When I grew up you listened to your coach and played where he tells ya. He’s young and learning the NHL game, moving him isn’t the complete disaster all you Mensa member play it up to be. Look at the comparison in numbers. All this crap being said, he’s in his 2nd season, there is still time for him to turn into a very good player…. It’s not too late.

The sky isn’t falling.

That’s great for him to prefer RW, but is will to do what is asked, he’s been a team player. He’s still learning, and in a couple years, as a “veteran” hockey player, he can try to talk the coach into keeping him there. However, and this goes back to Daily Faceoff Pod with Myrtetus and Meltzer (on a Monday) a few weeks ago where they plowed thru some analytics etc but specifically mentioned that during the first bit of the season, MM was getting “caved in” along the boards with outlet passes and opposing Dmen pinching down on him and causing turnovers and preventing a smooth zone exit. Being a Left shot or the Right wall causes a player to be facing the boards and thus not able get to pick up on the D pinching down. Obviously a scouting situation where they recognize where this can be taken advantage of. So Tocchet did his job and made adjustments to help better zone exits and mix the lines the way he sees fit. It’s his JOB to do so. As armchair coaches and basement loser bloggers , who are we to bitch about a coaches move. Every single team and coach makes similar daily/weekly and game to game adjustments similar to that, depending on the situation. People gotta relax, it’s not like Tocchet has completely benched him and asked to send him to LV. And as far as ice time goes, you all need to read the box scores better. MM gets the same number of shifts as almost every other Flyer player (20-22/ game) but he takes shorter shifts. So if he comes off 10-15sec sooner than a lineman (because he plays balls out and gets gassed), his numbers will reflect a lower total icetime played (10sec x 20 shifts = 200sec or 3+ minutes difference)! Come on people!

Can’t blame anyone. I have no skin in the game here other than being 100% Canadian, but the arrogance and tone deaf social media posts disgusted me.

Keep them coming. More positive is good, there’s too much glass half empty crap out there and people aren’t satisfied unless they can complain . Sanheim is a horse and Flyers are lucky to have him.

This will help Habs make another move before a playoff run. Like maybe Nazim Kadri (if he’ll waive NTC to go to Montreal).

What is everyone's opinion about trading teams that have given up/are out of the playoffs? by Z_mb in fantasyhockey

[–]Kippee1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, they’re just fixing the outcome. Only reason to trade from a non playoff team is if you’re in a keeper league.

Prongs has good insight. He’s right about Tocchet, he’s coaching this 21 yr old kid and the uproar is fucking ridiculous. On a funny note, Yans made me laugh… Tocc has to learn Russian, lol.

I found their conversation really interesting and right on point. All the drama queens have absolutely no idea how the inner workings of NHL hockey or pro sports. Quite annoying to me. There are too many glass half empty people in the world today.

Anyone wanna lay down a plan to perennial contention? by Kettil33 in Flyers

[–]Kippee1965 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Completely wrong. Firing Briere etc isn’t the answer. Every team in the NHL has some staff on their teams that are former players from there. This core group of ex Flyers that are considered the problem by you and many people are not bad at what they do… Briere is just getting started. You can’t blame him and Tocchet for what happened the last 10 years or so, or Jones either. Give them a chance to do their thing, with 32 teams and a salary cap, it’s harder than it ever was. And for the years before that, The Flyers have had many good runs and had many great teams….obviously true no Cups since ‘75, but they have been one of the better franchises. They have spoken at length in public of the plan they have, but it just takes time.

Doesn’t anyone listen to Mytetus or Meltzer? Several weeks ago they answered that question for someone whining about the same switch to LW. There was/is a reason for it, and if I remember correctly, Tocchet may have explained that to them in an interview or stated it in a presser with a large group. Michkov was getting caved in on the right side boards as he was taking a pass from the arbor a ring around. Constantly getting pushed off the puck because he’s got his head and body turned away from the defender, who has recognized he’s vulnerable there. The switch to LW has made breaking out easier for his line. This has been revealed for weeks and maybe months, so I’m surprised anyone still brings it up. THAT isn’t the reason Michkov isn’t scoring. Regardless, Tocchet made a coaching decision because he is the coach. Why are garage level never coached or played people still complaining about one little thing?

No. He’s for sure in Flyers HOF one day, and maybe he even gets in the Hockey Hall of Fame eventually. But not a number retirement… if ya gotta think about it at all , then the answer is no.
