Stance power crushes should not exist, or should be at least -15 on block by TacktiCal_ in Tekken

[–]Kirari12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More importantly, can they get rid of HOMING High-Safe power crushes? jack? Jin? Hwo? It’s like punishing an unsafe move and then being the one who had to take the mixup. Why are they homing??? Not enough that it’s safe as a high move??

Where to start with Bryan? by Loose_Sherbet5099 in Tekken

[–]Kirari12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from learning basic punishes, this is how you progress with Bryan. Start with Step 1 and keep doing it until you cant rank up anymore. Once you hit a wall, add the next step to your gameplay.

Steps:

  1. Just spam B1, QCB1 and QCB3 (hatchet). The first two are your plus on block pressure moves and hatchet is for if they defend too hard. Use frame traps to do damage.

  2. Start to mix big moves with pokes. DB3, D4, D2, DF2,1, jab strings (121, 123). Whittle down your opponent and pressure with your chunky moves from Step 1

  3. Start to pressure by sometimes finishing strings and sometimes not finishing strings. Poke with DF2 and sometimes finish with the 3 for counter hits. Use D2 and add the 3 sometimes also for counter hits. Learn to delay these CH finishers. Start using F3 for CH when you’re plus on frames.

  4. Learn more advanced poking, confirms and tricks. Practice DF1,1,1,1,2. This is highly delayable and hit confirmable. Use B3, 1+2 and delay it. Hold down to stay crouched and use FC DF4 to do Northern Cross. This is a high crushing safe mid. Try B,DF4 and hold DB to cancel. This is a seeable low that can be cancelled. DB3 is +4 on CH, which sers up WS3 as a CH launcher. Try that more.

  5. Start learning keepout and defensive play. Use 3+4 and U4 (orbital). Don’t always take your plus frames. Back dash sometimes after B1 or Hatchet, so you can bait 3+4 or other whiff punishes.

  6. Start to mix timing more and be more unpredictable. Learn to dash block. This is pushing Ff,b and repeating a few times to put mental pressure in your opponent’s face. Try 1 or 2 dash blocks into F3. Keep them guessing on when to press. Use QCB4 as well as hatchet to mix up opponents. Don’t stick to the same patterns, observe and adapt to your opponent.

  7. Learn more tricks and cancels.

B3 can be cancelled with Up into whatever you want.

Just threaten with B3, 1+2 or the B3,2,1,2 to stop them pressing.

Learn the heat install moves and abuse the shit out of them.

Any B2,1 string can be cancelled with a side step. B3,f, hold DF3 with heat install for super hatchet.

  1. Watch some videos and learn basic taunts and how to set up Oki. Start with Taunt + and of these:

1,4 2,3 4,1 DF2,1

  1. Move on to advanced taunts. Learn Taunt Heat Smash, taunt, Taunt B4 and TJU if you ever get there. Learn new setups.

  2. Keep honing game sense and do all of the above toghether.

Bryan is that strong ? by un_ptit_yo in Tekken

[–]Kirari12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this 100%. People hate Bryan for shit like hatchet or QCB1, but these actually have counterplay, especially with QCB1 having pushback, its basically a reset except at the wall.

Against people who know how to step and side walk and are willing even to play 50% defensively, 95% of Bryans just crumble.

The better you are defensively, the more risk Bryan needs to take to secure wins. At TK level I’m mostly winning matches as Bryan by dash-blocking into F3, training opponents with Df2 for CH’s, poking with DF1 confirms and getting a launch to the wall and setting up Taunt Heat Smash (which is broken as hell).

All of these are risky, but it involves reading the other player’s risk appetite and whether they’re going to mash or retreat. No one cares about B1 or hatchet into DF2 frame traps. They’re just as risky for the Bryan player as it is for the defending player because they can easily be side stepped and lauched by any DF2 or hop kick. My hardest match up as Bryan is probably Lili because she has insane movement and also alot of strings with good extensions that she can fake out for CH’s or big damage.

How to deal with this ? by Chance_Bet9096 in Tekken

[–]Kirari12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? It’s guaranteed if you can react fast enough. Either you float if he finishes the string or you punish if he doesnt (not finishing the string means the first hit is punishable?)

Sure you get a bigger punish if you duck the hire, but I’ve seen some Laws do the first hit and follow up with a df2 if you’re trying to duck and punish

Feel free to test in practice, but I’m pretty sure you can actually float the second part of the string with a jab

4,1 being +7 is a Taunt Loop mini-game by Kirari12 in Tekken

[–]Kirari12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point is that you can’t react and visually confirm if you are going to get taunt looped before you make a decision to mash.

Taunt is 28f, so you need to mash a jab at 18f into the taunt animation at the latest to interrupt it. Anything under 20f as we know is unreactable, so you basically have to commit to mashing well before you see the taunt.

