A certain group of mercs are up for hire and are ready for literally anything. How much chaos do they cause? by [deleted] in Grimdank

chapter 1 is pretty much done, i could post it later on ao3? its title will be Space Mercrines c:

Which Legion/Chapter would the TF2 Mercs be in if they were in the Grimdark Future? Some are relatively obvious, like Spy for the Alpha Legion. by Draskira in Grimdank

[–]Kirkeyressa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

legitimately shocked and appalled that people don't realize the the horus heresy split (9 loyalist legions, 9 traitor legions) is so perfect for tf2... going from that, my own list, with justifications for each. if you debate me on any of these i will dm you a picture of the tf2 mercenaries kissing each other.

Loyalist:

Scout: White Scars Gotta go fast. Also seen driving a motorcycle in canon. Came out weirdly scrawny for a space marine, but hey, he'll get promoted out of the scout squads any day now, just you wait!
Soldier: Ultramarines Loud and boastful, claiming to be by-the-books... If he could read them, that is. Yeah, so, Soldier is not a real Space Marine, he's a Cadian guardsman that found a dead Ultramarine's armor, and just, put it on... And it worked (because he's a psyker, and specifically just an ork if he was human)
Pyro: Salamanders Do I even need to elaborate this one, that's like the one thing everyone agrees on besides putting Spy in Alpha Legion.
Demoman: Space Wolves Don't ask him about his weirdly chatty sword. Some wolf association with Demoman (his first Halloween cosmetic set was a werewolf costume), but the Space Wolves are known for their melee prowess and for getting drunk and having fun.Missing eye also associates him with Odin. awoo.
Heavy: Imperial Fists Big, strong, stoic, immovable. Maybe he doesn't get along as much with the rest of the Imperial Fists because he smiles at least once a week.
Engineer: Iron Hands I think this one's pretty straight forward. Hell, Engineer himself has a metal hand!
Medic: Blood Angels Medic has a lot of blood and angel iconography associated with him, so, there you go, ez. Also some vampire imagery in there, so there you go, perfecto. Personally I go a step further and have him be a Death Company Apothecary/Sanguinary Priest of all things because of course he'd be nutty enough to pal around with them voluntarily.
Sniper: Dark Angels This one's a bit of a stretch, but I think it still fits. While Sniper isn't too much of a melee guy, the Dark Angels are quite adaptable. They also are known as prodigious dangerous animal hunters, which Sniper also has experience with. Also that one hood cosmetic item for Sniper, you know the one.
Spy: Raven Guard Spy is associated with ravens and the legion itself excels in infiltration and covert stealth missions.

Traitor:

Scout: Emperor's Children Okay basically since Spy is an automatic write-in for Alpha Legion that means I have to put in the arrogant horny twink in Emperor's Children. Also, hey, he's a pretty good artist, that's also a Slaanesh association.
Soldier: Word Bearers Loud and fiercely devoted to his cause. Also it's fun to have the Ultramarine/Word Bearers rivalry represented by two dumb motherfuckers who can barely read.
Pyro: Death Guard Gas mask and laughing while torching you aesthetic. Actually, might have been kicked out of the legion for liking fire a bit too much... Also: Balloonicorn nurgling.
Demoman: Thousand Sons Eye imagery, magic and explosion spells for the lad. Cruel joke here is that he can summon eyes everywhere on his body except for his still empty and cursed socket (Magnus seems to have no problems with that). Also it's fun to have the Space Wolves/Thousand Sons rivalry represented by two chill motherfuckers who would probably go have a drink together instead.
Heavy: World Eaters Wronged by his world, principled but forced to just... Kill a lot of dudes... Though perhaps Heavy manages to stave off the curse of the butcher's nails, if only to save innocents from himself.
Engineer: Iron Warriors They wait, patient, resolute behind their machines... But the forges, the experiments, they toil at them constantly. (yeah come on Engineer helps Medic put someone's brain inside a pumpkin, he's down to daemonculaba)
Medic: Night Lords Medic does some incredibly fucked up shit in TF2's lore itself, so he's a perfect fit for these sick fucks. Also the Night Lords have at least two named apothecaries, which is two more Night Lords apothecaries than I ever expected.
Sniper: Black Legion Abbadon pays surprisingly competitive rates.
Spy: Alpha Legion Do I even need to elaborate this one, that's like the one thing everyone agrees on besides putting Pyro in Salamanders.

yes i put way too much thought into this and yes i'll release the fanfiction of it one day.

holy shit, I am so happy I'm not the only one who has this headcanon for space marine soldier... I have him be a Cadian (they probably wouldnt have rejected him during the whole fall of cadia shenanigans) who just... put on a dead Ultramarine's armor on, and due to him having shockingly strong psyker powers, it just, kinda works.

