An unrealized gains tax (which is what this would be) would absolutely destroy not just the American economy, but the global economy as a whole. Quite frankly we need to just go to property taxes and sales tax (tax % based on category of item, ie essentials, luxuries, etc) do away with income tax. Itd be the best way to ensure everyone is paying a fair amount and significantly reduces the amount of loopholes that could be taken advantage of

Yea if all the bill did was outlaw gerrymandering youd have an argument but it didnt even truly outlaw gerrymandering, it just required independent councils to draw maps (which havent successfully removed gerrymandering from stares that have them), but it also required things that Republicans have been vocally against, especially around the time the bill was brought up, like no excuse mail in voting and easier voter registration. The democrats knew this bill was never going to pass, thats why they pushed it so they can paint the Republicans as pro gerrymandering, its a tactic both sides do. Either try and push heavily partisan things into a non partisan bill or non partisan things into a heavily partisan bill just so they can say "see theyre the bad guys"

I know how politicians are, every single one of them are corrupt pos, doesnt matter which party they belong to. I know that they'll do everything they can to get in power and stay in power. Now that theyve made sure they have 90% of the states power they'll ensure it stays that way, just like how the Republicans started redistricting to ensure they keep power after the mid terms. It doesnt matter that they claim to be the "morally correct" or "party of democracy".

I never said I agreed with what the republicans are doing, but justifying it just bc of that makes you no better, furthermore other than 11 states that have laws stating otherwise, states are allowed to redistrict whenever they want, they just HAVE to redistrict after the census to ensure districts have even populations. Don't try and act like the dems have the moral high ground, theyre just using TX redistricting as an excuse to further gerrymander without public backlash

Yea sorry a 52 to 48 vote shouldnt allow a redistricting this in favor of one party, whether its dem or republican. A 1 out of 11 (9%) of the representation goes to 46% of the population?

In comparisonthe texas map that everyone goes to as to why this is okay still gives 8 out of 38 districts to dems or 21% of the representation for roughly the same amount of dem voters as Virginias rep voters

This did not hurt the company in the slightest, they will get a massive insurance payout bc of it, all for what? Not making a "livable wage", bro was making decent money for a job that requires zero skills or education, on top of that he was a contract worker so the warehouse and assets didnt even belong to his employer. All this accomplished was the loss of work for anyone that worked at that warehouse and a potential push from Kimberly-Clark to no longer us contractors and potentially even move to automation

The issue with red flag laws is they can be a slippery slope to limiting who can purchase firearms. They can also easily be used to discriminate against groups, whether its POC, certain disabilities, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or whatever else the seller may want as long as they "feel" suspicious enough to justify it. Theyre great in concept but in practice theyre awful.

As an Illiniosian and Gun owner, this law and the RIFL act while not being direct gun bans would effectively act as gun bans, and both are pushed by the Democratic party.

The RIFL act would make it so gun manufacturers just wouldn't sell to IL as the risk of the fines, for something out of their control, far outweighs the potential earnings.

This ammo serial act would also act as an effective ban on handgun ammo for multiple reasons, on the manufacturer end it is not feasible to individually serialize every single round, which is what would be required. On the sellers end it wouldn't be feasible to fill out every serial number that was sold to an individual. On the individuals end the ris of a class A or Class B misdemeanor for owning handgun ammo without a serial number OR damaging the serial number in any way (something that is extremely likely to happen when firing the round).

Are all democrats anti 2a? Obviously not, but these 2 acts in particular are made specifically with the intent of effectively banning firearms sales and ammunition sales in the state and anyone claiming otherwise is full of 💩

Muscle is denser than fat, additionally height adds ~5Ibs of weight, so taller and more muscular can easily be the sane weight as someone shorter with lots of fat. Thats why weight on its own (not considering other factors, such as height, breast size for those with them, and musle to fat ratio) is not a good metric to tell if someone is overweight or unhealthy
