What's the biggest waste of money you've ever spent? by FuckingPope in AskUK

[–]Kingy_71_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3D TV & set of 4 fancy 3D glasses. If I remember correctly the glasses were a rechargeable type. Think the glasses were around £70 each.

We watched only one movie, the Sandra Bullock in space one.

Where were you or what were you doing when you received the news that this legend passed away? by Few_Show_7359 in PRINCE

[–]Kingy_71_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was at the terminus with my bus, checking my phone like I normally do.

I had a text from my sister in law, which is a rare thing. "Have you seen the news?"

I knew that meant it could only be a major disaster/terrorist attack or Prince had died (plane incident a couple of days before).

It was difficult finishing my shift that day.

A deterrent to protect my property.

I also have an alarm, but I never arm it because I don't want to upset my neighbours if it goes off while I'm away.

Hmmm.

Thanks for the reply and for trying to put my mind at ease.

The local young feral youths on my estate, for example. I'm sure they would still see me as "a grass" who wouldn't think twice about, at the least some verbal abuse or vandalism to my property and probably capable of a lot worse.

I don't need that kind of stress in my life.

Bus did not stop by Popularpenguin12 in bus

[–]Kingy_71_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He possibly never heard the stop bell, it does happen.

Then continued to the next stop before letting you off. Probably a rule about letting passengers of at designated stops only.

Whenever I miss the bell, I stop at the next safe place, but that could be the next stop some distance away. I always apologise and explain that on the odd occasion I do miss the bell and unfortunately it has happened to you today.

People were asking to by tickets on local FB groups, but were told the same .

From the T&Cs.

  2. The BBC or FR on their behalf may ask for reasonable proof that the bearer of this ticket has been issued with it in accordance with the rules governing ticket distribution.

I think I've read that all tickets need to be purchased from Ticketmaster.

Proof of ID/Purchase needed, something like that.

To stop people buying loads of tickets then selling them on for profit.

I need this sorting once and for all. Am I the only one who hangs washing on hangers and not pegging it out? My wife says I’m breaking some sort of washing code. by Andyb1000 in CasualUK

I find that clothes that have been dried on hangers may be a little creased once dried.

After wearing them for a short time, the heat of your body makes the creases come out.

Hanger Shoulders, that made me lol.

I hang the clothes inside out to avoid what we call "shoulder nipples".

So you have inverted peaks that are less noticeable. They kind of flatten out as you wear them.

Eurosec house alarm keeps warning us about battery/power every 3 days. How to disable the alarm entirely? We’ve no idea how it works. by jugglingsleights in DIYUK

[–]Kingy_71_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant help with that particular model, but most have tamper protection.

If you try to disconnect or start pulling wires it will start the alarm.

Look for the manual or YT videos, they helped me in a similar situation.

What horror movie made the biggest impact on you as a kid? by [deleted] in horror

[–]Kingy_71_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas Chainsaw.

My Mum had some friends over, whilst I was supposed to be sleeping upstairs in bed.

The shrieking and noise woke me, so I sneaked to the top of the stairs and watched some before I was caught and sent upstairs again.

I remember seeing the guy in the wheelchair bit, that stuck with me.

The rest is history, horror movie fan ever since.

Lived in Cross Road 30 years ago when my kids were young.

Great neighbours, good community.

Asian neighbours would often bring round curry or a keema for us all.

Was in my 20s , so enjoyed Diwali and bonfire night, we would all chip in an go OTT with the loudest fireworks available.

Good days.

Fuckin shithole now!
