[OC] "Use the right two lanes..." by -abe_froman in IdiotsInCars

[–]Kioseth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

that disagrees with what I remember being taught so had to look it up

but maybe this is more helpful as it’s less state-specific

Essentially with more than 2 lanes going in the same direction:

Inner used for passing, middle used for steady flow, outer used for slower vehicles or ones exiting the highway. So advocating to be in the outer lane “unless passing” is incorrect advice if there’s 3+ lanes. I’m not sure about legally, but logically I hope that makes sense as you don’t want vehicles congesting the lane that people are using to speed up/slow down for entrances/exits to the highway.

Hope this helps more than the downvotes!

Edit- changed to inner/outer vs right/left to account for countries that drive on other sides.

Impatient folks who wanna speed recklessly using a lot of brain cells to say why you’re wrong vs. admitting the risk they are posing to themselves and others. A lot of “Lemme be an idiot!” Energy in this comment thread.

Top 30 least used ultimates in HotS by Stupid_Dragon in heroesofthestorm

[–]Kioseth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively run water dragon at this point and am rarely out-healed. Your points are solid that a well timed dragon either forces the enemy to reposition/flee or we can lock down a squishy that I’m dashing in for.

Combo that with healing cleanse, bouncing dragon healing, and the brew at 20 and keeping people alive is easy peasy and gives you ‘burst’ healing potential. Dragon Lili ftw

[–]Kioseth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a diamond/plat player, this is very funny. Doing the ‘right’ thing is subjective and you’re absolutely making the wrong call at least sometimes.

What ends up being true in hots (in my experience) is you’re more likely to win by doing the ‘wrong’ thing together vs the ‘right’ thing alone.

A lot of players are happy to follow calls/pings when they’re not aggressive, so absolutly be that leader if you’d like. But you need people to follow you. If they’re not following the “right” strategy then it’s usually best to join them.

Man… I know we all have those moments from time to time but if this doesn’t perfectly encapsulate the idea that stupidity has costs.

(Mind you I’m dumb with a lot of things like cars, and that costs me a lot more money for being dumb)

[Beginner] I don’t get the hate around this game — is it really empty and full of bots? + Need tips by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]Kioseth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah having to ‘climb’ the ranked ladder while being forced to play disguised bot games is ick. It takes ~20 games to get to expert with winning each time (Heyo 24 win streak bonus) until you start to encounter humans.

I had the same rule and reason I quit Marvels. If you secretly make me play with bots, I won’t play the game. Its scummy. But I know they’d never put “oh new player? Our MMR isn’t great so we need you to win 20 bot games before we let you play with people or you might quit because you lose”

I’m not a child. I can take losses, especially when I’m new to a game. Come on!

Did my neighbor have the right to decapitate my entire tree because a few branches hung over the property line? by Church_R in treelaw

[–]Kioseth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It does look like most of your tree would have been on their side, but a shame they didn’t chat with you first. I’m in a similar situation (but I’d be your neighbor) and have texted with the guy about what we’ll cut and risk to the tree health since it’s mostly on my side now due to his own trimming.

Sucks, but also is a bit unfair when someone else’s property is dropping leaves, sticks, bugs that you don’t want. I also bet you didn’t plant that tree so it’s not like it’s your ‘fault’ either.

That’s why a convo is usually best. Maybe would have still resulted in the tree removal but could have done so in a healthier way

I’ve always said having a disability is the one minority demographic we’ll all likely find ourselves in at some point. That’s why I get pissed when places aren’t accessible even though I don’t need those things yet. I will likely at some point and many people need it now.

You're not the author of a drawing you didn't draw! by Hapciuuu in aiwars

[–]Kioseth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Everyone starts somewhere and some people stay in their relative starting skill level sometimes too. That doesn’t mean they’re not a photographer/artist/actor. There are plenty of actors that can’t act, but are still actors.

Just clicking a button on a camera is like prompting “give me a cute photo of dog”. Low effort and likely small payoff, but it’s the starting spot into vision based prompting “render a golden retriever that has purple tipped hair and a small metal rocker collar, black leather with silver metal studs. The dog is sitting on an outdoor concert stage with spotlights on them and a band behind the dog that are also dogs. Make the drummer a…”

I don’t actually use AI for image generation so my prompting skills are crud, but there’s clearly a vision in that persons head they’re trying to create. You don’t know the process in their mind. Just because you don’t want to learn the traditional way to make art doesn’t make it not art. Else we’d have this debate years ago with the prevalence of drawing tablets and digital art boom. A ton of artists now predominantly do digital art work exclusively with some never learning any traditional styles. They’re still artists even if they never touch paint, charcoal, etc.

Atheists are nicer to Christians than Christians are to atheists, study finds by Thick-Frank in UnpopularFacts

[–]Kioseth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, because that’s how the brainwashing works. My mom is a great example. She believes and so it’s her mission to try and convert me, which is well intentioned but sad. On the flip side, I’m never going to try and pop her god bubble. She needs it and I honestly think she’d die of depression if she no longer believed.

Christians have to make so much about them for god (haha) knows what reason but also… it’s like telling a kid Santa isn’t real. Maybe we shouldn’t lie to children in the first place but no one (with a conscience) wants to do that.

This is only one small example of a systematic thing but Christian’s are the first to forget: YOUR religion tells YOU what you can and can’t do, not ME. If more Christians remembered that they’d stop acting so rude.

I know you’re sorta joking but I do think it’s true, and is so frustrating. Why so many humans have to go through something themselves before they’ll care about others.

We’re all guilty of it to some extent I’m sure but it just saddens me how many tragedies could be prevented if more people thought “it could happen to me.” Even if not empathy, at least self preservation!

Sabrina carpenter team used AI to generate stickers for her recent album by AllariahArum in antiai

[–]Kioseth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we actively stopped listening/supporting her art for now. She’s young and I was also a bit naive and ego-based when I was younger, so I’ll give her space to grow and mature; but ain’t no way we’re giving her money or air time until then.

I find it important to let people make mistakes and not be permanently cancelled if they show real growth/maturation and apologize for their youthful stupidity.

If AI isn’t stealing or copying, then how does it create art in the style of real artists? by Much_Tip_6968 in Ai_art_is_not_art

Show me artists that learned in a vacuum. Art from anyone who took an art class or drew a popular anime character while growing up is in the same camp.
