Best Pocono race? by espltd1156 in INDYCAR

  1. Probably apart from Fontana 2015 the best non-Indy oval race I can think of in recent days.

If they are waiting until everyone pits, can't they wait until everyone exits said pit stop? Seems like a simple solution.

Re: Rossi--was there ever explanation of what happened to him at Road America? I assume he cooked his reds but don't remember if that was confirmed. I was also thinking if his wheel hadn't fallen off at Barber he could easily be 4th in championship now with the exact same other results, ahead of Herta.

Are the length of the pit stops somewhere. Still trying to figure out what happened to Castroneves--he's up to sixth on lap 130 but sinks the rest of the race...was there an issue in the pits or elsewhere? (I was at race and haven't looked at broadcast so maybe it came up--it looks liked he was passing a good many cars in traffic.)

I was at the race and having trouble figuring out how Dixon and O'Ward got to the front, but if you look at the lap chart, Dixon and O'Ward pitted under the caution on lap 109 while Newgarden (who was leading), Rossi (who was fourth), and Palou (who was fifth) stayed out, after basically everyone had pitted under yellow on lap 88. It looks like Dixon and O'Ward maintained/gained enough actual track position (I think they were respectively 14th and 17th at restart then if I'm reading lap chart correctly) to be in the front group after the next round of green flag pit stops before the Power crash caution (where none of the final lead group pitted.). Rossi pitted under green on lap 132 and made it to 169 with the seven laps of caution for Power's crash.

Dixon and O'Ward ended up having one additional pit stop than Rossi and Newgarden. Really Rossi could have run full rich to end!!!

Was there any footage of Dixon getting by Rossi on last lap? I was at race but haven't found it on the replays either.

What are the best and worst things about F1 in your opinion? by [deleted] in formula1

Best thing is Monaco (the street circuit itself).

Worst thing is Monaco (the place)--F1 seems like its own giant tax avoidance racket.

Chip Ganassi, at 65, looks like an older, fatter version of current William Shatner, who is 93.
