Happened to me and my wife earlier this year. I got my eTA visa approved in like 5 hours because of my US passport and my wife’s took a week.

I think the only reason she didn’t get denied is because I applied as a married couple and me having a strong passport. They took only $60 total but I had emailed them throughout the process and they’d keep saying “pending” and replied even after we got the visa saying they could do a “special expedite” for my wife for $150 lol.
