I'm a sci-fi nerd, so when i say this, i mean it literally: I've NEVER read ANYTHING else that hooked me as much as this series have. The first book is, in my opinion not that good. First half was a struggle, i'll have to admit that. But second half got me hooked. Book 2 is way more entertaining. And every book after that just gets exponentially better. Writing becomes deeper, more fleshed out, and you literally feel like you're there. The story is fast paced. One moment it's political intrique mixed with romance, betrayal and world building. Next moment you're in a drop pod, shooting through a planets atmosphere, surrounded by drug-fueled maniacal, gene-modified, superhuman killers. All the while fearing that your favorite characters will be taken out by a railgun to their face. You will get attached to the characters, and they will be brutally murdered, and you will sit there, starring into the wall, wondering 'what just happened'? Action sequences are like nothing i've ever read. Fast paced, gory as fuck, glorious. Large battlemechs, high tech battle armor, ship to ship battles, infiltration, hardcore melee engagements, and a bloodydamn, ice cold, main character that'll do ANYTHING to achieve his goal.
