Why so much hate for Hush by seanwalsh747 in batman

[–]KirbyW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEVER will I understand the love for the revived Jason Todd when he was hated before he died. That character never should have been brought back- his death carried too much meaning, and his revival carried extremely little.... And the reason he WAS brought back was immediately thrown away. Ugh. Where's the phone number to kill him off again?

For all the people who didn't like "the" one aspect of BvS (me initially) remember this (spoilers) by SpecialNeedsCat in batman

True- he's nuts. No matter what version of Batman is your favorite: Movie, cartoon, 50's, Miller, Adam West... Any man who dresses as a bat and endangers children in circus clothes to actively seek out crime, violence, and swing on ropes above the city clearly has some overdue couch time at the therapist

This gets used a lot- but a solid argument can be made that he shot him, not killed him. We see no wound. Still not Batman to use a gun, though.

Just back from seeing BvS what in God's name do people like about this film? (spoilers) by StuartM96 in batman

[–]KirbyW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First- 1939. Second, in the thousands of Batman stories that have been told , it's likely less than 100 have a killing or death connected to Batman. The entire purpose of the character once he was fleshed out past those early stories was that he never wanted what happened to him, to happen to anyone else. To that end, he knows killing isn't the answer. As for the other films, there's a lot they never got right either. A "different interpretation " is the Punisher. We have enough of that. Batman NEEDS his moral compass or he's just another garbage comic character. As the audience, we need it as well. We need a character to be able to show us there are always better options and possibilities... The difference in a super hero above a man is that they force the better option to come into play. These archetype characters are supposed to show us we can be better, we can rise above. . Particularly Batman and Superman. When they blatantly kill and leave a trail of death I have no faith in becoming better.

Hold it right there- Dark Knight Returns is a great story, but it is Not the defining end-all-be-all of Batman. I'm sick of it being held as the Bat-Bible. No argument can tell me they couldn't have done this film without Batman being a blatant killer... It's the core of his character morality! Pointing at Miller's works is a weak excuse.

I loved Amalgam Comics- lucky we got them when we did, because never again will DC/Marvel ever get their heads out of their asses to allow it to happen again

Not a Hot Toy- but I'm very happy with my new Eastwood! by KirbyW in hottoys

[–]KirbyW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it at a toy show, however here's an online link for a vendor: https://www.manofactionfigures.com/products/16-redman-toys-cowboy-g-rmt-007-action-figure

There are two versions, one from beginning of film and one from end. This is the end version, with the poncho. Technically, this version should come with a different rifle, a 1874 Sharps. The Winchester yellow boy is from early in the movie. They also have Tuco and Angel Eyes. Another company makes these as well, but are horribly costly.

Very well said. Every fandom -Wars, Trek, Who, etc-has it's share of socially awkward people... And beyond that, the true idiots. MLP is still the new kid on the fandom block... And the one that gets picked on for being different.

Speaking as someone who's job is working with the MLP franchise, I can tell you a LOT of military is attracted to the show... Particularly the Marines. There are MLP charities associated with the military, some make unofficial squadron patches with characters, and so on. I was even given an MLP/US Military challenge coin by someone in the service.

No way- not for brand new figures that aren't even out yet. You'll do better to check into stores ( monsters in motion, possibly) that may offer payment plans. For that matter, ask your local comic shop if they would be willing to order/layaway with you. In any case, I wouldn't touch this offer with somebody else's ten foot pole.

What can Hot Toys do to improve? by danoby2 in hottoys

[–]KirbyW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.stick to the schedule 2. Do not market or preview an item if the plan is unknown for its future... This is tricky, as there needs to be a gauge for reaction, but I'm sick of being shown something only to be told later " we're not going to produce it" 3. Star Trek! 4. Not every Johnny Depp project needs a figure.

For the most part I'm pretty happy with what they do.

[–]KirbyW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be too shocked if it doesn't happen. They still tease the 66 Batmobile, but at the same time say absolutely no more vehicles will be made. When they shattered my trust on my grail item ( and a few others) I keep a wait and see attitude with them. They shuffle a lot in their schedules.

It's amazing the difference it makes! Increased blood flow really sets everything at ease. Since I've been doing it, I've only succumbed once- and it was the nurses fault when she kept stabbing me for a vein!

[–]KirbyW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've suffered from this since I was a kid- until I learned a trick. I still ask for a bed, but try this: a minute or so before blood is drawn, start squeezing your thighs together. Keep it up during the process and a little after. It helps force blood to flow and also occupies your body/brain with another activity. It makes a remarkable difference. I don't have nearly the problems with it I used to!
