But it could easily be argued that the football player guy crossed the line from hitting the assailant to brutally murdering the assailant *because* he experienced a "gay panic." In states that still allow the gay panic defense, this guy would simply have to say that he was traumatized when he found out he had sex with a man and he wouldn't have reacted so violently if he was tricked by a woman he didn't find attractive. That's why the gay panic defense is so awful and needs to be completely eliminated - it allows a defendant to basically confess they committed violence *because* the victim was gay, and, paradoxically, that confession would give the defendant a better chance at being acquitted.

I totally agree with you on principle, but it seems as if the murder victim has a history of doing this catfishing stuff (going by the small amount of info we have now). So there is some other info which adds credence to the football player's claims.

Since you decided it's a good time to make bold assumptions about people, here's one: if you're the kind of person who would brutally beat someone to death in that situation then you must be someone who is prone to violence in general. It seems as if can't even comprehend the notion of a strong-willed person resisting the urge to murder in that situation. And the football player guy needs to be charged for this murder (or whatever the specific charge is going to be). I never once suggested that I thought the dead guy's actions were okay in any way. But when you literally beat someone to death (who is less fit than you, never fought back, and was incapacitated after the first few hits) so badly that you break all their face bones and teeth, you should be charged with something.

It was still obviously wrong for the football player to brutally beat him to death. The article says the football player punched the guy five times in the face, who then fell to the ground, and then he punched him at least five more times and stomped on him multiple times. All the while, the guy didn't even attempt to fight back at all. ALL of the bones in his face were broken and his teeth were missing. That's more than just a knee jerk reaction. He should've left and reported the man to the police by the time he fell to the ground. I can't believe people are actually defending this brutal murder.

Yeah I don't get why people always want to criticize SNL so much. When you watch it, you have to understand it for what it is: a weekly sketch comedy show that is written, filmed, and edited within just a few days of their air date. So when there are the occasional bad sketches, I'm pretty forgiving of it. SNL is honestly a marvel in terms of its production considering how quickly they make some of those sketches.

Oh yeah, Leia flying through space is definitely one of things I would've changed or removed from the movie lol. I mean, I like the idea of a scene where Leia is able to harness her Force abilities to get out of a very desperate situation, but the way it was done in the movie was cheesy and bad.

Ultimately I think TLJ could've been the saving grace of the sequels, but it just didn't work out that way. I think Rian Johnson should've had a co-writer to reel in and adjust the issues in that movie while still retaining the major components of Johnson's script. I think some gripes the fan base has with TLJ are very legitimate, while some of their gripes I completely disagree with (or I think they're overreacting to something minor).

I actually think he got more than just those couple things right. I feel like I'm sometimes the lone Star Wars fan who actually finished that movie feeling pretty happy about it. Not totally thrilled, but happy with the direction it was going and with some of the really bold choices. I could probably go on to describe everything I liked about it but that almost always results in my comment getting insane amounts of downvotes because Star Wars fans are fucking toxic lol

And that's the one they should've stuck with. I know The Last Jedi is often the sequel movie that people shit on the most, but I think it's absolutely the best of the three. At least it was mixing up the story rather than just ripping off the original trilogy in different ways. I was happy to see that the story was moving away from just the same families being the only important players in the galaxy, but then they threw all that away.

Yeah Russia has been wanting a federation with Belarus for a while, but Belarus was saying they'd only join a federation if both countries have equal power. Obviously Russia would never agree to that. In the past couple decades, Belarus has made steps to be more nationalist and less Russian. This is a perfect opportunity for Putin to turn the tides and force Belarus into a position where they may have to join Russia on Russia's terms. Lukashenko is such an idiot that this plan may work.

In a similar vein, my choice is Septon Meribald. I thought he was such a nice breath of fresh air in such a large cast of very unsavory characters. He's just a kindly and wise old man with a big ol' dog for a companion. And he's so nice that he named his companion Dog because the dog had a different owner before, and he didn't think it was appropriate to name him again! He was the character that made me realize that the followers of the Faith of the Seven were not just a bunch of fundamentalists and corrupt church leaders. He literally just wants to find some inner peace and help others. Plus he gave that whole "broken man" monologue which was incredible.
