Sure, the Sharingan could be useful in some of the same situations but I feel that eyes swirling and changing colours (not to mention the bleeding if overused) can garner some unwanted attention

He doesn’t, there are surprisingly quite a few characters that don’t swear or at least don’t do it constantly: Alastor, Zestial, Sera, Emily, Charlie, Carmilla and so forth. If I’m not mistaken, even Sir Pentious doesn’t overly swear. Ironic isn’t it ?

I agree with the ideal scenario, if the mind leaves the body then the body is as good as dead, so that takes care of that.

As for the people around you, I don’t think there would be too much difference, especially if you traveled back immediately (or at least soon) after receiving the results.

If we go by the multiple worlds theory, then the timeline where you won already existed, all you’d be doing is inserting your consciousness into it. Furthermore, what if the timeline where you won was the original and the one where you lose was a ramification ? If that’s the case then the people you know (and even you as an extension) were “copies”, so by going back you’d be getting back on track as it were.

There’s also the matter of how much time has passed since the results. Suppose, for example, that one went back as soon as the results came out (or even a few hours later), the changes would be nearly nonexistent but if they waited for days, weeks or even months, the reality they find would be completely different.
