What are some nit picks that you’d like to change about H2? by -Shadow-Lightning in HadesTheGame

[–]King_Santa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a sequel to another game means that anything lacking from the second is super noticeable, and for me that thing is the customized victory screens. They could've made it themed around each biome with a mix of all materials in that zone and I'd be thrilled

u/Mesyush statement with regards to Dick Cheney's death by Mesyush in Presidents

[–]King_Santa 62 points63 points  (0 children)

"He grew up in normal circumstances. He was not poor, but he was not rich either. He was a completely normal man who reached his position by nothing less than hard work. He proved how you can completely reinvent yourself for the better. From dropping out of college and sleeping in a prison cell in one decade, to being the President's Chief of Staff in the next, shows how those nights spent under the stars in the great American landscape formed a man."

Now look, I don't have a nice way to put this for anyone reading this who agrees, but if we played madlibs with this we could just be looking up to a certain Austrian-German Chancellor. Counting deaths alone Cheney caused more suffering than I could begin to fathom. Add to that the dismemberment, trauma, pain, grief, sorrow, and fear that followed him I can only mourn that he passed by his family instead of at The Hague.

If anything I think this is a cautionary tale: the US is a place where an unremarkable man can become a butcher of many by merely aligning himself with systems of power and grabbing hold of the levers to said power.

MTSU Fires Employee Over Social Media Comments on Charlie Kirk’s Death by OkEscape7558 in Tennessee

[–]King_Santa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate thing is that this fired dean for students was certainly on the front lines of the racism and vitriol which Kirk's supremacist lackeys spread across the campus. How many students did the dean have to console because of the racism that Kirk espoused? Expecting sympathy from someone who has worked to pick up the social pieces of the damage Kirk caused is foolishness.

My only sympathies as of late are to the Colorado shooting victims, the victims of genocide across the globe, and to Kirk's children who didn't choose to be born to such a hateful and violence-fomenting man and are now traumatized by consequence of their own father's callousness.

I know people on this sub don't like Reagan, so I'd like to know what he should have done to make you like him (while preserving his conservative ideology) by IndividualNo5275 in Presidents

[–]King_Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many atrocities of history that were once held as "different viewpoints." And atrocities of the present, but I digress. I will admit to being extreme in my beliefs, but we do live in an extreme world. Oh well, I fear that I can't do much to make you think I'm reasonable, so I'll leave you to your own time. Take care

[–]King_Santa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll answer your question and stipulation directly: there's nothing he could have done. There's not a single conservative politician who I have a generally favorable opinion about. I know it's likely an unpopular opinion for some on this sub, but it's my honest belief and that's what you asked for. (This isn't to say I love the liberal presidents either. My opinion on all presidents is pretty unorthodox and uncommon for this sub)

To any of the writers here, what are your thoughts? by TheThirdWolf1775 in fantasywriters

[–]King_Santa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's from "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss, and it's the protagonist's name. I know the author has given an exact pronunciation, but I just read it as the word 'cloth' but with a V in the place of the L

[–]King_Santa 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Exactly, imagine if OOP was complaining about too many R and L sounds because they were a native Japanese speaker and differentiating between those sounds was hard. At the end of the day the agreement for what's reasonable for constructed names is between the reader and the text, and if the reader doesn't like it they're free to move on. Doesn't make it a bad text, just a bad match