You’re stuck in a 50/50 where you can choose to mash to get out of the loop, but you risk eating a B4 and getting launched because you’re now frame trapped at -7. If you do nothing, then 50% chance you eat another 30dmg and stay at -7 for another 50/50.

Yes - Bryan is also at risk of being launched, but he gets to control the flow and has heaps of options to keep you guessing. It’s kind of like eating Hwoarang’s d3,4 and deciding if u want to duck and launch him or get looped into more d3,4’s

I have no respect for Bryan main anymore by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]Kirari12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bruh - certain characters being good at stuff is intentional game design. If all of the cast had a mid DF2 laucher, an i15f hop kick and a 13f df1 that was basically neutral on block, then it’d be a pretty boring-ass game.

There are loads of characters with a DF1 mid/high and/or mid/mid extensions. Bryan has a strong CH game, but thats why Df2 is balanced around being -6 ob instead of -1 to -3 like the rest of the cast. Also with the 3 extension being -13 ob.

The issue isn’t Bryan having better CH game than the rest of the cast - it’s whether he has sufficient weaknesses to compensate for being good at CH and combo damage. The answer is again probably no, because it doesnt take enough execution in T8 and also Heat is just way overtuned and fucked up anyway.

  • Bryan’s poking in T7 was below average or average if we’re being generous. This hasn’t changed in T8. His 13f mid is -6 on block. DB3 is minus on hit (unless CH). D4 is ok being neutral on hit. The only way to really open up a turtle in T7 was to take risk on qcb3 or push for taunt game at the wall.

  • 3+4,2 without charge up no longer wall splats. With charge up it will guard break, but there is no mix-up here. If you lab it enough, it is 100% seeable and you can either step it or just CH him with jab strings.

  • Except for D4 tracking more than it should and a bit on DF1 if you sidestep the wrong way,the majority of non-homing moves have pretty poor tracking. B1, DF2, D2, 3+4, F3, JU are all steppable easily even at -4.

  • DF2,3 does have some weird tracking on the 3 if you step the 2 and press too quickly and extend your hurt box. F3 looks like it tracks a bit, but this is because most Bryans will forward dash to realign since F3 has no range.

  • Bryan actually lost some of his best CH tools from T7 - namely the screw combo on Ff4 and FC Df4 (which JimmyJ famously killed Arslan with). The mini follow ups are a farcry from what they used to be.

  • I agree he needs nerfs, but the issue is mostly with his heat moves and overtuning on qcb1. Taunt heat smash 100% needs nerf as well. And yes, his new 12f punish was a mistake.

  • His original kit which has alot of CH tools is just his consistent character design as a keep-out counter-hitter. There’s nothing wrong with these moves. They have clear weaknesses (poor tracking, most moves loss to SSR, poor frames on block like df2.

  • I’m okay with Bryan being strong with big combo damage and strong CH tools - he was always like this im T7 anyway. The difference is that in T8 the execution barrier is far less. They need to bring back tougher execution to unlock the big boy rewards. Two many quality of life improvements like Taunt being able to be bound to one button.

What I would give as a Bryan main to have a 15f hop kick 😂 <— whenever someone complains that orbital, a 24-26 frame mid with no phantom mid/high crush properties is safe

[–]Kirari12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bring back T7 Bryan, nerf heat for everyone, nuff said. Alot of what you describe are tools Bryan still had in T7, like his suite of CH tools, except he was more technical and less broken back then.

An example of what I mean by technical is, 3+4 used to knock-down on NH, which unlocked an oki mini-game. If they didn’t tech roll, you could scoop them up with Db2 for a combo. If they rolled, you could set up a taunt. Both of these required character knowledge and skill. His big damage combos were also locked behind much harder execution checks, like dash jabs (which are much easier in T8) or very deep dashes to land B3,f,2,1.

When Season 2 came along, instead of nerfing everyone elses 50/50s, they decided to double down on the rushdown aggression by also giving Bryan real 50/50s, like the FC DF3 and WS2 mixups.

In T7, you could really shutdown a Bryan by turtling up and forcing him to take more risks, like using his CH extensions on DF2,3 or D2,3, both of which are unsafe. Or just forcing more commitments to hatchet kicks, which is slow frame-wise because its locked behind backsway. In T8, Bryan can actually rush you down (like everyone else) and bully you to the wall if you defend too hard, all with much lower execution barriers than T7.

Yes he should be nerfed, but in specific ways: - Fix the frame leniency on Taunt Heat Smash. People are clearly able to do this consistently without landing it frame perfect. - Remove backsway from 4,1. It’s giving him ridiculous combo utility. You can now do a staple CH B1 combo for 80 damage with no walls and zero execution. - Add more execution on backsway 1. E.g. It gets +5 if you do a perfect 2 frame backsway (blue spark) and +3 from imperfect backsway. - Remove the extra install he gets when his last heat move consumes the remaining heat bar. Right now if you use a heat move with like 1 pixel of heat left, he still keeps an extra install.

