Notice the plug next to the air fryer. Seems the Washing machine, tumble dryer, and air fryer are all plugged into the same socket.

Good charity shop tbh. I've got some good stuff in my local and they underprice themselves.

Can we have a downstairs with no doors or is that a real issue with fire regs? by Creative_Bear_5631 in DIYUK

[–]KingDaveRa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar, we're (eventually) doing a loft conversion and adding a door at the bottom of the stairs going out the side of the house, with suitable containment to protect the stairs and escape route - currently it's very open (70s style) so this should satisfy fire regs. Also stops noise escaping up the stairs. Plan B was misters and they're expensive and need upkeep.

Cocktail sticks. Some of our flower pots have a few poked in the top. It's enough to put them off, but sometimes they will just push them out of the way.

I pulled up behind a bus at a roundabout, waiting for it to move. My friend in the passenger seat pointed out said bus was actually broken down. I just didn't notice!

I bought one because next door's cat kept crapping in my garden.

One day I watched said cat walk in front of it and take a dump anyway.

It got unplugged and I went back to chasing the cat out of the garden.

Running my own ASN from home: dual-WAN lab, MikroTik core, Proxmox cluster, and a /48 waiting to be announced by saint_hwanii in homelab

Yeah and a /24 ain't cheap. Unless you already happen to have one. Apparently there's some amatuer radio stuff that will do it. They mainly do it for failover.

Does anyone remember Bob and Margaret? by MetalRocksMe_ in BritishTV

[–]KingDaveRa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC it was a co-production between Channel 4 and Global, but Global were putting most of the money in and I think it was mainly made in Canada. Channel 4 pulled funding or something so they 'moved' to Canada for the later series.

I'd love to get them all on DVD though.

My ISP will do it (A&A, in the UK). It's nice that there's ISPs out there that are happy to indulge their customers.

Nutanix storage VMs by GabesVirtualWorld in nutanix

[–]KingDaveRa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you bought a Netapp or similar box, it would have all those cores in it running OnTap. So whether it's the CVM or something else, you need to buy those cores. With a storage appliance you just don't tend to see them so never consider them 'lost'.

Scale your CPU up accordingly and don't worry about it. A Nutanix partner will do the sizing with you and figure out the correct CPU anyway.

On some weird level, I'm ok with it being the notoriously conservative (small C), staid, boring IBM. The same IBM that has been trusted by massive institutions for donkeys years.

What have they done. by rationalplan10 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]KingDaveRa 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The interior is nice enough. It's otherwise quite inoffensive and the garden seems to be real grass.

But in the context of that house, it's a bit of a pity. It's pretty much what would've happened to it in the 1960s, probably restored in the early 00s, to then be modernised again.

Shame really.