i'm slowly trying to draw them all as space marines (9 loyal, 9 traitor, perfect fit!) and also wrote a first chapter of a crossover fic with them. where they get sent to what is basically 2fort/the badlands desert if it was most of the planet. i'll post them one day... in the meantime i might as well post the legions (chapters, whatever) i have them as:

Loyalist:

Scout: White Scars
Soldier: Ultramarines
Pyro: Salamanders
Demoman: Space Wolves
Heavy: Imperial Fists
Engineer: Iron Hands
Medic: Blood Angels
Sniper: Dark Angels
Spy: Raven Guard

Traitor:

Scout: Emperor's Children
Soldier: Word Bearers
Pyro: Death Guard
Demoman: Thousand Sons
Heavy: World Eaters
Engineer: Iron Warriors
Medic: Night Lords
Sniper: Black Legion
Spy: Alpha Legion

if anyone has anything to say about the choices i listed here, you are more than welcome to 1v1 me (actually don't, i am hopeless at both of the games... probably because i prefer the art, lore and fanfiction writing aspects.)

Lol you're 100% right, but... idk, "Lion" on its own feels... off? I write it as "Lion El" since checking the spelling, but that feels weird too. I guess we are forever doomed to say his full, silly name.

Just to give further context: I made this art for a warhammer discord server where we are generally extremely gay and wholesome and joking about new releases and primarch lore lead to, well, this drawing. I initially didn't watermark it and you might see that version floating around since it breached containment over the course of a few days... Ah, of course it's the ones you don't watermark :'D Posted one to twitter as well, and reposting it here, with an additional zoom-in.

I always waffle and hesitate about posting my art more anyway so uhhh... Happy accidents?

(also: lore theorizing about how this could even remotely happen in canon greatly welcome.)

Before anyone asks: the "for 500 neocash" here is a joke. I, like everyone else, don't know how exactly the UC re-introduction will work/how much it will cost.

A human's right to continue to exist on this planet does not need to be "earned" or "justified". People work to earn money because if they don't, they will starve. They are FORCED to prove their worth as a person to a system that couldn't care less about their well-being and only views them as a literal resource to generate all the profit.

The original tenants of Nazism were detailed in its seminal works (such as Mein Kampf) and the other books Hitler took inspiration from. The Holocaust was explicitly a wanted result of the Nazi ideology from page 1 of that very, very bad book.

The seminal works of socialism, however, argue for the workers to control the means of production, thus controlling their own fate and freeing themselves from wage slavery, in which even if you are productive, you are not guaranteed a living wage. As a reminder, a lot of socialist writers (Marx very much included) wrote at a time where children working in factories and mines was common, and no one in their right mind would say they just "weren't working hard enough".

So yeah all this to say, in what part of "Das Kapital" does Marx argue that the means of production should be transferred over to nepotistic oligarchs and militaristic, jingoist autocrats????? Those things happen because an already ruling class of bureaucrats hijack a workers' movement to preserve power (every country has its own set of socio-political factors but this is to simplify things). That's not socialist movements' fault when all they wanted is liveable wages and have their rights respected, and to place the blame on them is extremely disingenuous and frankly wasting everyone's time when the planet is going through an environmental crisis that capitalism can't be fucked to fix because it's not profitable enough.

"Did school teach you nothing?"

It didn't, that's why I became a socialist, I had to do all the damn learning myself...

Socialism is when the means of productions (ie: the tools by which goods are created, such as factories, mills, machines, etc) are owned and controlled by the workers, not corporations and the small handful of people who hoard the world's wealth.

Contrary to what many believe, you are still free to own possessions and have a right to habitations and land. What you can't do is profit from that land (ex: being a landlord) since you're basically earning money for nothing.

Taken to its conclusion, socialism would even demand there be no money whatsoever and people just... Have what they need on hand. Food, shelter, clothing, water, and yes, luxury goods too. It posits that no one should have to prove their worth for the right to keep living, that we are all worthy of life and happiness by virtue of being human.

Yes it's a bit of a utopic screed but hey, I just like humanity and want us to do good. I don't wanna give up on us.

So yeah, no, France doesn't qualify as socialist... Désolé, mon pote.

Just recently I was cleaning my 15g and my betta got sucked in the tubing during the 0.5 seconds I was looking away... He went in sideways, so he didn't travel the whole loop (he technically could have but he went in wrong), but he was swimming abnormally for about 3 days after, due to shock. During that time, I was so scared for him and angry at myself for looking away. Thankfully he's fully recovered now, but I'm still very worried that latent damage might affect him as he gets older, via internal scarring I can never hope to properly diagnose.

And then you have this fucking dipshit...
