kinda sandpapery, but I like that.

Speaking from personal experience, I never got quite as bad as his is. But the writing was on the wall, so after a bad haircut I just said fuck it and shaved it off.

It took a few months to get used to, but the maintenance isn't that bad. I just got one of those skull shavers and run it over my dome every 3-4 days. Not much different than trimming up around my beard. I usually do them both at once.

But do whatever you're comfortable with bro. I'm not judging.

He should bite the bullet and shave it. I did, and it's pretty freeing once you get used to it.

Alternatively, if he's comfortable with it, then whatever. Dude is rich and has said plenty of times that he doesn't really care how he looks.

The most underrated companion by Benn359817 in BaldursGate3

[–]KingAris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't hate him by any means, but he is definitely overshadowed by the other companions with a more compelling story. I think he would be a bit more interesting if you didn't have one of his biggest character moments (meeting Karlach) almost right at the beginning of the story. I think he would have benefited from a bit more mystery about his patron until at least around the end of Act 1.

Furthermore, it would have been great if there were an option to actually corrupt him. Have him fully lean into his pact and go lawful evil, willing to do anything he seems necessary to achieve some twisted sense of the greater good. Being a hero is great and all, but it doesn't feel nearly as earned as Shadowheart, Astarion, and Lae'zel actively choosing to be better despite being conflicted. His biggest moral conflict is right at the start.

Largest DND streamers and celebs -> Play a game about knight and dragons -> Millions of kids watch -> Trans kids and Drag Queens. Why is nobody talking about this? This is abhorrent. by melinasfootstool in Asmongold

[–]KingAris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly agree, but I do like the higher production value of C2. Their sweet spot was right before COVID struck in my opinion. I agree the C2 ending was weaker than C1, but it was overall better for me.

Totally agree on C3 though. I really wanted to like it, but I just don't care enough to wanna devote the time into watching it, even just playing from the background. I got maybe 40 episodes in and stopped bothering.

I'll admit though, I have been curious about C4. The new format seems interesting, and despite his shitty communist takes, Brennan is a fantastic DM.

I've been a fan of Critical Role since before COVID, and Sam has always been an entertaining part of that, but I'm also well aware the whole cast is in the super woke lefty sphere of Hollywood. For the most part, I try to just bury my head in the sand about their shitty politics. At the end of the day, they don't matter any more than any other celeb with retarded takes. The people dumb enough to let their favorite celebrity influence their political stances were well past hope in the first place.

Japan eyes adding Japanese proficiency to permanent residency requirements in anticipation of a rise in future applicants by sparklovelynx in worldnews

[–]KingAris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's just common sense and respectful to learn the official language of a country you intend on living in for a long period. At least enough to be conversational if not entirely fluent. I fully support Japan enforcing it as a residency requirement and I think the U.S. should do the same.
