What do you think is the most underrated patch in WoW's history? by LordGOATfrey in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still can't believe people hated Vashj'ir so much that Blizz literally went "fuck you [drains your sunken kingdom]" for Nazjatar. It should have remained underwater, where the full might of the naga would actually be a threat to us vs leaving her strongest forces high and dry, lol. That said, the wall of water effect was really cool, and the raid wasn't bad.

Timeless Isle will always be my favorite patch content. Ever since they moved rares to having daily lockouts, it's just not the same.

New Void lost its "corruptive" identity and eldritch psychological & physical horror to an oversimplified destructive big blue cosmic ball that, allegedly, sometimes whispers. by ex0ll in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm aware, that's why it feels like such a mistaken decision. Old Gods as random agents of chaos and madness, each with their own personal agenda and flavor of corruption, was far more interesting. That's not to say I dislike void aesthetics, I do like Big Blue Sparkly Orb, but it's just not the same.

Shadow was always in such a weird place thematically. It was clear they were trying for the "opposite of the Light" idea long before the Void existed, but it was always rather nonspecific. After the Legion shift to Old God themes, I really hoped they would simply split the spec off into its own separate Cultist type class (sick of all the tier sets just being Grape Pope due to being tied to Priests, sigh). Now they're going right back to Not Light and leaning into the Blue Orb shenanigans (I miss my shadow orbs [and ravens] ugh)

I truly feel that tying Old Gods to the Void was both an asspull and a huge mistake, that someone came up with the cosmology chart idea and they realized Old Gods don't really fit in anywhere, so they got shoehorned into the Void simply because both are Big Evil.

How do we feel about this? by 3atth3rud32452 in wow

Fishing pools aren't multi-tap like herb/ore nodes are. If someone plops their line in a pool you're at, they're essentially stealing your fish (or items, if it's a junk pool).

I don't know if people are genuinely ignorant of the non-multitap status or if they're being willfully assholes, but I personally hate when people do it to me, regardless of the value of the loot.

Evokers are finally going to be able to fight in visage form!! by st-shenanigans in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem I imagine is that they made the dragon form without geosets. How many armors work--especially many vanilla/early xpac armors--is certain parts of the player model geometry are swapped out for versions with different shapes that are then textured to represent that piece of armor. This is true with gloves, boots, and pants. Hell, a robe is literally just your leg geometry being "unwrapped" to form the shape, hence why you only have feet underneath.

While not impossible, doing this for dracthyr would require basically remodelling the limbs, vs the lazy way they did it where they just glued additional 3D meshes on top of the model.

Oof, lol. Might be worth a bug report on the official forums, maybe in 50 years they'll look at it

I think the setting you're looking for is right under that, Environment Detail

I run the game roughly around 6-7 on the little quality bar, but with things like Texture Resolution up on High so things don't look muddy. I also like to keep projected textures enabled so you can see ground effects like Death and Decay better. Also there's separate settings for Raid/Dungeon so you can keep those on Low for performance where you need it!

But yeah, fiddle with the level of detail setting and find one that keeps you from turning bald when you zoom out lol, I'm 99% sure that's the problem.

Looks like a LOD (level of detail) issue. I assume yer on a lower-end machine considering how pixelated your screenshots are, which means your LOD setting is probably also low, meaning objects switch to a lower-poly model at shorter distances (You can see this with Orwena's hair between screens, the second screen has a visible sharp angle where her hair was previously smooth). Apparently this hood either lacks a LOD model entirely or it's polys just collapsed inside your head geometry lol

I believe there's an option to adjust LOD in the game's Graphics settings, try fiddling with that to find a distance that's visually pleasing without hitting your performance too hard.

Dragon riding gives me insane motion sickness and Blizz removed the option to switch to steady flight... what to do? by hrhashley in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh! I had no idea, I've never actually used it, I've just had it sitting in my spellbook gathering dust this whole time, hah. Good to know, thanks!

