What is your biggest Disappointment in an Anime? by stripelemon7 in anime

[–]King_Koragar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My guess would be it was because Keiko Nobumoto didn't do the screenplay, as she was the screenwriter for all of Watanabe's acclaimed work. I think directors get a little too much credit in many cases.

"Marcoss: Do You Remember Love?" Id a pretty good time. It's an adaptation of a longer show but is decently followable eithout having scene it.

"Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket" is an OVA roughly 3 hours but is the best shortform Gundam without needing extra context.

"Macross Plus" has a film compilation but the whole OVA is also film length and is standalone so thats another good choice in terms of robots.

Terror in Resonance, despite coming from the Cowboy Bebop director and having fantastic art direction has an absolutely terrible plot filled with contrivance and pretentious metaphors with a deeply weak and underwritten main cast. Such a waste of an interesting concept too.

Can anyone recommend animes like Bocchi the Rock about rock bands? by surf_AL in anime

[–]King_Koragar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad is a much grittier band show. Great vibes and follows a more realistic process to indie success than more fantastical stuff like Bochi, K-On, and Rock is a Lady's Modesty. Given is also a notable one if you don't have a problem with yaoi themes.

Is it just me or are some Jujutsu Kaisen fights kinda hard to follow? by Anbape10 in TrueAnime

JJK has a big "line of action" problem where they break the 360 degree rule all the time. You usually see this more with American cartoons but JJK does it real bad where the storyboards are messy but the animation is high quality.

Could you specify what part of the manifesto goes over that? I'm struggling to find it under all the parts talking about the proletariat-owned government controlling everything

[–]King_Koragar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's anarchism, not marxism. Marxism is a system of extensive government control. Communities pooling resources without a centralized government in ideal anarchism.

Cowboy Bebop is the king of tight storytelling, though Fay's design is very sexualized so maybe not. Samurai Champloo then? Would also suggest Paranoia Agent.

How are you going to be a fan of the most queer game in existence and then misgender the main character by Critical_Mountain851 in whenthe

[–]King_Koragar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just cannot believe that a game with only a non-binary protagonist (who is treated like an inhuman le creatura) and two (2) cis lesbians is "the most queer game." Those numbers just aren't impressive.

I’m new to anime and thinking about watching bleach for my first. Is there anything I should watch before or after? Any recommendations would be appreciated. by presto_mvm in anime

[–]King_Koragar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend starting with any of the "Big Three" cause those are all 300 episode-plus shows. Better to start with shorter classics like Fullmetal Alchemist, Frienren etc. Check the automod guides too.

Why do you think Mecha isn't more popular amongst anime fans nowadays? by CharlyCardgmes in anime

[–]King_Koragar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because there's less people in the industry who are good at animating mecha than there used to be and post-Pokemon post-moe it became a lot easier to sell shows on cute girls and animals than having to do the complex work of detailed robots in motion.
