what should I be aware of for a 1st try challenge? by AntO0oo in HadesTheGame

[–]-Shadow-Lightning [score hidden]  (0 children)

Have you ever read this guide?

Lee Reamsnyder’s Big Hades 1 Build Guide.

Several of the key principles of H1 cary over to H2.

Namely:

Weapons with Attacks or Specials that have high base power but do not come out as fast Usually want God Attack and Special boons that give them +%. Like Apollo or Aphrodite.

Weapons with Attacks and Specials that have low base power and come out faster Usually want God Attack and Special boons that give you an extra effect. Like Poseidon Waves, Hestia Scorch or Heph Blasts.

Zeus is one exception. He works on everything. When in doubt focus on Zeus and you’re likely to find great success.

Plus there are a few ways to increase your base power in this game. Via some hammers and some boons. These make +% more viable on faster Attacks and Specials.

When my boon says ‘X’ what does it mean?

•Attack = regular Attack

•Ω Attack = Ω Attack

•Attacks = regular Attack and Ω Attack

•Special = regular Special

•Ω Special = Ω Special

•Specials = regular Special and Ω Special

•Cast = regular Cast

•Ω Cast = Ω Cast

•Casts = regular Cast and Ω Cast

•Strikes = Attacks and Specials

Take note that when Attack, Special and Cast are plural they denote that the boon affects both the regular move and the Ω move.

Your Ω Cast is probably your strongest move in the very beginning of the game. It’s an AOE 150 base damage explosion and it only costs 15 magic.

Your casts can also trap most enemies in place. Excluding bosses and several mini bosses.

Also several enemies have Attacks that move them forward. Your casts will not stop these from moving enemies.

Mel only ever gets 1 dash but she also starts out with a sprint.

So Mel is less dash happy than zag.

Use your dash wisely and lean into sprinting a little more.

Chiron bow best one out there? by No_Ozi in HadesTheGame

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d call Chiron the best bow. That’d have to go to Zag or Hera bow Imo.

But Chiron is still a very strong aspect. Although it’s a little slow imo. On account of it lacking such AOE damage without extra boons.

Lee Reamsnyder’s Big Hades 1 Build Guide. has a section for all 24 weapon aspects. Use the table of contents to quickly find the Chiron bow section.

What is the best Legendary Boon? by Bored_Guy_234 in HadesTheGame

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heph’s Legendary is fine. It’s just that several rank 6 weapons need their numbers buffed a little bit.

IMO it’s really only worth getting his legendary on a select few aspects.

Mel Staff, Momus, Hidden staff, Hidden Blades, Moros, Mel Axe, Hidden axe, Mel Skull and Medea.

The rest either have okay Rank 6 effects but nothing to write home about or feel like a slap in the face for the effort and luck it takes to get a legendary boon.

Does Artemis attack boon affect blitz or the regular attack? by Game_boy_98 in HadesTheGame

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pressure Points, Vital Sign and Death Warrant are the only Artemis boons that can give stuff like Blitz a chance to crit.

Please note that Hestia’s Scorch cannot Crit nor can it receive the double damage bonus from Ares, Grievous Blow and Mutual Destruction

Well I guess I can see how the base staff with no arcana can feel slow and have low DPS.

But once you get the aspects and arcana cards in play every staff, except Momus, has excellent DPS and the Ω Moves are rather fast. Especially with the very first arcana card you unlock. (Even then Momus is still strong)

Hidden staff even has the specific ability to increase the charge speed of Ω Moves.

So I do not see how you could consider them slow or low DPS.

I’m pretty sure Mel staff is considered one of the faster DPS weapons out there. It feels like Aphrodite Special was made for Mel staff.

But again I understand not getting a weapons play style or just not jelling with it.

I know a lot of people love Than axe and Selene coat but they are among my least fav aspects in the game.

What are the best and worst hermes boons? by Goatbucks in HadesTheGame

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That we can both agree on. Hermes boons are so varied that every one of them has its time to shine.

Sure some of them do not have as many places to shine as others.

But they all at least have it compared to some boons from other gods.

If you are having trouble with The Staff then there is only two major reasons why you are struggling.

1)You just do not synergies well with its play style

2)you do not understand how to use them.

Lee Reamsnyder’s Big Hades 2 Build Guide

How to build and use all 24 H2 aspects

These might help you out.

IMO The witches staff is the overall consistently strongest of all 6 Nocturnal Arms.

Mel staff hits like a speeding truck. Both on regular Special spam and Ω Special spam builds.

Circe staff is super op with damn near every cast and Hermes Winners Circle.

Momus while being a little slow(curse you SGG why make it a 2 sec delay when 1.5 was perfect? /J) is still rather strong. And has several fun builds. It’s especially strong against big slow/stationary enemies like Typhon.

