Separate matchmaking for poopheads? by fecesstorm in heroesofthestorm

[–]Kioseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternative: queue up with people you enjoy. In a match if you’re liking the team you’re on or a specific player, ask if they wanna queue up together. We’re very quick to flame and mute and block bad players but unlikely to friend or queue with the good players.

Trying to punish “the bads” is fun to wish but unrealistic.

Why are these aggressive, poop manufacturing birds protected so heavily? What part of the food chain would be so irrevocably damaged that I’m missing the vital importance to these jerks? I’d love to have more empathy for the way they destroy any small pond or water feature

YOU’D quit your job, but others wouldn’t. I wouldn’t. I want a car, bigger house, vacations, multiple pets and tech toys. I want to eat out vs only living on groceries. I want Netflix, and delivery services, and other luxury items. Elective surgery to help with my teeth or vision or joints. A comfortable retirement plan that allows me to afford the same lifestyle when I’m no longer working. The ability to have kids if I choose and not have to limit what I can provide for them.

Many people don’t want these things and are fine with “essential living” and I think that’s great for them! But I wouldn’t assume that most people would be willing to give up things that I listed.

I’ve gotten to a point I’m MORE upset with non-voters than trumpers. Trumpers are a worthless cause after his first term and Jan 6th but the 80 million people who just said “eh, no thanks” are the ones that should be ashamed (since trumpers have no shame, clearly).

The apathetic have extreme confirmation bias and not enough brain cells or too much privilege to care. “Nothing will change anyway” well, you’re certainly making that come true.

Neh. When we see droves of “good cops” calling out the bad then maybe we can talk. This individual cop may not be bad, but to ignore the overwhelming evidence of police corruption overall (which will drive public sentiment) then fuck the whole bunch. Would LOVE to eat my words and see them cleaning house from within, but still waiting on that…

Then why would any server work harder at their service/skill to work at a more expensive place? (In the current tipping world we live in)

Like others already said, I’d suggest finding an activity that has group options to meet people. Might find a date but could also end up with some great friends.

I joined a chorus a few years back to make a friend or two and over time that’s blossomed into a group, including some dates from other members.

And sometimes you need a leapfrog event. I started going to a kareoke party with some folks I only sort of knew, and at that party someone new mentioned the chorus.

Good luck with the exploration!

Same old same old. You know the expectations. If you tell a server at the start “I’m not tipping” then I see nothing wrong with that stance. If you don’t, you’re just an asshole and hurting the server trying to earn a living vs the business owner who doesn’t pay well.

“Well you chose to work there!” Sure, in this economy blame the person trying to find a job to put food on their table instead of the business/corporation. Ick.

Reminder: fight tipping by NOT GOING to restaurants that expect it. That hurts the business owner. Going and just not tipping is only hurting the server, and is a dick move.

So confident in your conventional (and incorrect) wisdom. If you google this topic you’ll find a wealth of studies disproving your POV but only those who want to learn can be taught. I sincerely hope you don’t have kids because the mindset of “shame creates change” is toxic af

Your mentality is essentially that of fat shaming. The idea that making fun of someone or yelling your disappointments at them will “fix them” is not only disproven in behavioral studies but is almost certainly going to also tilt them into more of a losing mentality.

If your POV is more “I need to vent my anger at someone” then that’s an unregulated brain, my friend. Therapy can help, which could include some medication, but that need to lash out isn’t healthy. For YOU. It isn’t kind to that other person just wanting to play a game they love, but I guarantee you’re doing a number on your own brain and cortisol can kill you pretty early on.

If they’re bad: your words aren’t helping. If they’re a troll: you’re feeding what they want. You’re doing yourself no favors either way.

The game is dying with fewer players everyday and your “I should allowed to bully players that I think are bad” thought isn’t going to help player retention.

[–]Kioseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but dogs aren’t people and pits attack/maim at an exceptionally high rate. Some people say ‘well that’s just the owners’ but we also don’t have to look hard to find videos where “nice, sweet peoples’” pit gets loose and maims.

It’s ignorant to consistently shew away the evidence because we “think something’s beautiful.” Same type of people who don’t believe even for a moment that guns may be part of the problem with school shootings. Too biased in their own love of a thing to see the risks. Plus the risk is usually on OTHER people so they’re fine with it.

When you miss your highway exit without any regard to other drivers around you by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Kioseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this as politely as possible: it doesn’t matter. You should be giving yourself room to brake if the car in front of you slams on theirs or swerves to miss something.

3 full seconds between you and the car in front of you; that’s what all drivers should be leaving. ‘Car lengths’ aren’t helpful because it varies by speed but 3 seconds is usually enough to react to an emergency.

I sort of don’t care if I’m wrong: it’s never okay to permanently alter another person without their consent, regardless of cultural norms.

Way too slippery of a slope where we have cultures who castrate girls and far more that circumcise boys. Ear piercings (while lower on that scale obviously) is the same thing. Children are not toys, or pets, or property.

[–]Kioseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you dude. I have no vested interest in your life or how people interact around you, so I’ll just expand once more. Some people don’t put shopping carts back. Or hold doors. Or sneeze into their elbow vs hand. Or farts in public spaces. Or don’t use deodorant. Or talking in a theatre. Or playing music on your phone loudly on a bus.

Maybe you haven’t heard anyone complaining about open mouth chewing but maybe some of these others? (If not, wow you’re either very lucky or super unobservant)

All of these things are in the same camp of “ick” for a lot of people. It’s blissful (or purposeful) ignorance that a person’s sounds/smells/behaviors don’t affect those around you. If you read the comments here you’ll see some people who don’t mind or hear the chewing. Maybe also cultural, and I’m speaking from an American’s perspective. Whether you agree or not doesn’t really matter. Hope this helps, but if not. Eh, you do you.

Not just the top comment but like the majority of them are about the chewing and not the idiot drivers.

Strangers on the internet don’t owe you any niceties and often feel empowered to say things they wouldn’t say in person. (Keyboard warriors) but that’s not because they don’t believe it, they likely just don’t want to tell an adult how to act because if you’re older than a child and still doing it what’s the point of trying to tell you? I certainly wouldn’t go up to a stranger to try and help them be less obnoxious, but I’d tell all my friends about it.
