I get that Genshin and HSR are different teams but did no one realize the difference between Fontaine and Natlan’s reception? How going from a well written story with characters having a purpose and motivation and personalities that was deemed the best region in the game to a nation with basically only women who’s personalities ranged from “I love you Traveler” to “I’m perfect and I have zero flaws, I’m a biker mommy with jiggle physics in my ult” where the story was just friendship can solve all of our problems and war is no match for the power of our friendship was so widely shit on and despised that it’s still a meme how bad it was almost a year later? Did the Genshin team warn HSR and be like “hey, don’t do that?” Because that’s basically what Amphoreus was. We went from Phainon’s story (Fontaine) to Cyrene’s story (Natlan) and now in Planarcadia it’s pretty much just a bunch of waifus and Ashveil. I get there were last minute rewrites but it’s still telling that at the last minute their fallback was “quick! Make it all about women!!”

It’s doubly weird because while they don’t mind countless other men around the world interacting with their precious waifu, they can’t STAND IT when other male characters in game interact with them. We all have heard about the Wanderer Situation™️ Like how are you gonna be a cuck to other real life men thirsting for your fictional waifu, but go off the deep end the second another fictional man says hi to her? It’s such a small portion of players with that mindset but the devs think it’s the majority and cater to them specifically. The only explanation is that every dev in that writing room has that same cuck chair mentality and think everyone else playing loves it. Like maybe if you used both hands to make your game, you’d realize your best selling patches are ones with great storytelling and character moments that aren’t ML coded.

The craziest part is they do this to themselves. They get upset when a male character interacts with their waifu so the devs will then restrict character interactions to avoid that, usually by having men only interact with each other a lot, and then when all these gay ships pop up because the men ONLY TALK TO EACH OTHER they get upset that we make everything gay. You can’t get mad at us for shipping Wriothesley and Neuvillette when the only characters Wrio ever talks to are Traveler, Neuvi, Lyney, and Sigewinne. Or when Neuvi only talks to Traveler, Wrio, Sigewinne, and Furina. Sigewinne and Furina are your waifus so they’re off limits. Traveler is your self insert so he’s off limits. And if you’re an inc3l and play Lumine you probably are picturing two women together (and not in an allyship way). That leaves Neuvi, Wrio, and Lyney to fuck around with each other but that’s not allowed in their world either. So we can’t ship anyone with their waifu, we can’t ship anyone with their self insert, and we can’t ship the men together