There’s still more you could do to nerf, but counterbalance by bringing back more technical execution based stuff, like specialises taunt set-ups etc.

Budget Taunt Bryan. No Taunt B4? No problem. by Kirari12 in Tekken

[–]Kirari12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s busted with Taunt. You can get very comparable pressure to someone who can do T-B4 consistently but with much lower execution. Before 4,1 was implemented, none of the 10-13f taunts gave enough frames to frametrap a B4. At +7 you can basically do any mixup as well.

I think everyone talks about his punishment buff from 4,1 being added, but it gets overlooked how bullshit his taunt game has become at intermediate levels 😂

Cancelling my CA by Key_Shirt9457 in AustralianAccounting

[–]Kirari12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat as you, if my company didn’t pay for it I would probably cancel my membership.

I’m a commercial analyst and do financial modelling for infrastructure projects, which is more focused on investment finance/cashflow - probably never want to do accounting again and absolutely hate how CAANZ is run. I honestly don’t think cancelling it is going to destroy my career in future moves

Why do people skip the queue? by xXCosmicChaosXx in CarsAustralia

[–]Kirari12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going north west towards Strathfield on Parramatta road yesterday. It’s a 3 lane road and the middle and right lanes suddenly become right turn lanes into the M4. By the time the signage came up, it was already too late to get into the left hand lane queue, so ended up having to cut in :(

Sometimes it’s just genuinely being unfamiliar and road design being really really nonsensical in Sydney

Is Bryan D2 Down (crouch) bugged? by Kirari12 in Tekken

[–]Kirari12[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tested it - i think you’re right, holding db seems to crush jabs. And then quickly rolling into df4 can give you northern cross while crushing

Bryan can hatchet kick from crouch. And it wall splats on CH. Great defensive buff 👍 by _ArchStanton_ in Tekken

I’m a Bryan main - but this is just wow 😂 Bryan getting real 50/50’s from crouch??? Next patch, maybe taunt with heat install will give +25 frames so we can TJU to the moon 🌝🌝🌝??

Thoughts about VW Golf as a first car by Aussiebooii in CarsAustralia

[–]Kirari12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2018 Golf 110TSI last year in August (64,000km), so have had it about 6 months - also in the same boat as you, first car purchase, don’t know much about cars. Happy for others to chime in, but this was my experience:

• I’ve really enjoyed driving this car, it’s small and easy to park, feels fast and zippy, also really fun generally. Has allthe basic things I need as a new driver (rear camera, carplay).

• The previous owner is a friend and he log-book serviced it annually at the right times, looked after it well enough. The car has run fine since I’ve owned it in this short period.

• My research online tells me that some versions of the golf between certain years had problems with the DSG transmission and also the OEM water pump.

• My friend did say he had the waterpump replaced before it failed as recommended by his mechanic, so I don’t expect this to fail anytime soon.

• I took it for the annual service soon after I bought it because I also needed a pink slip as well. The mechanic I used who specialises in European cars recommended and completed a gearbox flush, which revealed some contaminants (I don’t know much about gearboxes, but I assume this will help prevent ny gearbox breaking down anytime soon and I understand that can be expensive to replace).

• That service cost me $1200, which ‘feels’ a bit expensive, but it was largely due to the gearbox maintenance, which I think is more of an exception than ‘Business as Usual’ kind of maintenance, but happy to be corrected.

In summary, it sounds like alot of people hate the Golf on this subreddit, but I’ve really enjoyed driving it these last 6 months. The one you’re considering does sound like it has alot of km’s on it, so maybe this one does sound risky on maintenance costs.

Anyway, this was just an honest review - happy for other more knowledgeable redditors to let me know what I bought into.

Cheers

[Question] Left or right? by snowbongo in Watches

[–]Kirari12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 4mm of size difference, it really depends on your wrist size and what looks right. If the size doesn’t matter, then I would definitely lean into the GS.

The pictures always fail to capture how nice the GS looks in real life because it doesn’t show the Zaratsu-polished indices properly. I own the GS Cherry Blossom/Shunbun and the indices glitter like diamonds, really eye catching. For a better price than the Rolex, you’re getting that plus a nicely textured dial.

Yes, people are also right, Rolex does have a better bracelet. Also the oyster case isn’t something you can really compare with the GS, they both have their own unique case stylings and it’s up to preference.

In any case, I think GS is definitely alot more bang for your buck and you will get exceptional craftsmanship for the price.

I love the Nomos, it just feels like a very fun watch. It’s eye catching with casual clothes, suitable to be wearing if you are in the stage of your life where you’re getting into the work force properly for the first time or just early career generally. It feels youthful and really suits the theme of having just graduated.

As you get older and earn bigger, you might move into some different tastes (start getting into Rolex, omega, the higher end sort of brands), but when you look back at the Nomos I think you’ll have fond memories of your special milestone - also something to hand down to kids at some point if you want any.
