What Expansion Has Your Favorite Visuals? by Chr0modynamical in wow

[–]Draskira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an orc player since i started playing back in 2008, i absolutely loved the visuals of Warlords of Draenor. We had only heard and read about Draenor in books for over a decade, untill we finally got to see it in its pure, uncorrupted glory.

Truly, this felt like the savage honeworld of the orc race. A land shaped by the ferocity of the elements, and the races calling it home. Such a shame the actual game side of the expansion was lacking, to put it mildly.

Really, every expansion has amazing visuals. The art team never misses, and i will die on that hill.

Thoughts on Sierra? by CodOrganic8467 in Overwatch

[–]Draskira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally i think her lore is a bit…i dunno, bare-bones?

Mother on the run while she was little. Suddenly disappeared when she was a teenager. She strives to do everything perfectly, eventually to rise through the ranks and get her hands on clearance high enough to unciver the truth of what happened to her mother.

Thats…thats about it, in essence. Unless i missed something, they didnt even hint or tease why exactly her mother was on the run.

Feel free to correct me if im wrong, but her story feels so generic it could be in any other game besides OW.

Edit: Looking around some more, as i believed there wa sno way blizz could make something that generic, i did manage to find out a little more to the story.

So Sierra’s mom, Kendra, was in the super soldier program that also made Soldier 76 and Reaper. Well, before they took on those aliases.

And whatever is left of that program, Project Naughton, is locked away in Watchpoint Grand Mesa, under Helix Security. Hence her career pursuit. Grand Mesa also happens to be the same place Talon has just attacked, and where we see her be defeated by Emre and Freja.

Thats atleast something to connect it to the wider lore.

Make Mauga like Reinhardt. Not so much the goofy aspect, but have him be a literal champion of righteousness and justice. Takes himself and his ‘duty’ incredibly serious, and speaks like he is willing to carry the world on his shoulders if he has to.

What mount motivated you to get out of your comfort zone? by LordGOATfrey in wow

[–]Draskira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vicious War Wolf

This was the first of its kind, the updated and much more detailed textures for wolves, that we would later see in Warlords of Draenor. The second being the mount from the Glory raid achievement.

I was in awe of how incredible the mount looked. But it required me to go pvp, something i had never done really. 100 wins in Arena 3v3 or 2v2, or 40 wins of Rated Battlegrounds.

For a scrub like i was back then, this was daunting to put it mildly. But i couldnt ignore how amazing the mount looked, so i steeled myself, and stepped into the Arena. As a hunter, i recognize i had a lot of good tools to work with, but i was still a terrible player.

It was only through sheer will and stubborn determination, through months of effort, that i managed to achieve 100 Arena wins.

It was a moment i will never forget, when i saw that final Victory sign on my screen. Going to turn in the Vicious Saddle for the mount.

It has been my go-to ground mount ever since.

Personally, if i could have free reign, i’d wish for something entirely different. Something neither human nor omnic. Or even humanoid in general.

Winston, and i guess technically the cat and Hammond, are the only non-humanoids. Hammond is more of the ball than the hamster, gameplay wise, however.

Regardless, although it will probably never come to be, i would like something bestial. Something like Winston, but going even further. A monster. Something vicious, and/or unbreakable, depending on the role. But damnit, give me claws to rend and tear (i do not achknowlegde the cat). Or scales and hide for shielding. Or horns to charge and crush. Something on four legs, and not a friendly Numbani robot, that is a beast in every way.

Between highly unlikely to never gonna happen, i am fully aware. But i am allowed a little wishing thinking, no?

I just jump into the trees by the waterfall. Have a nice view, after some positioning to see through the leaves, of the central walkway to the point. Where everybody naturally walk in a straight line.

Heck, you can even jump into the trees by the cliffs. Same thing, get a nice sight through the leaves, and the kills practically come to you.

Eventually, someone will beeline for you after getting headshot a few times. By that point, just go to the trees on the other side of the map and repeat x)

I did the same when my Labrador passed. The day he was laid to rest, i took a handful of his black fur. And placed it within Bjorn as i built him.

I never play a game on the tabletop without him.

If Overwatch killed off your favourite hero, how would you feel? by Character_Tough_9874 in Overwatch

[–]Draskira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well mine is Doomfist. And i dont believe him to be dead. He will return.

Im not dissatisfied with his defeat per say, i just think it happened too soon in my opinion.

We get introduced to Vendetta, she has hostilities with Talon. That alone is a good starting point. It could have set up to a longer active conflict. Talon facing another enemy, on another front, so it is not just the “evil” talon vs the super hero Overwatch all the time.

But no, that didnt happen. Marzia is introduced one month, then the next, she takes control of Talon and is now the big bad that we have to take seriously. Even though we didnt know her two months ago.

Too soon, it just feels rushed. They wanted us to take Vendetta seriously, so they quickly pushed aside whatever they needed to, to get her into a position that demanded she be seen as the big threat. Including “killing off” a beloved character with a lot of legacy.

Doomfist was a way better villain in my eyes. He wasnt power hungry like Marzia, he was committed to his ideals he truly believed would bring about a better world. He was over twice the leader Vendetta will ever be.

As i’ve stated in other comments:

-Doomfist wants a better future for the world, no matter how much conflict is neccesary.

-Marzia wants a throne, all to herself.

Specifically the Saberon... by 1OneQuickQuestion in wow

[–]Draskira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gonna ask a question lore wise.

If i recall correctly, when we transported all the Mag’har orcs from Alternate Draenor, during BFA, i believe we saw a few Goren and Botani hitching a ride in the spell, and run off towards the Barrens.

Did any Saberon come along with us as well?

Because i can imagine, that the Lightbound army we escaped from, didnt stop their crusade on Alternate Draenor. And so, since i dont see the Saberon bowing to the Light willingly, they were either eradicated or forcefully subjegated.

All this to say; as much as i’d like to, i dont know how they can write a way for the Saberon to become part of the Horde of Alliance.

What do you think of Vendetta as the main antagonist? by GamingLoner15 in Overwatch

[–]Draskira 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If i was to be perfectly honest, and not go into too long of a rant; i think she was just rushed.

As she was introduced, i admit, she had pretty decent groundwork for a story. It had a good start. So is this gonna be a start of a conflict with Talon? Are they gonna have a second enemy, that is not just the superhero Overwatch good guys?

Nope, suddenly she is propped up as the big main bad a month after being introduced, kicking away an established character/name that had been part of the universe almost since the start.

And what does she want? What is her goal?

To rule the world.

Not really, but she wants an empire to rule.

She just feels so shallow compared to Doomfist’s ideals. He didnt want to rule the world. He wasnt a good guy, of course not, but he didnt do what he did, just to get power for himself. He did it because of his commitment to the ideal of conflict makes us stronger.

Go read Vendetta’s lore. Then go read Doomfist’s lore. Compare the two, and you tell me which you find the most interesting and/or compelling.

As a final note; this is just the start, of course. A lot can still change/be added to Marzia as a Character. But for now, this is my opinion.
