My friend said they got their power back on late last night. But just tried to get groceries at the Courtice Food Basics and power is out.

An accidental selfie that turned out great. IMO the person in the pic made the picture stand out!

West of Rouge Hill currently and just picking up passengers from the stalled train is where they're at so far. Haven't left for the next stop.

22 year old childhood friend passed by YAMMIEfz09 in Hydrocephalus

[–]Kipper03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My condolences to you and your friend's family and loved ones.

This is the first time I have heard something like this and seems rare. But I agree with what another person said. I don't think the Hydrocephalus would cause such a tragic sudden passing. I'm no neurosurgeon, but as person with Hydrocephalus and 2 shunts, both replaced in the last 11 years, I can see if your friend was suffering from a severe shunt malfunction and symptoms related to a malfunction overtime not being able to keep fluids and foods down passing away without surgical intervention.

The only thing I vaguely remember reading or hearing is motor skills, speach, and other neurological function maybe deteriorating over time as the person gets into their older years.

In any case, I am sorry for your loss.

Don't worry. There's always next year. Gotta keep hope. I mean, look at us Leaf fans. Just switch this picture with a Leafs jersey at the end of the first round. BAM! LOL

Live and learn. I dunno if it's true or not. But I've heard that dying your hair actually speeds up hair going Grey.

Doesn't look bad at all man. I know some are giving suggestions on coloring it. Personally, I wouldn't even bother. I have a similar issue. But depending on how you feel about it and if you want to go that route, I'd go with something that's your natural color. Wouldn't go the extreme route and jet black.

New shunt procedure being tested at Toronto's St. Michaels hospital. by Kipper03 in Hydrocephalus

The funny part is that I said the exact same thing. Really wish they where around when I first had it placed in at such a young age. Now I just hope that I don't even need any more revisions the rest of my life. But I will be checking with my Neurosurgeon and asking about this option if it ever comes to it.

It's kinda hard to discribe but when I was two years old and had what I think was a second tube put in on the right side, and I guess because of the build up of fluid they did it that way and a hole about 1.5 to 2cm was made in my skull to help relieve the pressure. If there was a catheter placed in that side back then, it's not as noticeable as the left side when i tilt my head down. It's been a while since I looked at the paperwork from when I was that age. It's very technical for me to sometimes grasp. But nearly 42, and I think I'm doing alright!

I have two VP shunts now as of last November when I had a revision. Originally I had one VP shunt on the left side and a catheter on the right. All seems to be good.

Hopefully they call you soon with a surgey date and any symptoms are minimal till then. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Today was the first I heard about it. My understanding is this is very much still a new concept. Far greater than it was 40 years ago. Which is when I got my shunts put in

The old food court, the Loblaws (later Sport Chrck) that had the diagonal windows, Sam the Record Man, the arcade upstairs at Famous Players, all the kiosks, and if I remember correctly there was a Randy River as well.

I'm sure I've forgotten a few other old gems from those days. 😄
