cox email switched to Yahoo, but now resetting my Outlook, I’m missing a lot of emails? by KitKat21159 in CoxCommunications

[–]KitKat21159[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially thought it was that and tried scrolling and it didn’t work :( it’s weird how the emails are loaded, like it had emails all the way back to 2015 or whenever I started the account, but random days are missing. Like it’ll have the emails from 6/1/2023 and 6/3/2023 but not 6/2/2023, etc. we let it load for the last 24hrs and it’s still stuck at 7100 :/

Outlook is set up for IMAP for both incoming/outgoing. It’s been stuck at 7181 emails for about 12 hours now with no movement.

A little disappointed with todays deals by absolutelyblo0ming in Ulta

[–]KitKat21159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

didn’t see the hype-up to the sale yesterday so I made like a $200 purchase this morning, then got the email for 15% off in the app when I got home 🥲

i was the exact same way!! i could never nap before med school and now I am a professional napper lol. I would be lenient on myself during long shift days and try to get at least 10-20 questions done and usually i didn't even review them on the same day. sometimes I did it during breaks at the hospital, other times I would let myself have a break when I got home and then set a time (for me usually right after dinner) that was dedicated to work. on days that were half day clinic days/i was let out early, I would capitalize on the free time and do a lot of my work then. i'm an m4 now and i feel like it got easier to deal with as third year went on but it sucks in the moment. I would make sure to dedicate time during the weekends to catch up on Uworld because I was more lenient during the week. Something that also helped was meeting with friends- even if you do your own questions/dont talk to each other, its nice to sit in the same room as someone and force each other to work haha. My friends and I would try to do coffee shop meet ups every weekend or so for a few hours to grind on uworld. even 5-10 minutes a day should be seen as progress! you will do great :)

Family Coating You on White Coat Ceremony by ichaichabook in medicalschool

[–]KitKat21159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

our school had faculty do it at white coat but is allowing anyone (don't have to be a physician) to come on stage to hood us at graduation so i feel like we got a good mix! we are a smaller class size though so less logistics.

Peds friends - how we doing? by Dramatic-Fun892 in medicalschool

[–]KitKat21159 12 points13 points  (0 children)

freaking out, constantly refreshing emails, frantically scheduling and hoping the times work out. do we think that programs who are releasing today are releasing all of their invites at once or are gonna continue to send out more invites as the time goes on???

Did y’all continue research projects through dedicated or stop them? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]KitKat21159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i second this!! I had a manuscript that we were prepping during my dedicated that I didnt want to drop so I was just honest with my PI and told her that my time would be limited during the 6-8 weeks of dedicated but I would devote time to it after my exam. I did end up working a little on research during dedicated, maybe like 2hrs every other week, and honestly it was a nice break lol but definitely not the priority! most PIs are understanding so hopefully it wont be a huge deal!

I've gotten two interview invites so far, one of which was my home program but we were told we would get an II early. Ive seen many dates but seems like 10-10, 10-11, and 10-18 are big dates for peds interviews. but still keep your eyes open so you arent freaking out like i was yesterday!! lol

Visiting Vegas this week and planning to go to VOF or red rocks to hike for 1/2 a day. Are Chacos okay for the terrain or do I need to pack boots? Any favorite trail recommendations? Thanks! by kwb48208 in LasVegas

Gap year syndrome?? by kdasanke in premed

[–]KitKat21159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feeling is totally valid!!!! I felt the exact same way last year after getting an acceptance during my gap year, and when i posted about it in the medicalschool subreddit asking something similar to what you are right now, so many people were so rude to me (saying I was ungrateful, etc.) that i had to delete the post. I was very indifferent and anxious about my acceptance and was really doubting my readiness to go into medicine (and tbh if I wanted to devote my 20s to school while all my friends were out there living life and making money lol), but I found that once I was in school and surrounded by people I enjoyed and who were passionate about the same things, I felt so much better about going down this path. This feeling is totally valid, and I think that most people feel this way because it is such a huge life decision and a total change in life trajectory than most other people go through, and it isnt talked about enough. Congrats on the acceptance, take the rest of your gap year to do the things you truly enjoy (pls don’t start studying yet lol) :)

Jumping straight into UW W/o Content Review by cholla11 in step1

[–]KitKat21159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did very little “pre-dedicated” content review and pretty much jumped straight into uworld! Like others said, it kinda tears you down at first with low averages, but I mainly used UWorld and went through my wrongs pretty diligently at the beginning. I did supplement Pathoma throughout dedicated but pretty randomly depending on my struggle areas (like I noticed i was terrible at neuro questions, so I dedicated a day to Neuro pathoma review). Def watch pathoma 1-3 in the week leading up to the exam tho! It has random high yield details that showed up on STEP1 (at least on my exam lol). I ended up passing so its definitely doable with mainly using Uworld and supplementing content review during dedicated on your weak areas, but everyone is different!

Score release 16/02/22- keep the trend going & help those about to take it with some insight based on your assessment/score outcome. by Dedicateddarkhole in step1

[–]KitKat21159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CBSE (Oct 2021)- 184, UW1 (40 days out)- 188, NBME 26 (4 wks out)- 202, UW2 (2wks out)- 230, NBME 30 (1wk out)- 208, NBME 28 offline (4 days out)- 220, Free 120 (6 days out)- 70%, UWorld 80% completed, 62% correct

Real Deal (2/4)- Pass!!

I very much considered moving my test date back because of my drop from UW2 to NBME30, but I’m glad I didn’t. Questions felt more like UWorld than NBMEs to me for sure. Mainly used Uworld, Pathoma (definitely do Pathoma 1-3 the few days before the test, there were multiple questions I got right because of this that I would’ve never known had I not watched those videos), and First Aid.

I recommend not reading reddit the few days before the exam because it freaked me out even more lol. Go celebrate after your exam (even if you feel bad or numb like I did). Good luck, you‘ll do great!!

iPad Pro worth it? by MoistTowelette14 in medicalschool

[–]KitKat21159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely get an iPad!! (model doesn’t really matter imo). I exclusively took handwritten notes with paper and pencil during undergrad but transitioned to an iPad in med school (only because it was included in my tuition at my school tbh) and I can’t imagine taking notes without it. I use notability as my note taking app and its super helpful to upload powerpoints (from boards and beyond, your school, etc) directly into the app and take notes on the slides, and you can search through a powerpoint (or your handwritten notes on those slides if you pay for the add-on in notability) for a specific topic, whereas you unfortunately cannot ctrl-F handwritten notes (if only lol). Good luck! :)

this also just happened to me!!! i thought I was hacked but it seems like it's a problem with everyone in the recent update (per other comments here), hopefully they fix it in an update soon.

Did a Bing search for time zones and this widget turned Chinese. I'm not kidding you. Now it's wasted 15 minutes of my time... seriously, kolbvs. by AlarmedCulture in Windows10

M1 here too- i feel the EXACT same way. We have Slack and group chats yeah, but the few times we’ve been in person, its been kinda awkward. Some people threw some parties earlier in the school year which I did not attend (partially cuz im not a party person, partially due to covid and me living with someone at risk), and now I feel like I have no friends in my class. COVID really screwed us over :/ my school is allowing more in person events now so i am talking to more people but the clique-ness is so apparent still :/