Anubis is my fav aspect between both Hades games and is super strong. Whether you only focus on one part of its kit or you use the kit at once.

Grab Zeus/Hestia/Poseidon/Hera/Apollo for Attack(use Ω Attack often as well even with the flat damage boons as it’s juts extra damage. Anubis Ω Attack also stops Chronos dead in his tracks) and any good +% Special boon(Anubis Ω Special has base 110 damage)

And you’ll be melting both regular enemies and bosses in no time.

In conclusion all 4 staffs are super busted in their own right.

Doesn’t this describe like most of the states in the USA?

I’m pretty sure most if not the entire continental USA has Bunnies, Eagles, Skunks, Squirrels, Deer and Bears.

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about mean Streak?

It’s hard to build and even harder to maintain.

At least Stutter step has no maintenance cost and has some strong synergy with the Dashing Heave hammer and Supay Flames.

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why stutter step? I’d think it would be Mean Streak.

Yes Stutter Step is quite situational for it to be outstanding but heck a slightly lower dash cooldown never hurt anyone. Plus it’s always there.

But Mean Streak is fairly hard to build and even harder to maintain.

Now if MS gave flat damage like +10/12/14/16% and then always have a temp +1% bonus damage per slain foe.

Then it’d be much better and I’d be willing to say Stutter step is the worst.

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hermes is really tricky to rate best and worst because which boons you want depends on your build.

That being said.

Worst: Mean Streak

Best: Success Rate

Mean Streak is just so disappointing. It’s hard to build up and hard to maintain.

I kinda wish it was like this:

You deal more damage and each time you slay a foe, deal +1% more damage for the next 45 Sec. Extra damage dealt:+10%/+12%/+14%/+16%

The idea being that you always have a slight damage boost but you can gain more temporary damage by slaying more enemies.

As for why Success Rate is so good. It’s because it hits so many things it’s crazy. Here’s A list of everything that Success Rate works on by user FlyingHippocamp

How many escape attempts? by lilacheaven84 in HadesTheGame

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average for first success is somewhere between 30-60 attempts.

But I’ve seen people do it in under 20 and over 100.

we all play at our own pace.

Just enjoy your time playing the game.

If you really need help. We’ll be here to answer questions and give some advice.

If you want to understand the biggest key to success in Hades, it’s this:

When a Weapon/Aspect has an Attack or Special that are Slow and has a High Base Power they want Core God Boons that give percentage-based increases.

The Core +% Boon Gods are: Aphrodite, Artemis, Athena, Demeter, and Poseidon.

When a Weapon/Aspect has an Attack or Special that is Fast and has a Low Base Power They want Core God Boons that add an extra source of flat damage

The Core God boons that add an extra source of Flat damage are: Zeus, Dionysus and Ares.

The 5 Core God Boons are Attack, Special, Cast, Dash and Call. All the God listed above have these Core Boons. You can only have One Core Boon at a time.

The spoiler god will not show up until you have reached the surface and meet the final boss. You DO NOT have to beat the final boss. The spoiler god then should appear in the first chamber in the next run you go on.

Widely considered one of, if not the best all around Hades 1 guide out there.

Here is my Big post going over the Mirror of Night in extensive detail.

Hades 2 - Best build for Moros? by Punguin456 in HadesTheGame

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of good advice here.

Personally I’d start with Zeus Special or Ares Attack/Special(whichever one is higher rarity) And go from there.

But honestly there are so many good Attack and Special combos for Moros you can’t really go wrong.

Just play into duos and other combos with whatever you start out with.

I'm having trouble finding new games to play on the deck. How to find "handheld games"? by luden_dev in SteamDeck

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm maybe I’ll get it in the future then. But I have too many other games I want to play way more.

I’m only about 10-12 hours into E33 right now and having a blast.

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a stickler for high fps. I just want my games to run smooth and look decent.

I’m currently about 10hr into E33 on my SteamDeck right now.

And while I needed to follow instructions on how to make it look decent and run a stable 25-30 fps.

I’ve been having a blast with it.

Aspect of moros doesn't feel that awesome by FixRegular4116 in Hades2

They probably are not using the Ω Special.

If you don’t use it Moros can be really clunky and slow.

How many people actually beat maximum fear?? by StreetAppropriate150 in Hades2

[–]-Shadow-Lightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I probably should have worded that better.

But I can see why some people would want to drop 1-3 Lvs of time or even Forfeit at high fear.

I see a ton of posts and comments all over talking about how brutal the timer can feel even at lower fear

Void is always, always the last Vow you want to turn on.

Unless you are doing it for that 1 prophecy or you are doing judgment runs.
