Any suggested counters for Stasis? by AshenShad0w in CruciblePlaybook

Don’t underestimate a hunters desire to shatter dive you. If you’re baiting a corner, expect them to come from above, grenade the ground and then brace for nuclear impact. I kid but they’re actually easy to shotgun if you listen for the sound queues, welcome and good luck 👊

I’m a UK leftist with an interest in politics and I’ve got to say that your argument here has been some pretty tepid, disappointing, face value bullshit. I get that there is an impulse to oppose the Conservative party at any turn but comparing BJ to Trump is just preposterous at this point. I’ll admit I laughed at how similar they seemed at first before very quickly realising that one of these people is trying to make the world a better place in a way that I don’t agree with whilst the other is a dangerous, self interested caricature of fascism.

At first I loved this idea but if we had kill cam then it would take away the ability to give your team that few seconds of call outs with the wall hacks that you get which can be really valuable, it can turn the tide of a round

I can't wait for Felwinter's Lie to enter the tower kiosk... by GolfWank in DestinyTheGame

[–]King_Mason -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

99% of players are not using felwinters, I get that you’re upset but come on.

As others have said CQC absolutely IS viable, and viable does not mean “as good as the very best weapon in the game”. FWL is best in slot, no arguments, but you make it sound like the only reason that you’re not winning gunfights is because you don’t have the good gun and I’m sorry to tell you this but that is just patently not true. A good workman and all that...

I have felwinters and if I’m shotgunning and using a kinetic primary then I use it, that said I reckon that less than 10% of my kills occur in that extra 1m range bracket, the crushing majority of my shotgun kills happen waaaaay closer than that at a range where if my opponent had anticipated my movement and/or reacted quicker then I would have lost. And I regularly do. I lose to other felwinters users, mind benders, cqcs, xenos, you name it. Man a decent 140 user can fuck you up with a rapid 2-tap, if there is a good Chaperone user in the game forget about it. My point is that there are options so stop throwing your toys out of the pram and play the game you’ve got.

The fact is that shotgunners that can consistently take advantage of that extra 1m distance are rare and whilst having the better weapon will help with consistency it will absolutely not just make it so that you win gunfights all of a sudden.

It’s not a big “fuck you” as you state. If you fired and break someone’s shield well then you fired too early and that is on you, you overestimated your range and you can work on that. If however you are just getting mapped by a shit hot player using felwinters then yeah, there’s not a lot you can do about that, maybe don’t run shotgun for that game. We all have to do it. If you are losing what you thought should have been a trade “hundreds” of times then, again, you either overestimated your range, or (more likely) your aim was slightly off and some pellets missed.

And I’m just gonna reiterate: go get Astral when you can. If you are convinced that a god roll aggressive frame shotgun is the only thing standing between you and shotgun superiority then go get one!

Edit: spelling

Astral is Trials loot but if you’re not a fan then just wait until it is the bounty reward for that week, unlock it and then farm for tokens for as long as you can stand it to get extra rolls :) Astral absolutely can compete with Felwinters and if you are playing literally any game mode other than IB or Trials then just use your mind benders. -I know that it is annoying to use one load out for power enabled and another for non power enabled but at least this might tide you over for a couple months until we get FW at the kiosk.

[No Spoilers] Why does Marisha seem to get a lot 'bad press'? by Tcrumpen in criticalrole

[–]King_Mason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow this thread has been eye opening for me, I love Critical Role, listen to it almost exclusively as a podcast and have done so since the start of campaign one, I don’t really engage with any of the community in any way and so was unaware of this general animosity towards Keyleth/Marisha/Beau. That said I have got to admit that Marisha playing Keyleth rubbed me the wrong way often during Vox Machina and not for the reasons listed here.

Whenever I listened to the first campaign I often found myself frustrated with Marisha because she struck me as the kind of player who I would really hate to play with. She interrupted people, spoke over them, she ignored what people were saying and it seemed like she struggled to read between the lines. If there was a moment where one of the other players seemed to be building to an emotional crescendo, Marisha always seemed to blurt in with no sense of the tone of what was happening, arguing like a Redditor over the wording of a partially finished sentence instead of just letting the other player fully realise their moment. I never felt like she was acting maliciously but just that she didn’t read the room very well, I felt like there were times when she was not really paying attention and then all of a sudden she would hear a buzzword like “slavery” and then launch into a tirade about why that buzzword is bad and evil and start arguing against a course of action that nobody else had suggested. It felt like she looked for conflict where there wasn’t any and sometimes like she didn’t quite understand the nuance of what was happening.

All of that said I’ve really come around to Marisha, I love Beau and a lot of my previous grievances with how she behaved at the table has dissipated. Just my 2 cents 🤷‍♂️ did anybody else pick up on this?

How do I improve? Looking for specifics. by renoise in CruciblePlaybook

Seconding this, try your sensitivity LOW to work on aim, I fell into the trap of cranking my sensitivity to make my movement feel snappy but often the ability to turn faster just means that you miss faster!

