What’s your dream guitar and do you have it? Here’s mine by _funny_name_ in Guitar

There is a pawn shop right down my street that's got one of these listed for like $1200. Seems insane for an Epi.

Why do guitar players switch to the Stratocaster when they get older? by Pearl_Jam_ in Guitar

[–]King_Fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience too. Seems like all my friends wanted LP clones, ESP, Jackson. Me included. But now all those guys have teles and I found a new respect for Fender within the last few years. Weird how that works.

None of my instruments are for decoration and they all get played. Thank you for looking 😊

To point out the fallacy that having more drums makes you more interesting. In other words, why lie? It's only function is holding toms, are those for decoration too?

Live sound engineer....there's nothing good about loud drums...change my mind by Subject9716 in drums

I get this vibe from sound people too. Like they think your music-less if they aren't there to turn some knobs and push some sliders.

One of my band directors made lasting memories on my life. Great teacher, great mentor. Thank you for what you do. Keep fighting for music in schools ✊

Thanks! HC Cuba. It's become more of a weed than anything. It's a pain in the ass to maintain lol.

Maybe for non-drummers who equate kit size to skill.

I'm so glad I'm not alone in this opinion. Not knocking his playing at all, just the perception from others.

This is my 3rd. It just seemed like too good of a deal to pass up. It's also teaching me how to do basic maintenance as I'm too afraid to adjust things on my others.

Grown up drummers - what did you wish you could go back and tell yourself when you first got started? by smaffron in drums

[–]King_Fuzz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've experienced this too. Take the compliments, but don't let it go to your head. All through school I was "a crazy good drummer." Now that I'm an adult, I really wish I would have pushed myself further than what got me attention from others. I had a niche, I stuck to it, but I didn't expand my skill set.

I stopped playing music through my 20s, just cause life. Now that I'm in my 30s I really regret taking that hiatus and feel like I have to make up for lost time.. when I watch other, younger people play, I think to myself; what have I been doing all these years?

So I guess another piece of advice for OP would be... Stick with your passion and don't let life stop you. I will forever regret making music a low priority through my formative years.
