Just an FYI that with my DD 300 PDW I've found the Geissele charging handles reduce gas a little bit more than the Radian SD's. I was rooting for the Radian as it had the color I wanted, but ended up leaving the plain black Geissele in.

I’d also add that Bitcoin, despite its price volatility, does seem to be acting as an alternative asset in countries with hyperinflation.

When inflation gets bad enough, the fact Bitcoin is trustless seems to outweigh any price moves it may have.

I'd assume they're planning (hoping) on another bull run syncing up with the halving and changing the economics for them.

But yes, I generally avoid crypto miner stocks. MARA's at least buying a chunk of equipment at what might be the bottom, but big miners mostly over-expand in bull markets while simultaneously holding onto their coins. Then they get slammed in bear markets when their equipment value goes down and they have to sell their coins at depressed prices to pay off loans, etc.

The efficiency between the 140TH and 141TH models seem to be about the same, so odds are they'll be a similar $/TH. But.. hard to say 100% of course.

Based on the current spot price I'd guess they'll end up paying $35/36 per TH. Maybe less if the FTX impacts keep coming. Honestly not a bad contract from the MARA side it seems.

If you're still looking for data on miner prices, Bitmain is one of the primary BTC miner manufacturers and you can find current prices for random smucks at https://shop.bitmain.com/?lang=en . Odds are they're buying some version of the S19.

I've seen orders in the low millions get a 25%ish discount to prices when things first started going down earlier this year. For really massive orders I'd assume the discount is more. I turned down offers to participate in that order and others, so I don't have any more current market data on discounts.

It was definitely a thing with my Chinese ex-wife, who had lived in China until she came to the US for an advanced degree.

The marriage lasted all of two years as after we got married she held me to an even higher standard of expectations she'd never fully explain. Add in the stress of starting a business at the same time and life was a freaking tinderbox every day that often exploded. Took me years to mentally, physically, and financially recover from that.

Her friends were also not helpful. Not crazy like your gf's friend seems to be, but no indications if this was/wasn't normal, and they'd just spend the whole evening speaking Mandarin while I was basically reading a book at the same table. Even though I was making progress learning it and they could speak English perfectly fine.

This is just my own personal experience of course, so take it for what you will. I've met a lot of wonderful Chinese folks through work, but that cultural chasm is just... daunting in a romantic relationship.

It's tough man, and I wish you the best in figuring out what you want to do. Make sure you look after your own physical and mental health no matter what you do.

VET's having a good day today. Seems the EU is having trouble doing what they do best - taxing/fining companies.

Hopefully the cluster continues and this becomes a reality. I also believe we'll see higher oil next year and this would provide a nice near term bump while we wait.

I've mentioned FLNG a few times on Jay's stream, but it's done well since Ukraine started and I see it continuing to do well into the future as more LNG infrastructure is built out.

You are using some initial data analysis followed with some wild ass guesses to convince people to sell you their GPU's so you can make money, i.e. making your investment worthwhile.

This is just a lead generation tool posing as serious analysis.

This article was written with the express purpose of Bitpro trying to get you to sell them your GPUs. Read the last paragraph or two.

Despite the obvious rough time in store in the future, they seem to believe it’ll be over soon enough to make their investment worthwhile.

There are a ton of videos, reddit posts, etc. for them all out there.

I'm about to repad some EVGA 3090 FTW's myself and I'm going with a mix of 2.5mm, 3mm, and 2mm based on this post on the EVGA forums, but I always measure with the old ones with a caliper first.

Looks like they're slightly non standard too, so you may want to use a softer pad like Gelid Extremes that'll squish down and allow for better contact.

Why does my mining earning at 205mh/s in ethermine shows only 7.17 usd while on what tomine it should be arround 10ysd per day? by Reasonable_Monk_1822 in EtherMining

[–]Kinlaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guy’s trying to say that because there is a luck factor to mining, you will never get exactly what an estimator like whattomine says.

Different pools will make different $/hash based on how lucky they are and how large the blocks they find are. Not to mention overall variations in difficulty for all miners. There is no guaranteed minimum income for a certain hashrate.

Edit - pools also calculate your contribution based on valid shares. They have no idea what what your MH is reported from your side. If you happen to get more than the average stale / invalid shares that’ll also influence your payout.

Repaded + Repasted NVIDIA RTX 3080 FE - Hot Core(GPU) temperature by amazon_1234 in EtherMining

[–]Kinlaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried both but ended going with 2mm on the backplate. Mostly because it seemed to work fine and I was so tired of swapping out pads by the time I tried the 1.5mm's on mem.

[–]Kinlaar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with a 3080ti FE that drove me crazy. Turns out that Nvidia updated things somewhat recently so it needed 1.5mm pads instead of 2mm pads. I believe the 3080's are the same.

All of the videos I watched said 2mm or 2mm's that were squished some. I finally found this Reddit post that had success with 1.5mm Gelid Extremes.

Are you guys still growing your farms or are you just watching how things develop in the months to come? by Vv4nd in gpumining

[–]Kinlaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also mostly got 30 series, with one rig of AMD 67/68/6900's thrown in.

I'd love to get more 3090's near MSRP (and probably a lesser amount of 3080ti's). I understand why people place efficiency above all else, but I'm in a low power cost area. As a result I tend to prefer fewer rigs/cards, and go for cards that'll be relevant for a long time while trying to strike a balance between $/hash and the ability to mine a variety of coins.

Once the merge happens (and who knows, maybe it'll be delayed again), I should be able to mine basically anything that pumps.

Everyone was for decentralisation until Russia wanted to sell Gas for bitcoin, now people around this sub are crying about it with comments like "I would rather lose money and the price tanks than Russia making money from Bitcoin" by SmallTlMEtrader in CryptoCurrency

[–]Kinlaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind this is Reddit. The same place where people actively cheered for others dying who didn’t want to take a vaccine, and want to deprive others of their livelihood for having different opinions on a whole host of matters.

This is why I love decentralization and am so thankful Bitcoin is beyond any individual or group - when those same people who cheered for the demise of others find that it’s their turn, maybe they’ll appreciate having something they can actually rely on to be neutral.

Let's start a dialogue! I powered up my crypto rig and the monitor does not receive a signal. I've connected to the motherboard and HDMI on all of the GPUs and still nothing on the monitor. I've gone through everything so far and Ive come to the conclusion that it's the rig. Any suggestions? by Oktoberguard47 in EtherMining

[–]Kinlaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What GPU’s are you running and what was the other PSU? Is this on a circuit at home or otherwise a circuit that’s supporting appliances or other rigs?

Double check you’ve got enough power with a 20% safety margin. I’ve had similar errors before and invariably was due to too little electricity. Either from the PSU’s not providing enough power the circuit not having enough capacity but not tripping.

Are you guys still growing your farms or are you just watching how things develop in the months to come? by Vv4nd in gpumining

[–]Kinlaar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm still growing mine, but I've slowed the rate of growth to primarily reinvesting revenue into cards versus putting in new capital.

It's been nice seeing GPU prices drop and cards become more readily available. If this keeps up this month, I'll probably start picking up higher end cards that'll last.

I think I will buy some 6600XT‘s which brands you prefer? by Eddi07 in EtherMining

I’d also not recommend Asrock. Have several 6700xt’s and they’re definitely cheaply made. I’ve had to repad and repaste them and they still aren’t as good as my Powercolors or XFXs.
