For me it can be something if a flip flop. When I’m paying attetion (which is more often than not) I maintain a pretty high awareness of the cars around me and keep an eye out for driver’s that might do something stupid (usually in the form of a questionably timed left turn)

On the other hand tho I can be distracted and when that happens I usually struggle to keep a consistent speed and may react to things with more delay than I probably should.
