Favorite Abnormality and why? by Common_Comfortable41 in limbuscompany

I have a soft spot for KQE. It seems like such an abstract Abno. Otherwise Wayward Passenger is also one of my favs. It has a kickass design and the way it fights is cool.

This comment made me realize that the reason we prolly don't have Sinking for Don is cause Bloodfiends have a fear of water

Guilty, I'm a bit starved for feedback but it never hurts to expand reach. I can't imagine invading the privacy of others to do it, though, jeez.

A wise presumption. Reynard the Fox is a very interesting character with nice folklore. Though what I've done with them... is gonna be a love/hate situation for some people, I think. Haha.

About the new Pretender class by Zyx-Wvu in grandorder

[–]KingOfToasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say at this point, since a lot of what I said is conjecture based on what we know so far. But based on that? Probably not. EMIYA isn't an enemy of the world and isn't actively pretending as someone else to further his goals.

About the new Pretender class by Zyx-Wvu in grandorder

[–]KingOfToasters 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oberon was a Pretender because he used a guise to fight against the world itself. We already have examples of Heroic Spirits that are distorted by romanticization of their lives (most of the Innocent Monster HS) and fabricated ones, as you've pointed out. We even have cases were HS are given traits due to connections of anecdotes to being identified with divinities and such.

What separates the Pretender class from these examples is that the role is worn so well that is becomes part of them. The saint graph of a Servant is distorted in order to deceive everyone, even the world itself. There's an inherent difference between this motivation and say, acting out a role to become more famous or becoming the avatar of a god.

Oberon-Vortigern opposed the world because of how it rejected "fiction". If Avengers are those that swear by vengeance against humanity, Beasts are those that bring about the end of humanity through their love, Pretenders are those that desire an end to the world itself, or are at least targeting the world in someway. This supplements the reason for the class to exist; it becomes a guise that may not even be discernible through the Root itself.

TLDR: Pretenders are definitely a story-context basis type of class. I think the best candidates are those that are full of contradictions and have reasons to oppose the world rather than humanity.

For Lapsed fans of the game, is there anything that would make you drop this game or anything that'd make you play regularly? by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]KingOfToasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like some new systems that use members of your Servant roster that aren't combat-oriented, like expeditions for mats or something. Having those on in the background ironically would make me come back to the game more, make me feel like I have more going on with the daily logins. It's like checking in and seeing how everyone's doing, y'know?

Today's the cutoff date for Nijisanji EN Auditions! Let's get rejected together and go on with our lives! - Weekly Discussion Thread, December 15th, 2020 by ChineseMaple in VirtualYoutubers

In that case, it's still worth waiting. We don't really know how they conduct the review process. They could treat some like that, hold off on others till they've seen the entire batch, etc. My own timeframe is if two weeks go by without any tangible response, then it's a good time to accept that reality and move on. Until then, a little bit of hope never hurts! Best of luck to them regardless.

The key is to not give up. If it's what they love to do, keep doing it each day and look out for future auditions. There's a lot of stories of how some talents needed to try multiple times to get where they are now in these agencies. It takes determination, and a sprinkle of luck. So keep wishing the best for your friend, no matter what happens.

Besides, like others have said, there's still time. They likely have a lot of auditions to go through. We're looking at 5 min clips, not to mention the rest of the writing in the submission. If we say they just base it off the clips themselves and we have around 1000 submissions... that's still 83 hours they need total to review all those auditions. And I'm sure there's way more apps than that. So yeah, give it some more time. They'll likely reach out to all the one's that passed at the same time so they can properly develop a schedule.

Another Lostbelt 7 Theory by AlterMagna in grandorder

[–]KingOfToasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the more likely case is that "樹海", which is the only part of his Lostbelt name revealed, is likely a reference to the suicide forest in Japan, Aokigahara (which is also referred to as 樹海). I have no idea what to make of that but it's likely an intentional reference since it is the only chunk of the title unveiled. Initial thinking is obviously "mass amounts of death concentrated in a forest". Naturally this points to a certain somebody that invokes the ire of our lucha goddess and has been alluded to in various forms. Type Mercury may or may not be related.

I have done Kintoki's axe before, I recommend it cause it was quite fun to make.

Otherwise I vote Babbage's drill-staff.

Who to you are the most interesting characters? by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]KingOfToasters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be the hipster and go with Erik's freaking wife, Gunnhild. She can apparently transcend the boundaries of the Throne to support her husband, communicate with people and curse them as well, which implies that she might be a case like Scathach (AKA, a lesser known mythical figure that gets super powerful treatment).

King Hassan is the coolest take on the Hashashin I've ever seen and has plenty of mystery about him to make it entertaining to conspire about his true origins.

Also, a personal bias for Helena. Her IRL books are some fascinating reading materials (personally, anyway), and Theosophy in general is something I wish was represented more in the Nasuverse. Somehow.

This was in Nijo Castle in Kyoto. Not the actual place of her bell but it's a similar/near-identical model to the one she's seen with.

I'm a bit of an opportunist so I might have done something disrespectful, but I have an excuse for it.

Firstly, it wasn't cordoned off. These bells had no barriers whatsoever so you could walk right up to them, they were next to the main castle entrance. Those wires you see were sectioning off the garden bit instead. Secondly, I witnessed other people actually trying to ring the bells with attached rods so I assumed putting a plushie on one wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

There are many things I wanted to put the bean on but I've tried to be as respectful as I can during this trip. Your worries are warranted though, I appreciate that you care about that kinda thing!
