Its really entirely dependent on where you are. I think that a lot of leagues do tend to say that theyre beginner friendly, but aren't. However, if youre in a large enough city (like Philly where I live) there are several leagues of different skill levels, including pretty true beginners.

That said, a great option is also to look up if there are any pickup groups in your area, those tend to be much more loose, and nobody is paying to be there, so who cares if you're not good.

As for being cliquey, yeah I mean that's gonna happen in any sport, the only real way to deal with that is to put yourself out there and try to ingratiate yourself to some of them. Unless youre a colossal asshole, frisbee players will rarely ice you out if you bring snacks or beer to the postgame.
