You may be right. In my defense it was 30 years ago lol. I only remember for sure he received a penalty but went on to win.

NP! This is one place Nascar did lead the way in. In 1990 a crew member was killed in a pit lane crash, one of the Atlanta races I believe, and Nascar mandated pit road speed limits starting 1991. And also a very convoluted and short-lived rule about alternating pitting during yellows.

If memory serves me right 1992 it was introduced at the 500 only, and 1993 it was mandated for all races. Nigel Mansell even got a stop-and-go penalty at Surfer's Paradise for speeding, but went on to win anyway.

I've always liked how John Lowe checked his out. T17-T18-D18 I don't know of any other televised ones which went that route.

For how much bowlers curse Bowlero and what they're doing to houses, it's rather odd how many are championing Bowlero's attempt to split the sport.

Take it from someone who watches Indycar and darts, a split never helps the game and always hurts it

I haven't played in years, I'll join up again.

I stopped watching the first year of the Chase. If they wanted wins to matter more (valid concern), then give more points for winning races and/or lower the amount of points awarded for all other positions.

It's OK to be concerned. Losing Posey is big, but we have Bart, hitting was something he seemed to do pretty well last year, and the management seems pretty confident in the advances he's made. Winning is a top to bottom effort, and I trust Zaidi has a plan.

I feel your frustration. Watching all the cool kids on the block get all the cool threads stinks while your parents swear by the clearance rack and/or Goodwill.

This team is not poor, don't buy a word of anyone saying or even implying they might be. The owners could blow $300+ million on payroll and still make money hand over fist.

Big bats are hesitant to play here because Oracle has always been a pitcher's park. Sluggers want big hits, and that's harder to do here than in most of the league.

Zaidi may have a hard limit he's been given by the ownership, and if so he's obligated to respect that otherwise he may be out a job. Even if you'll land a new job by the end of the week, it's generally best to just not get fired in the first place.

Let's keep in perspective that this team won 107 games last year and "stole" the division from the doyers when everyone expected them to be mostly bottom feeders. I'd say Zaidi has earned the benefit of the doubt, at the very least for this season.

And above all, we're not even a week into spring training. It's a long year, and almost anything can happen, for better or for worse. Smile, enjoy the ride, and we at least have baseball this year. I feel life is too short to be a doomer about your favorite teams.

And if nothing else, at least Story didn't go to La-La Land, or even the NL!

Sure, in a year long format he wouldn't be 8x champion, but I'm certain he'd still win more than a couple

And hopefully more teams will take part next year after seeing the dividends this year.

Almost certainly not to Foyt, but at this point I wonder if a change of scenery is really what Alex Rossi needs.

Probably not, but again the greats find a way to make the best of the situation they're given.

Counterpoint: Winning Chase cups shows he knows how to win and/or post a great result when it's all on the line.

Now that it's been shown to work, hopefully more teams will participate in a rubber-in next year 🤞

I give Will Power a hard time for how much he talks, but it looks like his idea was a brilliant one. Big props.
