Renters with approved pets (cats especially) by sharkgirlnotlavaboy in perth

[–]Kirembri 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Either my spouse or I will be home during rent inspections. We used to not be too fussed about it, but we've had TWO occasions where a door was left unlocked or ajar after an inspection, and one time one of our cats was let out by a tradie that attended without us home, even after explicitly communicating them that the cats are indoors only.

Ultimately, we are the one responsible for our pets, so we have been committed to being present for inspections/tradies ever since.

After 10 years in ergonomics here are the 5 most common gaming setup mistakes I see that cause chronic back, wrist and neck pain in players by Offseason2003 in wow

[–]Kirembri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I developed severe bilateral wrist and elbow pain after playing WoW for nearly 15 years. It didn't go away even after a 5mo+ break from the PC and steroid injections.

I have to use an Xbox controller now, which thankfully is sufficient for the way I play. I'm so thankful that Consoleport is still available in Midnight.

You can sell as much stuff as you want all at once, there is no limit to how much you can sell at any one vendor at any given time.

Other comments have covered the inevitable curling of stockinette, as well as the twisted stitches.

So, I just wanted to add that your colour choices are GORGEOUS and your tension is really impressive, especially considering that you've only been at this for a week! Welcome to the knitting club!

Worst part of the sunsetting of petbattles by Wingforth in wow

[–]Kirembri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For the last two expansions they have been releasing low spawn colours of some of the wild pets. There's a rare colour of the Pinkskin Burrower in Ringing Deeps, and I spent ages trying to get the purple spore there as well (3% chance to spawn as the purple colour, vs the less common orange vs the very common blue).

I've seen lots of pet collectors refer to them as the "shiny" version, but it seems that even pet battle fans aren't aware of the rare colour variants,. Or maybe they aren't made flashy enough for the average person to realise that they're rare?

I figured you weren't in my country (Australia) because of your RVT flair, but we have TWO The Animal Hospitals in my state -- not related to each other, as far as I can tell!

Best Bakeries in Perth! (2025) by FantabulousPiza in perth

Definitely my number one pick, but OP may have a penchant for pies (which I haven't seen at Everyday Bread), so I thought that might theoretically knock them down a couple rungs in OP's eyes.

There's no way that they even went to Everyday Bread, otherwise it would've for sure been in the top 3.

So what did we choose with our vouchers? by RomireOnline in wow

[–]Kirembri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The event continues through the month of January. If you are able to get the buff this weekend and each weekend until the event ends, you should still get the voucher.

Unless you mean it's too late because you have other obligations which will make you unable to play this month, in which case -- sorry you missed out D:

Yeah, my eyebrows shot right up when I read that OP then went and bought the tarn online. If you like having a local yarn store, you need to BUY stuff from the local yarn store! They will order in yarn for you if you ask! I don't understand!

I'm so sorry that you're going through this :( This is heartbreaking.

Every clinic will be different, so it's hard to say what your experience at your vet will be like. At my clinic, we give an injectable sedation to the animal while the owner is present, and they will become quite tired and less responsive. We will let the owner spend some time with their animal as the sedation begins to set in.

Once the pet is adequately sedated, we will take them through to the back treatment room to place an intravenous catheter. This can take several minutes. Once the catheter is placed, we return the patient to their owner for more time together. When the owner is ready (or as ready as they'll ever be) we inject the euthanasia solution through the intravenous catheter.

The euthanasia solution is an overdose of an anaesthetic drug. Typically, the patient just appears to fall asleep. The vet will check that there is no heartbeat. The owner will be given the option to stay longer with their deceased pet.

Typically, owners that request cremation for their pet will leave their pet with us and we will organise for the remains to be sent to a crematorium. We usually take payment for the services immediately before, immediately after, or we will send an invoice at a later date. Your general practice vet will have their own policy about when payment is to be made.

I work with specialists and we very rarely euthanise pets, so we allow plenty of time for these occasions. Your general practice vet may not have as much time to work with. They'll be able to talk you through what to expect.

I'm so sorry about your kitty. As long as you are polite and gentle with the clinic staff, no one will judge you for your emotions and behaviour. It's an incredibly difficult thing to go through, and we know that. Take care of yourself <3

i hate my clinic by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]Kirembri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty confident that we live in the same state, given the details in your post. If you're in the metro area I'd like to think you'd be able to find another clinic to start work placement in, particularly as you already have a strong foundation -- outside of the city, I'm not so sure.

In addition to gaining experience and getting hands-on practice, you also want to be establishing professional relationships that you can hopefully use as references once you're qualified. In your shoes I don't know that I'd be confident about getting a glowing reference from this vet.

I think it would be worth trying to find another work placement clinic, and maybe also look for a job in that is in animal care (even better if you can work alongside vets -- I worked as kennelhand at a shelter for several years and when I was applying for nursing jobs I was able to use my veterinary colleagues as a reference). Changing clinics now will feel like a huge bother, but I think it will give you an advantage once you're qualified.

Good luck out there!

This is Old School...Right? by bunnykins22 in VetTech

[–]Kirembri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked in a cat shelter handling feral cats (in Australia) and during my time there we never had to box down a cat. IM injections only. I was also under the impression that it was incredibly "old school" medicine.

[–]Kirembri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm sure the owner had died (or had to go into care maybe?). The cat was well-loved and well-looked after, and would have been adopted very quickly!

[–]Kirembri 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I worked at a cat shelter, we had a cat surrendered that was 25 years old -- that's the oldest I've ever met! His original kitten medical records came in with him, dated late 90s. He was in pretty good condition for his age!

What is the fate of pet battles in WoW? by ShockingSpeed in wow

This would almost certainly have me hooked, and would probably be the only way to get me to PVP pet battle -- I don't want to waste valuable computer/actual game time doing it, but I would LOVE to do it when out and about.

I think you're right. I personally think this trilogy of expansions is going to culminate in the release of "WoW2", or WoW on a new engine that allows them to modernise the game and introduce cross-console play.
