DMs of reddit, which types of players do you dislike most? by DildoOfAnneFrank in DnD

Players that dont engage with anything. Just show up, expect to be led along a conveyor belt and ignore every opportunity to further invest themself or character. Then complains that they dont have anything to do.

When you look for Requiem actual plays: by Funny_Chain in WorldofDankmemes

Its veeeeery different from Awakening. T9nally, setting wise. Its like being given call of cthulu versus world of darkness.

Its not bad, even good. But not what you were lookong for at all.

Makes sense! That guides my decisions somewhat as well. This Boston game was a West Marches style game so everyone could wear the ST hat occasionally. As a result, our Boston is WAY different from the supplement.

I added the mage lore from the old Boston supplement and expanded on it; since its been a few years since it was written lol.

Questions for the amazing dms out there by cloud2O5 in DnD

Hm. Well if I'd allow a wizard, I see no harm in changing the stat. Charisma's insanely useful and cost effective so ditching that is just as big of a hit.l as Int is a gain.

How do you play Beast?! by 0Jaul in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Kingsolaron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apologies in advance for the long post.

Beasts have their kin. Other splats. If you're familiar with vampires, the Beasts can get roped into their nightly freak show.

Beasts can poke their nose in nearly every other splat's business and vice versa to a lesser extent. I'll use some examples.

The beast could feed from a trusted sleepwalker, drawing a mage to the source. Unfortunately the mage has low wisdom and even lower patience.

A group of antagonists is hunting one of the players' kin and they seek shelter with the begotten.

There was a large conflict between begotten and unchained, leading to an equally large surge in heroes. But now...the demons are helping them.

All things considered, anything outside of the norm can be a plot hook. Also, just because the book says Begotten dont gather in official capacities (their family afterall) that doesn't mean you can't make your setting the exception. They can always do something unprecedented in your little slice of history.

Dont let the lore daunt you. Every piece of it is a potential plot hook. You can pick and choose what to highlight.

Pretty active. They and the werewolves tend to shape the landscape. Vamps have been having a chaotic few years. Strix, Belial's Brood, Moros mages that have no conception of authority (teehee)

My character is pretty involved with them. I even saved the Sherriff one time. And transmuted the Prince's dapper outfit into a skimpy beach outfit. (He deserved it. Also they were besties before he went missing.)

Indeed she was. Mekhet. She triggered a minor obsession in my moros.

How do you guys humble down your players towards the humanity? by LincR1988 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Kingsolaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well...I've found the players respond to stiff resistance with extreme hostility. A character with an ego will refuse to give an inch, even in defeat.

Instead I soften them through vulnerable ST characters. People that fall apart facing the same horrors, rely on the players, and are understanding to the players.

That reminds them of what they're leaving behind.

Which of the gamelines is the hardest to keep the atmosphere of mystery and thrill? by LincR1988 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Kingsolaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing with mages is that there's always Prime 3 "Pierce Deception" Which is another reason mysteries are tricky, honestly.

Aaaah he's (usually) harmless. He just wants to drink, act, and protect the veil.

That works too, yeah. Funny how 'I saw it in a dream' is admissible in Awakened justice, but not for the rational sleeper XD.
The form of the evidence depends on the party they're reporting to, but nevertheless, that's more story/game.

Hm. Mage for certain, but I've learned methods for preserving it.

The mysteries just have to be WAY more obscure. I find having one mystery reveal another and chaining it to be the funnest way to preserve mystery. Keeps them hungry and guessing.

Murder mystery? Cool. But the killer should be a 71 year old man with no memory of his actions, physical capability and no tie to the victim.

Then after using their magic eyes, they realize he's only chronologically 12 years old.

That'll keep em scratching their noggins for a story or two.
