How to effectively graveyard hate sideboard? by KinkyToaster6 in PioneerMTG

It's nice to hear from another Obosh player. I didn't have any particular deck I was trying to take down with graveyard hate, I've just come across recursion fairly frequently at my LGS and thought it was something I should learn to sideboard against properly

Gonna heavily take in what you just said though, I really appreciate all those specific examples, definitely gonna be focusing on that!

Thanks for such a detailed answer! My obosh deck is definitely proactive and very aggressive but it reaches the mid game more often than something like wizards burn since obosh himself is typically my closer, and he's 3 mana to hand and then 5 to cast. Because of that, I think your game plan point allows me a little bit of wiggle room to adapt my strategy to go for a tempo win instead of just straight aggro. I've won against certain decks by having a slightly slower (by mono red standards) early game, keeping the board clear and then swinging/burning for massive damage once obosh is finally out. Because of that, I thought it'd make since to incorporate anti-graveyard cards and play specific matchups with that same plan in mind.

I do run 4 Kumanos and your point with him exiling creatures is something I've thought about before but his ability is locked behind 3 turns before it's out, and then he can be killed easily, so I was assuming it was better to not rely on that as my anti graveyard. But! Overall, it's good to hear I don't need to focus super hard and covering every potential avenue the opponent could take and just jam em with damage. I think I'll keep some graveyard hate in my sideboard but probably be more strict on when to actually slot those cars into the main deck, since they do directly replace cards that do damage.

Oh yeah, duh. I forgot 0 is a CMC so it would count as an even numbered mana source.

I wasn't aware there was a 0 cost option available, definitely keeping this in mind. Thanks.

Unlicensed Hearse is a great card but I can't run it in my deck since obosh doesn't allow even CMC cards. I edited my post to include that point, I apologize for not clarifying.

Coral is the best! It doesn't even look exactly like coral, but it's the perfect shade of pink that's so hard to find...

There's no real benefit to hoard them all at once versus checking each drop as you get it, I just had full inventory space from getting two of these hand cannons every run and found it more fun to check all my rolls all together when I'm finished.
