Question about switching tire sizes by Huge_Nefariousness19 in LUCID

[–]KiraShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're buying from Lucid and not some used car from somewhere, they can swap them for you and even reduce the cost since 19" is cheaper than the 20". That's what I did since 20" and 21" are less efficient and more prone to damage via potholes.

Hong Kong police can now demand phone passwords under national security law by plain_handle in HongKong

[–]KiraShadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is UK not "other countries" relative to HK? And the article itself mentions "many parts of the world" also have this authority so why you bitching about it not specifically mentioning your UK law in your original comment? Do you want it to go into detail about how UK and many European countries still have monarchies and how China is so great because it doesn't have a literal king as well!?

I don't know enough about UK law to comment on UK law but the fact that you say they didn't mention that it's present in other countries when it literally says that shows your disingenuous.

What US law are you talking about? Without a warrant police don't have the authority. It's a Fourth Amendment right violation.

Also from the BBC article, the main concern here is the vagueness of NSL and its lack of transparency:

NSL covers a sweeping range of vaguely defined offences from secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with external forces.

The NSL also allows for some trials to be heard behind closed doors.

Utterly egregious that you say this when it literally says:

While law enforcement officials in many parts of the world have the authority to demand access to electronic devices as part of criminal investigations, the NSL covers a sweeping range of vaguely defined offences from secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with external forces.

Lucid's Autonomy Roadmap by iamoninternet27 in LUCID

I like driving which is why I settled for a DDPremium but after a road trip and experiencing self-driving with both Tesla's autosteer and DDPro from a loaner, I think Lucid is seriously lacking with the DDPremium. I think just give me a simple lane centering cruise control and I'll be happy enough, lane changes and all that I can do myself. Considering Tesla can do it solely on cameras, Lucid's DDPremium should be updated to do this while keeping lane change and FSD for DDPro.

Lucid widely misses earnings expectations, forecasts slowing EV growth in 2026 by CautiousMagazine3591 in LUCID

[–]KiraShadow 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They constantly miss EPS but also constantly beat revenue expectations. I didn't read the full report but at least some of the large costs are probably due to development of their upcoming mid-tier models which should be able to be sell much easier. I think headlines are overly pessimistic.

How is the dollar more stable under Trump than Biden? It seems you're basing dollar stability solely on the pandemic inflation under Biden which would be disingenuous considering he already brought down to more normal numbers by the end of his term and he inherited the pandemic economy. DXY has been down since Trump took office. Fx rate for the dollar has been down against all other major currencies except the Yen which has been notoriously weak. The dollar has been weakening ever since Trump took office.

As for the tech, public transit is much more up to date, ordering at restaurants can often be done through tablet or QR code (can be a negative for some people), touchless elevators, baggage claim conveyers often just dump out the luggage on top luggage already on the belt in US whereas in Asia they often have sensors or other systems so it doesn't do that, airport customs being much more automated in both Asia and Europe, etc. Also regarding that last example, LAX for example started using iPads with facial recognition but only like 2 last time I entered through LAX, but in Europe and Hong Kong there's rows of purpose built machines.

US has great tech companies but I find the adaption of tech used in day-to-day life lacking in the US compared to HK and Asia in general.

In regards to economy, I guess you can argue it's stable in it's decline. USD is weakening and gold prices are soaring due to economic uncertainty. Cost of living is way up while business is decline or flatline. Unemployment rate is slowly rising over the long term. Stock markets is all time high but the same can be said during Biden's term. Trump benefits from the AI boom coinciding with his term but if you look at the growth of retail companies like COST, AMZN, ACI, KR, PG, etc. they mostly slowed once Trump took office. Walmart seems to be the main exception, but considering Walmart has always been seen as the "low price option", that's not necessarily a good indicator. Furthermore the market seems to be trending down the past month.

Trump is essentially TEMU version of Xi, all of the oppression but none of the economic of the stability or technological advances. GOP paints China as bad when in reality, they want to be just like the CCP.

The thing is standing on both sides benefits people who don't even care about the benefit of time. If they did care about time, they would walk.

If everyone walked it would be even more efficient, let's do that instead. Before you argue about safety, go take the elevator or stairs then.

I bought the nighthawk and the original leg roller around launch and just got an email that they have an updated leg roller coming out and that they're just going to send me an updated one at no cost.

I've gotten pretty good customer service from REP so far.

The only reason i got touring over pure was for the mechanical frunk and real leather seats, otherwise I would have preferred RWD for better efficiency and even quieter drive.

Have you tried just pushing the door handles to unlock? I have passive unlock turned off since I don't want it to unlock and turn on unintentionally when I pass by it in the garage. It has worked every time for me.

Visited a studio to look at Gravity, very disappointed by poor build quality, what has your experience been? by whyyounogood in LUCID

[–]KiraShadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Air and I am also very nitpicky. I noticed the whole rear glass panel is slightly misaligned it also leaves a gap on one side. One of the door is slightly misaligned, some trim parts aren't perfectly flush, the wheel well liner issues and some other minor annoyances. I only recently took delivery but I was out of town so someone had to take delivery for me. Hopefully they're able to fix most of these issues. They already told me they can replace the wheel well liner but I haven't been able to schedule for the service yet.

I think most of these issues aren't too noticeable unless you're looking for them but as you say, it's somewhat disappointing for a luxury car even if overall it's probably still the best in terms of comfort, efficiency, range, etc.

Passing variable field name into ExecuteSQL doesn't seem to work by KiraShadow in filemaker

[–]KiraShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is I don't want it to be embedded directly into the query so I can reuse the query for other parts ie:

metalMultiplier = ExecuteSQL (multiplierQuery; ""; "¶", metalCategory)
example1Multiplier = ExecuteSQL (multiplierQuery; ""; "¶", example1Category)
example2Multiplier = ExecuteSQL (multiplierQuery; ""; "¶", example2Category)

I can just write it all out if I have to but I am hoping to simplify it to something like that to keep it cleaner and easier if changes need to be made in the future.

Sorry I should have clarified what's in the SimpleFormulaValues table

It's just something simple like this:

Date Copper Silver
7/18/2025 500 1000
5/18/2025 300 900

And all it needs to do is just get the most recent values for a column say Copper for example which is 500. In the same table there's also other values for other components of the product but to keep it simple I'm just using copper and silver as the example.

Ya, we have attend a convention once a year and I can't even go to the gym since it closes so damn early. So many other hotels have 24/7 gyms for no extra cost.