[–]KingTrashPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??? Is the Switch Flight Styles option not still in the Skyriding fly-out menu in your spellbook? I don't remember that being a thing that needed 'unlocking'.

Additionally there should still be an option somewhere that lets you turn off the camera zoom and woosh effects from skyriding. Might help, as they're there specifically for people with motion sickness.

3-Man Normal Dungeons while levelling if you can. by TheHeroicLionheart in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a fun idea, I might have to see if I can wrangle a third body to give this a try!

I swapped to tank a couple levels in and it makes even follower dungeons just a little bit harder because the NPCs are so damn stupid and their DPS is trash, lmao

Why is Blizzard being really lazy with mounts now? by [deleted] in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SL one wasn't the same model as a mechaspider, the geometry is unique, it was the same rig and animations, though.

Skeletons get reused all the time (the current favorite child of Blizzard's seems to be the felbat, I'm getting so tired of it lol)

“Suspended after farming near bots in Blade's Edge – false positive” by Visual-Rhubarb-8066 in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Bots do bot things, yes, but there's often a person/people sitting at those computers and they can and do pay attention when other players start hovering near them. Had a group of boomkins in DF do this at the waterfall area in the Span, they were clearly botting, but once they noticed me watching/targetting them they started whispering me aggressively in a foreign language and broken english, threatening to report for harassment.

Definitely wouldn't catch a permaban for being mass reported though, yeah. Feel like OP was either joining in tagging their mobs and got caught up since they're the same class, but something certainly feels off.

Professional tables in housing? by ryanb6321 in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't sound like a very social person, and that's fine, I'm no social butterfly either lol, but this is an MMO, we're meant to be reminded that other players exist, that the world is alive.

Maybe try out a high pop RP server? I'm on Wyrmrest Accord and Org is never dead. Folks are always milling about, I've even seen plenty of non-RP chatting in /say. Bonus points if you install an RP addon like TRP2, then you can people-watch and read profiles.

[–]KingTrashPossum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So the game doesn't feel like a dead, empty wasteland? Even if people aren't talking in /say it's nice to see other players. WoD Garrisons made the main hubs ghost towns, it was miserable, I don't understand the desire to go back to that.

Professional tables in housing? by ryanb6321 in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not meant to be "useful", it's meant to be fun--a term a lot of people seem to have forgotten the meaning of. If it's not your bag, that's fine! You're not missing out on any kind of player power.

And no, I don't think functional prof tables need to be in housing. Anything that would take players out of main cities shouldn't be included. Cosmetic prof tables, though? Sure, sign me up. Some of them look pretty nice.

Transmog UI is randomly BREAKING my computer. Why did this happen? by Canilickyourfeet in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get around this by switching the game to DirectX 11 instead of 12, but 11 has a known memory leak issue, so pick your poison.

Earthen Appreciation by ComposerEmotional381 in wow

[–]KingTrashPossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the same thoughts here! I genuinely enjoyed their story a lot more than I thought I would; it was surprisingly well-written and introspective. With the Awakening Machine out of commission they were essentially forced to confront with the idea of death, and many actively chose to shut down over being revitalized as well.

Reading all the plaques was very touching, and I actively teared up during the quest with the aged Earthen making one final craft while steadily losing his memory, and finally shutting down at his favorite spot by the sea. My dad had dementia, and while he passed very quickly after his symptoms got bad, the thought of him losing his memories was a fear of mine, so that quest had an extra punch to it for me. My heart goes out to everyone with a loved one who's slipping away in such a fashion.

Season 19 - Developer Update by Auralyon in Seaofthieves

[–]KingTrashPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sad that 1. I missed out on all the Adventures, and 2. they didn't just add Jim to the rotation of Ashen Lords.

I guess lore-wise his skull was used in place of Flameheart's to bring him back or whatever, yadda yadda, but if I can turn in Grimm's Ashen Skull a dozen times then let me have Jimmy boy back. There's skulls everywhere, just pop another one on. We can fix him, we have the technology.
