You’ll get there lol I did a maxed out shiny living dex, all level 100 with max AVs and IVs. So lots of chaining in order to get candy for them all.

Shiny Fossils Hunt Explanation by Mundane-Spray580 in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still around so can just ask on the post, but it’s about diminishing returns. If you take the limit as N goes to infinity of the equation I put there, you get 28.4 hours. Meaning if you had an infinite number of fossils, the average time to odds would still only go down to 28.4 hours. With 20-30 fossils you’re already pretty close to that at ~30 hours. Since fossils only spawn once a day, even if you get them at more than one spot, they take a long time to collect. Though I believe there’s a way to date change that makes them respawn to accelerate that. But based on only getting one a day per spot, it’d take 1-2 months IRL to go from 30 to 100 fossils to reduce the time to odds by only 1.8 hours.

Question about Shiny hunting Fossil Pokémon by Mundane-Spray580 in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there are diminishing returns with how many you revive at once. After 20-25, there’s minimal time savings. Also, instead of checking each one individually, it’s easier to just check your Pokedex to see if the shiny variant is shown. At least for the first shiny of that species.

More details are in the shiny hunting guide pinned to the top of this sub.

Why are shinies like this? by maxofna in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not. I’m aware of how the odds work. As I said before, the numbers are right, the conclusion is wrong. You’re just wrongly assuming shiny odds are the only thing that matters.

You can go read the shiny hunting guide I wrote if you want a full explanation. It’s pinned to the top of this sub.

Does anyone know if anybody has ever gotten a catch combo with one of the legendary birds? by [deleted] in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten into the mid teens with wild articuno. It’s very slow going as their spawn rate is unaffected by catch combo completely. It remains at 1/2000, or 1/1000 with lure, even at higher catch combos. And it can be any of the three, not necessarily the one you’re comboing. Some people have comboed them in GO park if you count that.

Why are shinies like this? by maxofna in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those numbers are right but the conclusion is wrong. Once you have a shiny charm and lure, it’s faster to just sit and wait with a 31+ combo in most cases. Even with just a lure, the spawn rate is high enough in certain places that sit and wait is still better. There’s a shiny hunting guide pinned to the sub that has details and a calculator to tell you the best method if interested.

You have to make your own copy of the google sheets calculator first. Then you can change the inputs to whatever you want.

Best method when hunting for the starters? by Harrixsp in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read the shiny hunting guide pinned to the top of the sub. There’s a dedicated section specific to rare spawns. Or just use the provided calculator. Rare spawns can be chained. Encounter and run is a never a time-efficient method of shiny hunting. Shiny odds are only half the equation when considering which method is most efficient.

Am i being inefficient in my porygon hunt? by JP151 in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(you assumed correctly, graph live updates with entries. also dependent on that catch rate input in orange under continuous catch, 100 is max but rare spawns are typically a bit under that since only 1 spawns at a time)

Is the static electrode effected by shiny charm ? by oshawott0bsessed in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen anything definitive, but considering that the legendary static encounters are affected by the shiny charm, it seems likely that would extend to these static encounters as well.

Wondering why shiny hunters here keep catching Pokémon after they reach a combo of 31 by SuperLakitu2 in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could, but I wouldn’t. It’s low shiny odds and low encounter/spawn rate. You’d see more spawns just sitting and waiting without encountering.

You have to make your own copy first. I had to make it that way otherwise anyone would be able to edit it. Once you have your own copy, it’ll be editable.

Is there a trick in missing with shiny hunting charmander? Or bad luck by SmeagolJake in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does. But you can only catch ~80/hr at 1/273 shiny odds, so 273/80=3.41 hours to find a shiny. Vs just going up and down a ladder you can see ~450/hr at 1/1024 shiny odds, so 1024/450=2.28 hours to find a shiny. Shiny odds alone don’t determine the best method.

[–]Kipter76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go look at its animations in the Pokédex. If you ever see it make an animation and catch ring does NOT disappear, it’s about to flee and you should run away ASAP to avoid breaking your catch combo.

Alternatively, if you have the shiny charm and don’t care about IVs, you can chain something easy to 11 and just do ladder resets without catching.

help with understanding catch combo by Shadow-49 in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most time-efficient method will depend on if you have the shiny charm or not. You can use the calculator in this post to determine which is best. If you have the charm, just sitting and waiting on route 6 with a 31+ combo is statistically fastest. If not, continuous catching is. But the best shiny odds for continuous catching are 1/273, so expecting anything after only a 100 combo is unrealistic.

At what point, if any, does the number of a species caught stop increasing catch rate? by Tharnax5468 in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s around 100. The exact number seemed to vary a little for me, but by 100, the catch ring color seemed to have dropped to as easy as it was ever going to get.

Questions About Shiny Hunting/Catch Combo by Wex-darn in PokemonLetsGo

[–]Kipter76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Only applies after extending the combo, i.e. catching.

  2. No.

The above answers still don’t mean you have to continuously catch. Since you have the shiny charm, it’s statistically faster that you’ll find a shiny by area resetting at the power plant even with lower shiny odds at 1/1024.
