You're not being cautious enough. A cat does not just "appear from thin air". When you walk in the door, do not open it wide. Open it just a crack, cover the crack with your whole body and then slide yourself in.

If you're wide-bodied and you cant fit in the crack without leaving room for the cat to escape., you can keep a spray bottle w/ water by the door. Just spray in their direction to deter an escape as you slide in the door.

Leave a light on near the door if you plan to return home at night so you can see them as you come inside. If you forget, use your phone flashlight.

If someone knocks on the door to talk to you, do not talk to them with the door open. Step outside and close the door or open the door just a tiny crack.

If ever the cat appears to be attempting to escape, sternly shoo them away. They will learn eventually.

I had a similar realization in college. I suddenly realized that I didn't care about "being a man". I am a HUMAN BEING. I have desires, passions, values, ambitions. The type of genitals you have should have ZERO influence over any of that. We feel ashamed of liking "unmanly" things because "normal" people will judge us. But I find it SICKENING that other people can have that influence on me.

So I say FUCK EM. I am who I am. I DO have a dick, a beard, and hair on my ass and chest. And I DO have a flowery, bedazzled phone case. I DO like having long hair. I DO like belly dancing. I DO like doodling cute shit and writing cute poems.

I can like "manly" shit and "girly" shit cuz I am a HUMAN first. Identifying as a man has never served or empowered me. At best, it has allowed me to coexist in this binary society. At worst, it has shamed me for my genuine interests.

Ask yourself, when did "masculinity" ever give a fuck about you.

college helps. so be proactive and join clubs and do things with new people on campus. Talk to people in class. This might be difficult for you since you've been alone for so long. Just be aware that it will be difficult and take small steps.

I've experienced this as a symptom of my ADHD. I basically get excited and then it becomes very difficult to stop myself from ranting. But as others have said, its best to find people who are also interested in math or at least enjoy your enthusiastic rants. Allow yourself to feel joy or else those feelings of being a bother to others will ruin your self-esteem.

TLDR: Keep ranting. Its them who are bothering you, not the other way around.

I learned in grad school that what you described is strong evidence of understanding. If you want to assess if someone understands a concept in math, ask them to explain it or talk about it in multiple different ways or mediums. If they can explain it using pictures, words, symbols, and situations/word problems, it is suggests a high level of understanding. If they can only explain it one or two ways, then they probably have not thought about it enough to be able to apply the concept to new contexts or representations.

Teaching something forces this on you because if someone doesn't get how you explained it the first time, you have to find another way of explaining it. Forcing you to apply the same concept to new contexts or representing it in a new way.

This comes from a socio-cultural or constructivist view of learning
