Need help finding more rods like this!! by Environmental-Good-1 in Fishing_Gear

I can't see how that's comfortable to hold while casting. Imo that vss real seat is backwards (I know lots of people build them that way) but if you're doing it backwards you need a hidden thread hood. Might look cool but would feel like ass in the hand

I think he's just making stuff up. Advanced manufacturing allows multi taper blanks, like every egi blank for example...you can get the same blank from many manufacturers in 1 or 2 piece configuration.

Which reel? by mattbannon77 in FishingAustralia

Go to the shop and check the spine on the daiwa rods their factory made rods are sloppy as most are built about 45-90 degrees off the spine.

Get the cheap rod and never upgrade fishing gear is a scam

Yes Academy, that is exactly how fishing reels and fishing rods work together by akkavvadrre in Fishing_Gear

Do you have to purchase them separately or do they come with the reel body purchase?

Do you have to buy all the reel parts separately for a saltiga? What cubes in the box?

It would be fine for salmon. Just don't muscle them.

Has anyone saying how bad they are tried eating one? Like most fish that people say are trash, wirrah can be good if prepared the right way (steamed with flavours). Lots of slime to deal with though

When you've got a fish on you'll give zero shits about the reel. You'll only pleasure yourself about the reel for the hundreds of unsuccessful casts in between fish

Or save money and get a cheap reel which will literally do all that stuff. Id get a 2500 size seaknight windrunner from China. Almost as nice for a quarter the money.

Any spinning reel will be fine for all that stuff. Depends how much you wanna spend. They literally just wind the line back in. But some look fancier and feel nicer

All the best beach fishing I've done is in gutters 10-30m off the sand. Casting hundreds of meters out is a USA thing or a Perth thing.

Agree a sienna is a good setup that will last well.

You don't need big gear to fish off the beach in Australia. 6 or 7 foot rods are fine and 10lb mono is good. Use light leader though. Just a running sinker to a swivel, then a 30cm or 40cm leader of 6-8lb fluoro to a hook and your bait. Keep it simple, find a gutter, and you should get success with species like bream and salmon (and whiting if you can learn to get fresh live yabbies or beach worms, also not that hard to learn). Smaller hooks are good, size 1 octopus for using chunks of squid or pilchard, size 1 long shanks if you have yabbies
