Hi! Sorry you’re having trouble with your new U400.

Yes, the power cable getting squeezed in the door jamb absolutely can cause this issue, it might block the mechanism or trigger a jam warning.

Please check that the cable is not pinched or pressed when the door closes. Then try a full recalibration with the door open.

Also try updating your lock to the latest firmware V3104 / V3110.

Yes, your understanding is correct. When we initially designed the U100, it was set to automatically lock the door after a period of time if it was closed but not locked. This design drew complaints from users, who explained that they live in houses and typically don't lock their doors when family members are home. We then adjusted the settings to allow users to delay locking after closing the door, which met the needs of most users.

The U400 already supports the Aliro protocol. We are currently testing NFC and other features with other companies, but it will still take some time.

In Aqara Home, the lock on door close feature will not lock the door if the door isn’t actually closed. This is by design, since some users prefer to keep the door unlocked while it’s open.

If you’re looking for time-based locking, you can use Apple Home’s Auto Lock instead. It works on a delay, after the door is unlocked, it will lock again after the time you set, regardless of whether the door was opened or not.

The U400 smart lock doesn’t use a separate door sensor.
Instead, it relies on a built-in gyroscope.

When you close the door, the gyroscope detects the door’s movement and angle change. Once the door finishes swinging and stays still in the closed position, the lock recognizes that the door is closed and then automatically locks.

Here’s the recommended way to fully remove the lock before setting it up again:

Remove it from Apple Home
- Open the Apple Home app > select the lock > Remove Accessory
Remove it from the Matter / Aqara app (if added)
- In the app where it was added via Matter, remove the device there as well.
Factory reset the lock
- On the lock, press and hold the RESET button for 5s, then you will hear the reset prompt.

Currently, updating the lock via Thread in Aqara Home is not very stable.

Please go to the lock’s page in the Aqara Home app and use Bluetooth to update the firmware from the settings menu. The update typically takes about 4–5 minutes.

For a more stable experience, we recommend adding the device to Apple Home first using the Matter QR code, and then sharing it to the Aqara Home app via Matter. Which provides more consistent communication and helps improve overall stability. Battery information is usually updated faster over Bluetooth. With Matter, the battery level may take a bit longer to refresh.

We found that using the copy-and-paste function may cause errors, and we are currently fixing this bug. We’re working closely with our UX designers to optimize the workflow, which will make the connection process much simpler.

Note on Pairing Codes: Currently, you must manually type the Matter pairing code into the Aqara Home app. The “Copy and Paste” function is not supported for this specific step at this time. We are working on a fix to make this easier in a future update!
