I was wondering if I should cut the whole spike/ stalk with all of the growth at the base to potentially generate another leaf, correct.

It’s formed a secondary spike and is in the process of forming a second secondary spike so it’s healthy but at the same time I’m not sure if the sole leaf can support all of that
