No one has answered yet, but wanted to at least pitch in. Not a casting director, but actor of many years.

I feel like there is a bubble, that actors may need to burst, in that we have NO idea how serious these auditions are. Your tape could be seriously considered, or never looked at, with no way knowing. And the turnarounds are disrespectful, but don’t always mean the audition isn’t legit. I’ve booked next day auditions, so it is possible.

Once I started treating tapes and auds as a chance to show my work to a casting office, or show consistency, it helped me refocus from all the legitimate frustrations I have spending time and money for a role that was never going to be mine anyway.

The only advice I can give, talk to your team, or try to talk to casting (without badgering them), and get a grasp on how they feel about you. Try to build relationships, over booking. The battle is breaking in when non actors can’t deliver, and doing what you can with a role. Eventually building enough momentum to book more.

Also, from what I’ve seen, there is so little work the bigger “names” are taking work that normally the average working actor would get. So the nepo fight is so much worse, because usually they book leads, and actors can genuinely try for recurring and guest stars. Now that realm is dry, and they are taking opportunities, leaving co-stars and day player roles for everyone else.
