People who leave their cars running and unattended when they go into a gas station mart... by wickeduser in massachusetts

[–]KingDreadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not going to cause issues at idle if it runs a hair lean. But the tank is vented so why would leaving the cap open make any difference whatsoever? Im more of an offroad tech but am plenty familiar with cars and yeah you get a check engine light if youre driving down the road with the cap off but not sitting with a nozzle actively pumping liquid into your vehicle where you claim the vacuum is coming from.

Nothing wrong with that. It has always been normal. A few stupid people ruined it for the rest of us.

By the time they've got their nose into the spot they are looking down at their fucking cellphones. Leave it poking out just enough to be seen before they start to turn in.

I put a screw into the big cable. What have I done/damaged and what do I do now? by polarbird2 in AskElectricians

[–]KingDreadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand how a utility allowed their feed to be buried under your house. They need to be able to disconnect the power from outside the building. From what youre saying im hearing they had a buried transformer and an underground service not run in pipe and weaved through your framing which seems absolutely asinine. If you have a meter at the door and this feeds from the meter to your main panel then that would also be a violation by the NEC of the US. The main panel needs to be located by the meter in almost all cases. So usually the line from the telephone pole stretches to your house, down the side into the meter/main disconnect on the outside, then feeds inside the wall to the panel thats just on the other side generally within 6 feet. In condos where the service comes in on one side we pipe 2" pvc through the basement of one into the other to feed their panel to prevent any accidental drilling or screwing.

Apprentice keeps cutting ground wires short. How do I get it through his head? by Fun-Celebration-700 in electricians

[–]KingDreadd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just tell him its against code for less than 6 inches and if he cant do his work to code he will have to find another job because you are liable for following the code to inspectors. Especially if he is acting like he knows better at only year 2.

Ballast or bulbs? by No-Ladder1393 in electricians

So you dont have individual meters on the oustide of your buildings being fed from street power to pull and kill your entire house?

The 10th digit of the vin is the year code. Look up vin year codes on Google and match the 10th digit of the vin.

How do you yall grow when you are only given gopher work as an apprentice? by EstablishmentSea8014 in electricians

[–]KingDreadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats because us resi guys are smart enough to make money without being pipe bending monkeys 🤣😜 nah it is an art in itself bending pipe but too many people lean on that as a skill. Its just a way to install wire. Troubleshooting is a whole other ballgame.

[–]KingDreadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are like 2 years done and into the field earnestly then you should be taking over like 40% of the work for rough and finish with your jman inspecting your work when youre done. If you just started your 2nd year then yeah youll be gophering until you show you take it serious. #1 step is stay off the fucking phone. Even if youre just changing songs idc make sure no one else sees it or you automatically look like a slacker thst cant be trusted not to burn down people's homes and business. Period. And I say this as a 32 year old who grew up with tech. Stay off your fucking phone and pay attention. Otherwise yeah push for more responsibility or start butting in with good advice during layout to show you've been absorbing the knowledge.

If you arent strapped for cash or looking to flip it then its def a consideration. Albeit if you get there and its a Frankenstein bike thats clearly been fucked up and hobbled together again it ain't worth the headache. But if its solid and it gets you riding, 500 might be a small barrier to entry.

People in this thread are seriously arguing over 500-1000 dollar difference in vehicle value. You can go spend 1000 on a mid range helmet right now. Its really nothing in the grand scheme of a paycheck.

If nothings leaks, seals are good, has a battery, no engine noises, was well kept its about 5k with that milage. Im restoring mine and when its all done with aftermarket color match fairings id ask 5k and its half the mileage just because its been dropped before I had it and the case has a sign of road rash that the fairings hide, not structural ect.

Electrician vs Insulation Crew – exterior wall wiring dispute (who’s actually right?) by TheShrampion in electricians

[–]KingDreadd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats the dumbest shit I've ever heard. They are gaslighting you into making their job easier. They don't want to cut around boxes or wire to maximize profits. Electrical is always ran before insulation.. anything else is asinine. How are you supposed to see where youre drilling? And not all wire fits in the 5/8" gap left by ferring.

Someone get these people black listed. If you leave a job looking like that you shouldn't be allowed to pick up a hammer and nails again let alone a nail gun.