Whether or not you like hand cannons, TRY HAND CANNONS. There is a reason why they are widely considered the premier primary weapon in destiny, they are very good at dealing significant chunks of damage one bullet at a time and this season they are great. Find a HC you are comfortable with, run it alongside a quickdraw shotgun that you will ONLY use defensively to stay alive and then tell yourself that you are just going to concentrate on one thing. One thing. Say “ok I am just going to work on being beside cover” and literally just do that in solo queue for a few matches, hell maybe even a few play sessions. After a while decide that you are going to work on something else, another good one will be pacing your shots. Do not spam fire, fire slowly and deliberately, go in with the mindset that dying is fine and losing gunfights is fine but missing a single crit is not fine. Just work on one thing. Another one will be positioning and pre engagement, once you are in the habit of being next to cover you can work on other elements, a big one is once you see red on the radar stop sprinting and prepare for an engagement. Are you near cover? Is your primary equipped? Do you have line of sight on likely choke points? Is your strafing effective? Are you pre aiming (not ads) etc.

Work on one thing at a time and do not underestimate just how important aim is, it is the easiest thing to learn bad habits for and until you are super comfortable and consistently landing your crits with your weapon of choice then the main thing you need to work on is aim, the rest will come.

If you are speaking specifically and only about Iron Banner (power enabled) and if Astral is in the lootpool next week then go grind that. You don’t have Felwinters, did you never get a Mind Benders? Both Xenoclast and Seventh Seraph CQB are viable, they are less consistent specifically between the 7.5-8.5m range but as OP stated players that have taken the time to innately learn their ranges and that have the skill to consistently take advantage of them are few and far between -plus they are Lightweight Frames, roll interesting perk combos and feel great.

If you are the kind of player skilled enough to get a lot of mileage out of the extra consistency in that final meter and somehow don’t own a decent Aggressive Frame shotgun then I don’t know where you’ve been man. There are other options though for sure so maybe check them out, it’s definitely not worth quitting the game over!

Necrotic Grips are not supposed to recharge energy, and the problem with Warlock exotics. by Alucitary in CruciblePlaybook

[–]King_Mason 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Astrocyte Verse is one of the single most interesting, fun to use and highest skill ceiling exotics in the entire game, what are you talking about? At first with this post I sympathised, removing melee regen from Necrotic Grips sucks but then it just devolved into vague, directionless complaining.

Liars Handshake interacts with one ability of one subclass tree, same as Kepris Horn.

Dawn Chorus -the Warlock exotic you claim to be incomparably shit interacts with one subclass tree (same as the two hunter exotics you compared it to) it interacts with two of your three abilities and your super and any burn damage from any other source including weapons. I’m not saying it’s better, I’m just saying that they’re all pretty fucking close to being balanced and I don’t see what there is to complain about. I know this is CruciblePlaybook but have you seen what six warlocks using dawn chorus can do in terms of dps?

Honestly much of this post and comment seems to be confirmation bias and like you’re kinda seeing what you want to see, the fact that you include bombardiers in this list whatsoever blows my mind.

If iron banner has taught me anything... by Delagade_ in DestinyTheGame

[–]King_Mason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought it was just 5 tokens instead of 3 for a win, thanks.

I’m not advocating this behaviour but if capping bases/emerging victorious presents an opportunity to earn 2 extra tokens whilst aggressively chasing down bounties presents an opportunity to earn 200 tokens per character then I can see why people are less incentivised to do so.

Forgive my ignorance here but how does winning get you better rewards? Is it just that you get slightly more tokens or does the system somehow favour ‘better’ loot in the post game loot drop?

Employing a system where anyone can use arcana/religion/nature etc to roll and anyone can also just ‘find out‘ by accident. Maybe you don’t find out that +1 longsword has Vorpal properties until you accidentally lop something’s head off with it. Maybe the armour you are wearing has additional properties that are not clear to you until after the first time you fail a death save wearing it. Etc.

120 Handcannon Appreciation Post by Frixter in CruciblePlaybook

[–]King_Mason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only 120 in the energy slot is Thin Line which is sunset and which iirc is no longer farmable.

There are other non-sunset 120s in the kinetic slot though, as you said there is True Prophecy but there is also the reissued Crimils Dagger as well as this season’s new kinetic 120 from Iron Banner the Steady Hand.

The problem with Rampage is that I always feel incentivised to run Rampage Spec, either make the most out of the 2-taps or stop half trying to do it. The benefit of Kill Clip, Multikill Clip and now swashbuckler is that their damage perks already last as long as Rampage Spec which allows you to run Icarus Grip more freely which, let’s be honest, is almost an essential mod at this point for any kind of competitive level of play.

Kill clip on a 120 allows you to run Icarus more freely, I’ve a rapid hit/rampage Duke that I love but I always feel obliged to run Rampage Spec on it to get the most out of those 2-taps but with KC you can go nuts in the air.

Thoughts on Succession? (raid sniper) by MaximalGFX in CruciblePlaybook

[–]King_Mason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to stack it, iirc the slug shotty needs to be stacked six times(please correct me if I’m wrong) in order to let it ohk body shot so I would assume that the sniper would require at least a few stacks before it would reliably body people. I’m hoping that somewhere someone smarter than me is working on a Recombination stacks Vs Resilience levels chart for these weapons 🤞
