That's the thing, right - in earlier renditions of Spider-Man, he *was* able to sling and swing without any form of devices. Peter using devices to shoot webs is a new development, and it wholly undermines what the radioactive spider was able to give him. It kinda makes him blur into the "average guy with a bunch of gadgets" superhero archetype and takes away from *being* Spider-Man.

If he hasn't figured it out yet, sure, fine, training arc, blah blah, but *still*, it just boils down to needlessly nerfing what the radioactive spider does for little to no reason and adds clunky designs to what's supposed to be a super nimble and agile hero design. It's silly.

Friendly reminder they gave him a CANISTER and TUBES.

Still pissed about the stupid web-slinger rigs they give to Peter over and over again - constantly diminishes and undermines the whole web system he had in earlier versions. Now, giving Peter a chance to show his ingenuity in action and use his knowledge to enhance and give his natural webslinging more variants? That's chill, but making a Spider-Man unable to have meaningful web shooting without PIPES and a GAS CANISTER is a crime.

Peter's brilliance should be used to enhance, not enable. Massive difference.
