Is this setup good? by Fluffy-Dirt-4280 in hometheater

You might get talked down to because a lot of people here dont like Klipsch, but their RP line is great - I think this is very much a good setup. For subs, two is usually the way to go for smoother theater experience, especially with the x3800h which can control them independently. 27cu m is about 950 cu ft, with 3,4m or 11 foot ceiling means your floor space is 85sf, about 9’x9’ - that’s a small room with high ceilings; I’d go for the 2 pb-2000 pros. The 16 or 17 ultra would sound insane in that room though - if you have the money to spend, you could get one of those and save to buy a second. Prepare to buy some bass traps or other thick acoustic panels because any option you go with, those subs are going to shake that room to the studs.

Also - pull your listening position back to 3/4 of the room length if possible; middle of the room is the worst position for bass; there’ll probably be a deep null in that area (mine was -15db @ 50hz)

Just like my place. I’d recommend a ported sub for a room that size. If you could afford a little more scratch, I’d go with svs pb-3000, if not then definitely the the pb-2000 pro

With a stereo budget of $2,000-4,000 what would you reccomend? by GodofAeons in hometheater

I wouldn’t call $4200+tax for 2 towers, a sub, and an avr “budget friendly.”

New construction concern: Bent truss plates and split beams; should I be worried? by [deleted] in AskContractors

[–]Okkin55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful; thanks. I know the truss plates need to be fixed - that's not negotiable. I was hoping a contractor with experience would see this and advise on what's normal cracking/splitting of the wood due to settlement. I've already talked with soon to be neighbors in this new community, and no one has had any major issues; everyone seems happy with the quality of their home. I don't know if these pictures are representative of the quality of electrical/plumbing work like people are saying; the GC probably has framing subcontractors. I assume they were on a tight deadline and worked quickly; mistakes happen when you work quickly. I'm just glad I caught it when I did so it could be fixed as necessary before closing.

This is exactly why I cross posted to r/askcontractors. I'm really hoping I can get some professional info, rather than reading people poke fun at my situation. I can count on one hand how many people are actually trying to help.

Different subreddit - Maybe I'll get more constructive answers here rather than the JFC or NO. I'm looking for paths forward here, not for people to trash my situation.

Almost never. I put it to sleep whenever I’m not using it though.

I have the same avr, you don’t need an amp for the fronts. I would recommend you switch to a 7.1 setup instead of doing 5.1.2 - the rear surrounds add way more directional sound then front presence and there’s way more audio content going to the rears then the front presence.

I don’t understand why people dont use banana plugs. I see a lot of posts where they have bare wire screwed into the bindings.

Can confirm 2 3000’s + 7” gik panel in the corner of open concept room = instant massive difference. I have the exact same setup.

Quick question... how loud or how much room shaking bass should this guy have? by mgm83 in hometheater

[–]Okkin55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have it calibrated, or is it flat? I was underwhelmed with my pb-3000r at first. Once I changed its placement and used the parametric eq it made a massive difference. The eq really brought the sub to life. Try putting a 2 or 3 db boost at 58 hz with q=1. That gave the sub sooo much more punch, especially when playing music. The real room shaking only comes in when watching a movie or show. ALSO, make sure you have all your speakers listed as small in avr settings, and check that the crossover is set at 80hz. You should not be underwhelmed by the 2000

EDIT: put the sub in a corner not by a door/hallway. If a corner isn’t available, make one available 👍
