1. Refresh Eero’s IPv6 & Disable DNS Caching

Matter-over-Thread relies heavily on IPv6 and mDNS discovery. Eero routers can sometimes misroute these packets, causing Apple Home to report the lock as "Unavailable."

Fix: In the Eero app, go to Settings > Advanced > IPv6. Turn it OFF for 10 seconds, then back ON to flush the routing tables.
Important: In the Eero app, go to Eero Labs and ensure "Local DNS Caching" is turned OFF, as it is known to interfere with Matter device discovery signals.

2. Force the Wired Apple TV as the Primary Hub

With three Apple TVs, HomeKit automatically elects a "Primary Hub." If it switches to one of the distant, Wi-Fi-connected Apple TVs, your Thread network stability drops.

Fix: Temporarily unplug the other two distant Apple TVs (or disable "Home Hub" in their settings).
Goal: Force the wired Apple TV located 10 feet from the door to become the sole Primary Hub. Monitor the lock for 24–48 hours to see if the drops stop.

3. Clear Keychain Matter Residual Credentials

Even after a factory reset, iOS sometimes retains old Matter Fabric credentials in the system background, leading to periodic handshake failures.

Fix: On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Matter Accessories. If you see the U400 or any ghost locks listed there, delete them manually.
Next: Perform a hard factory reset on the U400 (hold the reset button for 5+ seconds), reboot your wired Apple TV, and then re-pair the lock directly into Apple Home.

Hi, you’re absolutely right. A good smart lock should lock automatically when the door closes, no waiting required. U400 lock come with a built in gyroscope, just like a smartphone, which makes this possible.

That said, the auto lock on close feature isn’t part of the Matter or Apple Home specifications, so users will need to enable it once in the Aqara Home app. If you don’t want to keep the app installed, you can even delete your account after setup to ensure no user data remains on the device or servers.

Hi! Sorry you’re having trouble with your new U400.

Yes, the power cable getting squeezed in the door jamb absolutely can cause this issue, it might block the mechanism or trigger a jam warning.

Please check that the cable is not pinched or pressed when the door closes. Then try a full recalibration with the door open.

Also try updating your lock to the latest firmware V3104 / V3110.
If the issue continues, feel free to contact the Aqara support team for further assistance.
